This cookbook had some really great recipes. The recipes were easy to understand and not too complicated for the average cook. I enjoyed the illustrations and look forward to making these recipes for years to come.

Wanda Brunstetter’s cookbooks always have fabulous recipes, and if this one is like the other cookbooks of hers that I own, I’ll be adding this one to my cookbook collection. These recipes not only sound delicious, they seem as if a somewhat inexperienced chef could make these from scratch. The photos in the book are bright and attractive; and the print size would easy to read in the kitchen as you are preparing the dish. There’s a nice variety of recipes and you should be able to find quite a few that will appeal to your family. I’m looking forward to getting some family favorites from this cookbook.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I love a good cookbook, especially a good church cookbook. There are a lot of great recipes that are either from scratch or with basic ingredients and easy to follow. You can cook a meal for your family or for a larger group with these recipes. Lots of options for salads, desserts (my favorite), main and side dishes! Would love to have some nutritional information included but for the most part it is easy to figure it out while cooking. I have not tried all the recipes, but they are easy to follow and I love how easy it is to follow. The fellowship and family community behind the recipes and contributors is full of abounding love and fellowship. Sharing a meal together is a long time tradition that can create a thankfulness and simple traditions. I think I need to invest in the physical copy of this cookbook to add to my shelves. Thanks NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this Cookbook.

I am a huge fan of this author. When I saw a new cook book from her I knew that I had to request it!

As usual, you will see a bunch of new recipes that she has gotten from her Amish Friends. It's always such fun trying to create them. While the idea is to cook from scratch - there are some convenience items thrown in (cream of chicken soup, velveeta. etc) The taco salad was our favorite out of the whole cook book. It was nice to have tacos a different way.

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this book. This makes an excellent edition to my kitchen.

This is a wonderfully put together cookbook filled with great pictures and easy to put together recipes. I love cooking from scratch and the recipes included make doing just that easy. In this trying time cooking food that comforts the soul makes me happy and to find an abundance of recipes to choose from was a blessing. I've always been a fan of Amish cooking and look forward to finding new dishes to try. It also includes great stories and tips that any cook could use while working in the kitchen. I can't wait for this authors next book!!!

Wanda E. Brunstetter's Amish Friends From Scratch Cookbook by Wanda E. Brunstetter

I am drooling over recipes for breakfast food like Pancakes and Waffles submitted by Amish ladies from Pennsylvania, and don't forget the syrup!
Noodles from Martha in Michigan will go with any meal.
Let's have Grilled Chicken from Carla in Pennsylvania and Potato Salad from Esther in Ohio for supper.
Don't forget everyone's favorite, dessert. I would like Peanut Butter Bars from Velma in Indiana and Fudge Brownies from Maria in Indiana.
There are special lists for Equivalents and Substitutions. Pictures of delicious food are found throughout the book.
I am sure you will find many tempting recipes in this book to try and label your favorites.
My copy was provided by Net Galley.

This cookbook is very insightful and makes you think of Grandma's recipes. I enjoyed it and have already made one of the recipes...Hawaiian cheesecake bars. I do not like the digital copy (it downloads sideways) and think I will buy this in print so I can enjoy it the way it meant to be.

I wasn’t sure what to expect out of Wanda E. Brunstetter’s Amish Friends From Scratch Cookbook, but I guess I was picturing a standard cookbook, just with Amish recipes. I wasn’t sure how you’d go about collecting Amish recipes, so I was also interested to see how that would work.

Well, this is a collection of Amish and Mennonite recipes, with little notes about their geographic origins. What this isn’t is a modern cookbook, with a lot of large photos and splashy spreads. Instead, it packs together a large number of recipes with few adornments. And so if that’s what you’re looking for, great! You’re going to have access to a wide range of homestyle, comfort food recipes.

Overall, I wasn’t too excited about this cookbook, but I think it’s just not the style that I’m into. That said, I did really appreciate the effort put into collecting recipes from a variety of communities.

Thanks to Barbour Publishers, Wanda Brunstetter, and NetGalley for the advance sample copy of this book. The opinions expressed are my own.

As usual, Wanda has given us a wonderful collection of Amish recipes that we can make an enjoy. Recipes are arranged by category and credit is given to all who contribute. Pictures are beautiful and recipes are easy to follow.

Great addition to any cookbook collection.

A 5 star collection.

This is a very interesting cook book for items such breads, cheeses and desserts. I look forward to the broccoli salad and Ive seen other versions of the grape salad that people swear by! The only section I found "lacking" if you could call it that would be the main dishes section. I really look forward to make the chicken and stuffing casserole! I only wish there were more selections in this section.
The drink section is worth commenting on as well. The mojito drink and the gelatin drink look like great options for my toddler in hot summer months! I would be highly interested in reading other Amish cookbooks based on this, my first Amish cookbook.

Thank you to Net Galley and publisher for this free digital ARC in exchange for my personal review!

Some of my earliest memories are being in the kitchen with my family. Everyone had a job to do no matter how small we were. Nothing compares to enjoying a good home cooked meal from scratch, eaten around a large table. Amish Friends From Scratch Cookbook is reminiscent of copying those favorite recipes by hand on a three by five inch card to share. My box is overflowing still with treasures from my family and friends. This new collection of recipes gathered by Wanda Brunstetter is full of recipes that have been tried and tested.

One recipe to note especially, is Coffee Shop Brownies....from one chocolate lover to another, they are quite good! The Buttermilk pancake recipe conjures up memories of my dad on a Saturday morning making his special pancakes. Other recipes that are noteworthy are Delicious Cream Cheese and Marshmallow Creme Fluff. Those are two things I thought were found only in the grocery store! If you are looking for tried and true recipes for your family, I recommend this cookbook. Consider adding this to your gift list for budding cooks in the family. You may benefit by an invitation to enjoy one of these good recipes around the table.

Another wonderful cookbook from Ms. Brunstetter and friends. The recipes all look delicious . I am seriously debating on how my doctor will love them, but what the heck, they look too good ignore.
The only drawback that I could see was that the pictures didn't show what recipe they were. There was an extremely tasty cake in there, but no way to identify what it was.

Wanda amazes us with another cookbook. With a smattering sample of the recipes included in this book we can see how well this is put together. You will never be disappointed with any of Wanda Brunstetter's books.

This review is my own and I am under no obligation to leave a positive view.

What could be better than an Amish cookbook, compiled by one of the foremost Amish authors....Wanda Brunstetter!!! This cookbook will not disappoint you. It had readily available ingredients, that most of us already have in our kitchen, and the recipes are down home, warm the stomach, good food!! I have been blessed, many times, to share meals with our Amish friends and these recipes show how many of them eat. You will enjoy this book, especially since many of us are eating, at home, more during this year of 2020.....this cookbook will help your family enjoy your meals!!. Open, the book, enjoy the possibilities and make some "new to you" dishes!! I received an ARC copy of this book, but loved it so much, I bought a hard copy to add to my Brunstetter book collection!!!

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Kensington Books via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Looking forward for this book to be published. Every time I see an Amish cookbook, I get excited. I myself have food allergies and intolerance that preclude me from eating many of the recipes without substitution but I enjoy making them as suggested for my family. Cooking from scratch has been a long time pleasure but in this time of COVID quarantines it is even more important to be able to cook from our pantries. This wonderful cookbook makes it possible and delicious.
