The "Anne of Green Gables" series captivated me from the start with its engaging plot, charming setting, and the lovable protagonist, Anne. When I stumbled upon the manga on NetGalley, I couldn't resist giving it a read, and, of course, I wasn't disappointed.

The manga adaptation was simply enchanting. The detailed style and artistic design beautifully transported me back into Anne's world. The manga masterfully captured the emotional nuances and deep connections with the characters. The pages flowed seamlessly as I once again immersed myself in the charming story.

Experiencing the beloved "Anne of Green Gables" tale in manga format was a true delight. It's a creative and affectionate adaptation that preserves the essence of the original series while presenting it in a new, visual light. For all fans of Anne and her magical universe, this manga is undoubtedly a must-read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Manga Classics for providing me the ARC!

This Manga surprised me by being much closer to the original than I expected.
I may not be 100% d‘accord with most of the characters‘ designs, but that‘s just a personal style and taste after all.
It is a fun read, especially if you‘re a fan of the original book series.

I love the original series of this book, but this version made it a much more easier consumption of the story for someone just starting out with it!

This is a very cute and faithful adaptation of Anne of Green Gables. The artwork is beautiful and you really get a sense for Anne as a character. I will say though that it doesn't add much to the story if you're very familiar with the book. So I would recommend reading this if for some reason you struggle with the book, or you're between rereads and want a sweet dose of Anne's charm.

Thanks to Manga Classics and Netgalley for an eARC of the manga in exchange for an honest review!

Loved it. Missed a part of the story though but maybe it was shortened for a reason. But I liked the writing

Great Read

I received an advance review copy for free from Netgalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Thank you, Crystal S. Chan, and the original author, L.M. Mongomery for the opportunity to read your book. This was an enjoyable read. This is a part of the Manga Classics series. In this book, we get a manga adaption of the classic tale of Anne of Green Gables. As I read this book, I thought that it did a great job of recreating the same moments that the original book created. I thought that the illustrations were beautiful. I give a lot of credit to the artist, Kuma Chang. The artwork illustrated the story wonderfully. I enjoyed the manga and the way it was written. I did find Anne a bit annoying with her constant chatter, but I liked her because despite she has struggles, she remains optimistic. I believe this is my first Manga Classic, and it did not disappoint. I am glad that I got to read this book in a different format because it made me appreciate the original story so much more. I hope that I get to read more Manga Classic stories. Overall, a great read.

could not download and read it. File was corrupted, which is disappointing as I love Anne of Green Gables and was interested in reading this version to see if it was different to the original.

I don't read manga very often, but this one was just must read. My favorite story about red-headed orphan who has very vivid imagination adaptated into manga?! Sign me in!
I like about Anne's story, it's about finding your home at last and about importance of friendship. I enjoyed how Marilla's and Anne's relationship changes through the book as well. (So beautiful development)
I was also pleasently suprised how much manga format adds to its story with face expressions and characters thoughts seeing on pages. And don't get me starting about stunning artwork - everything together just works perfectly.

I'm just glad that this beautiful story got adaptation which can reach new audience. Crystal S. Chan and Kuma Chang did such a good job.

Thank you to NetGalley for a review copy.

I have never been interested in graphic novels, and I had never read manga (Japanese comics) before. But I am so glad I decided to give this one a try! I truly enjoyed this unique take on a familiar, well-loved story.
The artwork was very well done. The characters were mostly as I have pictured them, except for Gilbert’s wild hair, but I could suspend my disbelief because the whole thing was just such a treat. I appreciated the explanation of how to read the frames (right to left), as well as how the story of Anne was converted into manga format while staying true to the original. In the forward, L.M. Montgomery’s granddaughter puts her stamp of approval on the book and says that her grandmother would be pleased. I have to agree with her.
I don’t know if I would have enjoyed this book as much if I was not already familiar with Anne. Knowing what was coming, I anticipated my favorite parts and enjoyed seeing them in a new way. I just found out that there is an entire series of manga classics, and my local library has some of them. I look forward to reading more of them soon. 5 stars!

This is so cute! I struggle reading classics so I've wondered about manga classics for a while. When I saw this one with the beautiful cover I knew it was gone to try it! And wow am I blown away. I get the love for this story now. It's so cute and fun and wholesome. The art is gorgeous. I absolutely adore Anne's art style she so beautiful work her flowing hair and big eyes.
I think having the visuals work the story really added to it. Made it extra special.

Great way to read a classic at all ages. Having the forward at the beginning of the authors family okaying and loving this adaptation made me really happy. Her granddaughter saying this portrayed the original tale perfectly accurate made it so I could enjoy the story and not wonder what was different. Will probably be a manga and classic all time favorite for me.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I love the art! I have always loved Anne of Green Gables, and this will be an awesome addition to my collection. (I already ordered the physical copy before I finished it)

I love how dramatic Anne is, and it was so fun to visually see that with her actions and facial expressions. I think everyone was drawn perfectly!

I actually wish it was longer. There are a lot of time skips, it would have been nice if it was split into two books so we could see more.

I would love for manga classics to do a second one so that we get to see the love story between Anne and Gilbert!

Highly recommend!

This was a cute adaptation of a story I've loved since childhood. My daughter has a hard time reading long books with small print and loves the manga style, so this was a great choice for her. For myself I think I prefer the classics for what they are, but it was great to be able to share this old favorite with my child in a format that she can really consume that feels accessible to her!

*Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book, and for the opportunity to read and review it in anticipation of it's release.*

Anne of Green Gables was one of the stories I grew up reading, and I was delighted at the chance to return to that innocent, captivating world of Anne's imagination, perseverance, and kind heart with this manga adaptation. It's overall a breezy, pleasant read, though that's not to say it's without its angsty moments. Still, the story is ultimately a heartwarming tale of a found family and how one little orphan girl changes the lives around her for the better.

The plot can seem a bit meandering, but it's pleasantly so, like you're taking a ramble through a natural landscape and enjoying the sights of a scenic walk. We see snapshots of Anne's five or so years growing up at Green Gables and how both are enriched by the experience. Some chapters are quite abridged, though, sometimes taking up only a page or so in the story as a quick aside of developing events, so I will say this adaptation is not a complete replacement for the full novel.

As for the art, it's simply gorgeous and picturesque. If you want a relaxing manga read, I highly recommend this title. It's a wonderful, easy-to-understand introduction for new readers and a sweet lil' supplement for longtime fans to enjoy.

A good addition to a spectacular series, this YA Manga is an adaptation of the Classic Anne of Green Gables. Gorgeous artwork and simple but effective text that emotes the essence of the original story. An inventive way to illustrate a classic, especially to readers who would not typically explore the original work. Recommended for YA readers and fans of adaptations.
