The first thing I have to say is that when I read Anne of Green Gables I didn't particularly enjoy it. I liked it but for me personally there was nothing special. I do like manga a lot and when I saw this edition on NetGalley I was willing to give it a try. Safe to say that I'm glad I gave this story another chance. I enjoyed it a whole lot more consuming this story in a different medium. I will be checking out the other books that Manga Classics has published. The only sad thing for me was due to it being an arc, the quality wasn't great. Please note that if you buy the physical version the quality will be perfectly fine.
Storywise I can't say much because I already knew the story before going into this. It's a good adaptation and I liked the art style (I'm very picky about those so it's a big compliment).

🌷Pub Date: Aug. 14 2020
🌷Genres: Children's Fiction / Comics, Graphic Novels, Manga / Teens & YA
🌷Plot: A couple plan to adopt a boy for some extra help on their farm, instead they get a plucky redhead named Anne Shirley. This girl turns her small town on its head with her antics.
🌷Review: The Manga Classic Series is a staple in the middle grade / young adult library because it is a fantasy means to introduce students to the classics.

A very cute mesh of two of my favorite things: manga and Anne of Green Gables! It put a huge smile on my face.

I was asked to review this book by Netgalley in exchange for my honest feedback.
I thought this was very refreshing. I am a huge fan of "Anne of Green Gables" and I loved this version of that lovely story. Of course like any retold version it isn't exactly the same as the original story and I think some of it may have been inspired also by "Anne with an E" television series, but it didn't make it any less enjoyable for this longtime fan. The artwork was beautiful and really captured the naturalistic beauty that Anne Shirley loves so much. This piece was well put together and very enjoyable. Thank you for allowing me to read this. I would love to also add this to my collection.

I really enjoy Anne of Green Gables, so when I came across a manga version of the book, I couldn’t wait to read it. What a fun way to read a classic book! The elements and the heart of the book were skillfully conveyed! All of the important points were there, and I didn’t feel like I was missing story elements.
Anne just leaps off the page, and her brilliance shines in the manga. The author and the illustrator did a wonderful job! I really enjoyed this book!

Anne of Green Gables is a book I'd probably never read today unless it was in manga form. Classics have never been my thing but it was so lovely to see this book and be reminded of the classic childhood stories I used to read.
The illustrations were very easy to follow and the Anne I read about reminded me of how she was in the show, Anne was dramatic, was very positive, liked to daydream, and could be stubborn. She was in her own world and it was funny to see her reactions to Gilbert who I knew would eventually become her love interest.
However, this story can still be gut-wrenching as there are some moments you can see how lonely Anne is due to being an orphan which makes her new memories with her family and friends that much heartwarming

The art was cute and its always nice to see classic literature being published in different mediums.

'Manga Classics: Anne of Green Gables' is a delightful adaptation of the beloved classic. The stunning artwork and faithful storytelling make it a must-read for fans of both manga and the original novel.

This Manga was absolutely adorable!
I loved the art style and found it fit the characters perfectly.
I adored Anne right from the beginning and celebrated and cried about everything right alongside her. She was such a great MC.
The side characters were well done as well and I cared about them a great deal.
I have not read the classic novel this was based on, but after reading this Manga, I just might.
Reading about Anne growing up and coming into her own was an absolute delight. I can absolutely recommend this Manga to everyone.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC to review!

One of my favorite Christmas traditions every year is watching the tv series ”Anne of Green Gables”. I have never read the books, but the tv series is the best thing ever, so I was curious if the manga would live up to it. It did!
This is so good. I sincerely hope that they will make more volumes!
This manga is easy to read and follow, and the story's way of telling fits manga with its silent speaking in the drawings. Man, did I hurt for Gilbert Blythe when he had a broken heart over his head.
I love Anne's personality, her dramatic ways, her way of dreaming, and her positive and sometimes stubborn attitude.
Anne is by no means perfect, but that's what I like the best. While she plays the role of a little, wise adult, you can hear between the lines her upbringing as an orphan
It's easy to laugh at her, but you won't feel like it, because you are on Anne's side, and want to protect that universe she has created to handle her childhood.
This is perfect for any readers of all ages.

I absolutely adored this book! I read it in one sitting because I honestly could not put it down. This was done so well. Not only were they true to the story "Anne of Green Gables", they added a depth to it that will attract a whole new audience who would never have read the original story otherwise. The illustrations were exceptional! I was also very thankful for the reading directions in the front of this book because I was unaware that Manga is read from right to left. This book has opened my world to a whole new style of reading that I will be continuing in the near future. I am so ecstatic about this book I want to purchase it! Thank you to Netgalley, Manga Classics Inc., Crystal S.Chan, Kuma Chan, and the family of L.M. Montgomery for the opportunity to enjoy this book! #MangaClassicsAnneofGreenGables #NetGalley

A fun way to engage with a classic! The animation captures Anne's joy and make the story come to life.

It's of no surprise that I absolutely adored this version of Anne of Green Gables. It does a splendid job at illustrating the characters based on their novel descriptions and offers fun faces (common with manga) and an enjoyable shortened tale. Overall, I would say this is a great read and worth the purchase.

For my first Manga, I think I made the right choice. I think I had a great experience being that I just finished the book and the TV series. And I felt that this edition of it combined the two in a wonderful way. I appreciate that it kept more to the book on series issues, and didn't exaggerate the unimportant parts of what makes Anne, Anne. A beautiful job well done, and I would recommend it to anyone.
I love the 'to the point' spirit of Manga on such a wonderful classic, and I would just it did great justice to the personality of the story and characters. I don't feel like I missed out on any of the key points of the story.
Thank you, NetGalley, and Manga Classics Inc., Manga Classics for the ARC!

I`ve never read Anne of green gables before, but this one was pretty sweet. I enjoyed it.
So it was okay.

Great way to expose a new generation of readers to a classic novel. My 11-year-old is dyslexic, and this makes reading a classic much easier for her. Thank you.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me an ARC of this book. This is such a cute take on an adored classic. As a teacher I went and purchased the Pride and Prejudice version of this book for my students and they absolutely loved it! I was thrilled to see that this was part of the classics that they turned into manga. By doing this, my students are able to get a better idea of the story and have beautiful visuals to go with it. I can’t wait for more to be released so not only I can read them but my students as well.

I was a little hesitant if a manga could do justice to a beloved classic like Anne of Green Gables, one of my very favourite books, but was pleasantly surprised with just how enjoyable I found reading this comic! The dialogue stayed true to the novel, and the art style was able to express the broad range of emotions that Anne embodies.
If someone was brand new to Montgomery and the world of Avonlea, I would still obviously recommend they start with reading the original novel because Montgomery's descriptive writing is unparalleled. But for existing fans looking to have a new experience with the story and reread the book in a unique way, I think this is a wonderful option and was a fun and quick way to return to Green Gables.
