A delightful and succinct adaptation of the classic in a popular modern format. Will be adding this to our collection which already includes the Manga Scarlet Letter adaptation.
wow! i have to admit i haven’t read the classic of it, but this was done beautifully! and the illustrations captures emotions and personalities really well. such a fun easy read.
What a fantastic manga adaptation of the beloved story Anne of Green Gables! I'd quite forgotten how good this story was, and reading the manga makes me want to go back and read the actual book! I will admit I was a little disappointed that the book did not include the scene where Anne falls off the roof. Overall though, I was happy with this adaptation.
I received a copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was so fun to read. I loved seeing the classic Anne of green gables characters in manga form. I highly recommend this to read if you love the classic as much as I do.
Manga meets children's book! A really well done conversion of the children's book classic. The illustrator has a very nice style that fits well with the story.
This classic always had a special place in my heart. So when i saw this i had to read it. This adaptation followed the original closely and it was fun seeing it come to life.
I have always loved this story! Come wander down The White Way, and stroll past the Lake of Shining Waters to get lost in Green Gables. This retelling of the classic tale follows the story of Anne Shirley an 11 year old orphan mistakenly sent to live with brother and sister Matthew and Marilla. They had wanted to adopt a boy to help around their farm, and were disappointed that a girl was sent.. However, after meeting Anne and seeing what a unique way that she sees the world, they decide to let her stay. The story follows Anne as she adjusts to life in Avonlea and Green Gables, and as she grows up. This is an older story, but the message and main points of it are timeless. Anne is not afraid to be herself, no matter what anyone else may say. She is even a bit of a feminist in a pre-feminism world. I think this story is still relevant to the modern girl, especially told in this manga format. Reading it this way clears out the older language style that may be confusing for some readers, but the message still remains clear through the dialogue and illustrations. I wasn't sure that I would like reading this in this style, but it was so good that I read the whole thing in just a few hours! At the end of the book the author has a few pages to explain the writing process of changing a classic book to a manga, and I thought that was a great addition. This is one you should definitely give a try, no matter your age. I can't wait to read more in this manga classics series!
Special thanks to NetGalley for providing a digital copy in exchange for an honest review
AHHHH! I don't even know where to start. I haven't read the original book, but I have watched (and absolutely adored) Anne with an E on Netflix. I had read that the show gets quite different from the source material so I was pleasantly surprised that this was pretty similar to the first season of the show. Other reviews I've read have said this is fairly accurate to the original book. I was always wary to read the books because I know how old they are and I knew it was different from the show that introduced me to Anne, but reading this has made me super antsy and excited to get my hands on the whole original series.
For a book that was dialogue and pictures, this did such an amazing job portraying Anne's emotions throughout her trials and tribulations. I don't think I can say enough positive things about this
Prince Edward Island had no idea what it was in for when Anne Shirley came to town! Siblings Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert had intended to adopt a boy to help them on their farm...enter Anne. She is bright and curious and brightens up everyone's lives...and causes a little trouble along the way.
I don't read manga very often, but when I saw this was a retelling of Anne of Green Gables I checked it out immediately. It was a fun read and the graphics were very cute. I wonder if the other books in the series will ever be published.
I was provided this book to read in exchange for an honest opinion. I'd like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

Very sweet artwork. The manga does a nice job of translating Montgomery's classic novel, sticking very closely to the original source material. A nice way for readers to sample the novel before actually reading it
I loved Anne of Green Gables, and having the illustrations with the story was great! I thoroughly enjoyed this.
Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorite series of all time. I’ve reread the original book series too many times to count, and enjoyed it each time. I am also fond of the movies starring Megan Follows. With that said, I’d like to say this manga adaptation stays true to the dialogue and captures the charm of the series, while giving a fresh take on the appearance of the supporting characters (Matthew’s beard was a surprise).
The art style is catered to younger audiences (more of a kiddie shojo art style), but as an adult I still find it cute. Overall, I think this would be a wholesome read for children in elementary school. 4 stars.
This advance review copy was provided by NetGalley.

I have read lots of these manga classics and loved them. Unlike many people I didn't read Anne of Green Gables as a child and this was my first experience with this book and I found it to be absolutely delightful and I may consider picking up the other books in the series especially if they are published in manga format.
The art made the story easier to follow along, but once again I find myself uninterested in the plot of the original classic that's been adapted here.
Anne of Green Gables is a heartwarming story about Anne and her adopted family Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. They didn't get good start but as they spent time together, the bonding grow strong and they become real family.
I love how this artwork successfuly pick right scene to built their mutual affection. I personally get interest with over dramatic Anne and most of characters at here. And the manga version give advantage to show us the thought of characters right alongside the event. It is help me to really understand the character faster than book narrate.
Well adapted and quite accurate to the real story. The artwork very beautiful and enjoyable. It is fun way to read classics. Totally will read another story, thanks for the chance Netgalley.

This is a lovely adaptation of one of my all time favorite books! I liked that many scenes seemed to be taken directly from the books, while the manga format definitely added some humor. The story started to feel a little rushed during the middle, but that’s what happens when you have time skips several pages in a row. That said, I’m still impressed that so much plot was able to fit into this manga!
I received an eARC in return for an honest review; thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity.
This was another delightful adaptation of classic literature into manga form, the whimsical nature of Anne’s musings were very well translated into this comic form.
It was a fun, quick read - in particular this adaptation did a great job focusing on the relationships of the characters, particularly the female characters.
Would definitely recommend for fans of this series.
Really disappointed because I loved the original book but I couldn't read the comic. The file type wouldn't download. The cover looks amazing though.
I am not a fan of Anne of Green Gables. I didn't like the original story or the show so I was certain I wouldnt like this one. WOW. I loved it. something about it being put into manga put its in the middle ground of show and book and. I liked it a lot more just like this. It wasn't my favorite manga classics, but I def still enjoyed reading it.
