Like other books in this series, it is a fun little introduction to inspiring people. Definitely a great way to introduce kids to biographies and a nice read for adults too. I would recommend all the books in this series.

Another great little picture book from the Little People, Big Dreams series. Pele is such an inspirational athelete for little ones to be learning about. I loved learning about him and his story. I love how diverse this series of books is. It shows little ones that people that want to do anything can change the world. I love that it doesn't just focus on world leaders or scientists. It includes athelets and artists as well! I love it!

I continue to enjoy this biography series geared to young children. One of the things I love is that the people chosen are from a variety of backgrounds, countries and cultures. This one highlights a soccer/football player that is well known in the field, but I did not know much about his background or what he did after his playing career ended. Born Edson Arantes, Pelé was given his nickname by his schoolmates. He loved playing soccer from a very young age. He even made his own soccer ball out of old socks and newspapers since his family couldn't afford to buy a ball. We don't really see much about the slums he would have grown up in because he was plucked from the neighbourhood to train for the national team relatively young. I do think the parts of his life that were highlighted will pique the interest of young readers. The fact that the book begins with Pelé being young and dreaming big, is what gives this series its name. Sharing about his humanitarian efforts after his soccer career ends was great information to share that sports heroes are often generous and many are worthy of being looked up to. Just like the other books in this series, this book is full of appealing illustrations that fit the person and the place where they grew up. As always with this series, it is a book that shares with the reader that anybody, anywhere, can become the best at whatever they want to achieve with hard work and the desire to follow your dream.

I'm pretty sure Pele is the reason people in the U.S. knew anything about the game of football- even if we called it soccer. When I was a kid in the 70s, we all wanted to be like Pele- there's a reason he's known as the best player ever! It was amazing to watch him play, and you could see the joy on his face, that child inside who promised to win the World Cup one day for his father. Definitely an inspiring addition to this wonderful series!

I love reading about people from other cultures and countries who have a recognizable name, but where most people don’t know a lot about them. For me this is Pele. I knew he had something to do with Soccer. I love this story, and how the man never forgot his boyhood and used his sport for good rather than just to fill his pockets.

'Pele' by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara with illustrations by Camila Rosa is a young reader biography of the famous soccer player.

Pele was born Edson Arantes do Nascimento in Bauru, Brazil, and given the nickname Pele by his friends. He loved soccer so much that he made his own ball when he couldn't get one. He became the greatest soccer player, but also used his fame to show how soccer could unite people.

I continue to love and champion this Little People, Big Dreams series. These are really great biographies adapted for young readers. Like the rest of this series, this one has a different illustrator than other books in the series. I love Camila Rose's bright, fun illustrations.

I read this with my football obsessed son and he loved it. I liked the focus on Pele’s humanitarianism as well as his football. My 5 year old son loved that fact that Pele bought his Mum and Dad a new house with his first pay packet. We love the bright colours and simple yet informative text.

And little Edson became not just Pele-the best football player who had ever lived- but a person that every girl or boy wants to be. Someone who is just as happy to unite people as he is to score a winning goal.

Pele is a strong role model for young children today. He is humble, kind, and cares for others. His story started with playing ball at a young age making his own ball and wanting to win a championship for his country and his father. Very inspiring for all!

A special thank you to Quartro Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

A fab bio of the legendary soccer player! “Pelé” takes us through his humble beginnings in Brazil — to his multiple World Cup wins and later support of impoverished children as a UNESCO goodwill ambassador.

Love the fun illustrations, historic photos, and life timeline. A stellar addition to the Little People, BIG DREAMS series that inspires kids and adults alike.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento, also known as Pele, is a famous Brazilian Football Player. Pele was a humble boy who helped out his family when he became successful. He went on to help children who grew up in poverty, like himself. This is another wonderful addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series and contains lovely illustrations throughout. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my digital copy.

Another good addition to this series, which I enjoy. I knew who Pelé was but didn't know his history or the work he did outside of soccer/football. The author included just enough tidbits about his beginning years and what he did beyond sport to show the depth of his story.

Pele // by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara // illustrated by Camila Rosa

When I saw this book, I just knew I had to read it! My husband is a big soccer fan and when I asked him about Pele, he excitedly told me half of the things I ended up reading in this book! I love how this series is always able to condense someone's story into a short book while still conveying the importance of that person and the lessons we can learn from them. I've become a big fan of Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara through these books and, once again, she did not disappoint. This book has a spot on our shelves for sure. The illustrations by Camila Rose are well done and accompany the story beautifully.
