A lovely companion to the classic tale. Charming and beautifully rendered. My daughter, 8, also enjoyed this manga version.

It's time for the moment of truth: I haven't read Lucy Maud Montgomery's original books, despite the fact that they're considered "classics" and have lately gone even more viral thanks to Netflix's adaptation "Anne with an E". And somehow this manga does really encourage me to pick up the original works!

I have to admit that I found Anne quite annoying at times (but I still adore her!!!) and Gil just looks like a shounen manga protagonist. Some chapters are just too short (about one page or two) and I would much love to see more of the story. As a result, some characters (such as Ms Stacy) receive insufficient pagetime and development.

I personally like Crystal S. Chan's notes at the end of the book regarding her experiences with this adaptation. I really appreciate that, and I hope to see more perspectives from writers, book editors, and others in the future books!

Since I watched the Netflix show, Anne with an E, I really wanted to read this book since it was another adaptation. First off, the art style is plain gorgeous. Characters like Anne are drawn which such great emotion, and it was easy for me to identify which character is who. I also love the story because even though the original story was written a while ago, I feel like it tackles big issues in a great way. My one negative is how the writing style wasn't really adapted to the modern-day but was from the original book. I personally had a hard time reading this writing style. However, this should not take away from the art style and the amazing characters portrayed!

I received an eARC copy of this title through NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Anne of Green Gables is a classic literature story. I honestly loved this edition. I had not read Anne of Green Gables since I was in elementary school, but this manga edition makes me want to reread it. I thought the art was beautiful, the story intriguing and well paced, and the characters were interesting and compelling. I honestly cannot say how close this book is to the original book, but it definitely hooks you. The flow of the story made sense for the most part. There were a couple of sections I did not quite understand or felt like they came out of nowhere. Other than that, I highly recommend this book!

It's hard not to love Anne of Green Gables. She is wonderful in any form, and Manga Classics: Anne of Green Gables is no exception.

It stays true to the original text, and while it doesn't follow it word for word, it does the majority of the time. And I don't expect it to follow the words 100%, because Manga is a different medium than a solely text-based book. The authors of Manga Anne do a really nice job of condensing conversations or situations, when necessary. Anne fans will recognize all the characters they've come to know and love.

My favorite aspect of the illustrations is the background -- the kitchen shelves, Green Gables, the countryside. It's so pretty. I also love how Anne is drawn.

I hope this edition introduces people to Anne, who might not have discovered her before.

I can't say how odd it is to be reading one of my favorite classics as a manga. Things would be going along normally enough and then *ping* a little slice of manga style would just pop up and make me giggle. That said, I did enjoy it. I know that it was pretty long as it is, but I had secretly hoped there would be a little more to some of the scenes. But what was covered was VERY good and quite true to the original.

The art had a little bit of a more cartoon feel to it, until certain facial expressions or reactions were presented and then it screamed manga at you. lol The back drop and scenery were well done and in some cases, absolutely gorgeous. the wood detail and shading; simple yet gorgeous. I found gilbert's face hilarious. He was the most anime looking of them all. Anne's manga hair was pretty on point though.

If you are looking for a way to get a manga lover into some of the classics, this would probably be a way.

*Thank you to #NetGalley and #Manga Classics Inc. for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review*

This actually the first Manga I have ever read, and when I saw there was an official Anne adaptation, I knew that was where I had to start. I loved that there was a how to read manga guide at the beginning - that was super helpful for a newbie! I also enjoyed the extra materials at the end - blurbs about art, design, characters, focus, important themes, etc. These further explanations for how they adapted the work to the manga format really added to my understanding and appreciation.

As a Prince Edward Islander and someone who has loved Anne all her life, I really enjoyed this manga. The illustrations were beautiful, and the characters and plot stayed true to the original. Everything really came to life on the pages of this manga! The author did a great job of capturing the essence of everything Anne. What a fabulous adaptation!

Anne of Avonlea is back in this manga classic rendering that will delight fans of the original books and movies. As an Anne of Green Gables fan, I thoroughly enjoyed this rendering of the story. The artistry expertly presents emotions that sometimes are not as emphasized through the written word. Each illustration adds another element to the written word that only further enhances someone's enjoyment of Anne's story. This classic will be sure to delight both fans of manga and Ann with an E.

This was an interesting adaptation on the story Anne of Green Gables. The artwork throughout the pages did give off a feeling of child-like reminiscence. Maybe this is why I couldn't connect with the story too well. There were also important moments from the original work that felt watered down in this adaptation. However, as a manga of it's own, I can see the appeal it may have on some readers.

I have to confess that I tried to read the original story of Anne of Green Gables some time ago but it didn't convince me, so I've decided to read the Manga version. The truth is that the reading has been more enjoyable, but I still don't connect with the characters. However, I enjoyed this adaptation infinitely more than the original work. The drawing is wonderful and the expressions and the setting have enchanted me. I recommend this work to lovers of this story, but it is also a good way to get into this story for those who don’t like it.

You will have the complete review in Spanish on my website soon.

As a child I loved Anne of Green Gables and was keen to introduce it to my daughter but she was reluctant to read 'an old book'. She loved the Manga style of this book and really enjoyed reading the story. I think it's an excellent way of telling the story and making it accessible for reluctant readers!

Never saw an episode of Anne of Green Gables or read any page from the original book. But as a manga fan, I could not help myself and started reading this one! I am impressed with how well the story was told through manga-style drawing and now I am totally hooked to read the book!

Anne is a young girl who looks for shelter and honestly, a family that would love her. Her childhood was pretty rough but she keeps trying her best, she always sees the good in other people and never judges. Her imagination, good disposition, and reactions are sometimes sweet, but there were times when I thought that she is too good for the people she met.

Hopefully, everything will settle for little Anne and I cannot wait to start reading the original series.

A fantastic graphic novel that accurately tells the story of Anne of Green Gables. Chan & Chan encapsulate Anne's joy and vivaciousness from the moment she appears on the page. Their drawings cleverly provide excellent context for each and every character and paired with well-considered dialogue provide generous insight into each character in the tale. This is a brilliant adaptation of the classic is a fantastic version for long time Anne fans, as well as newer readers, as it presents all of the best elements of the beloved story of Anne at Green Gables ensuring there will be no 'tragical' disappointment for any readers.

Truly beautiful!

Anne of the Green Gables's maga adaptation is not only accurate, but also it adds a new, heartwarming dimension to the story.

The art style is stunning and the story is extremely easy to follow because of how the panels are organized. The art captures the emotions of the characters perfectly, making it beautiful yet heart wrenching.

This was my first classics to manga adaptation, and I'm looking forward to diving into more of these! They are irresistible.

In addition to this, as an English Language and Literature teacher, I'm planning on incorporating these adaptations into my classes. They have inspired me to write a paper on the benefits of teaching classics through manga.

All in all, the idea of making classics into manga is ingenious.

I absolutely adored this read!! 5/5 if you've been a fan of Anne of green gables or you've become a fan, or have never even heard of this book you will love this story!! It has cottage core and it's about this girl named Anne being adopted by a pair of siblings and growing up in their town and the adventures and friends she meets along this way. This read completely submersed me in the story and I absoloutley fell in love with the way the author portrayed Anne and her story!! Everyone should go read this if they're looking for a nice light fun read!!

Anne of Green Gables is a book I simply adore, good for every ages. This manga adaptation is the same, the art was lovely and the story easy to follow. It did a great job following the original, some chapters shorter than others. I do think it could have spent more time on some parts, especially some secondary characters, but as it was already more than 300 pages, I think it did a good job showing us Anne and her life at Green Gables.

I love the idea of making classics more accessible. This was a great edition that not only explains manga to new readers, but also exposes readers to Anne of Green Gables!
