'Anne of Green Gables' is one of my all-time favorite books and I love to read manga. I am always a bit hesitant when I see books get adapted into manga/comic form, but I really enjoyed reading this one. The art work is very good and expressive. 'Anne' is the perfect book for a manga adaption and they did a great job of putting all the most important scenes in it and giving it new life. You can tell everyone involved loved and wanted to share this classic story. It could've easily been a cheap-looking book with mediocre art with no life but it wasn't and I'm very thankful.

What a wonderful take on a Classic Tale. Being from the Maritimes I am very familiar with this story and I loved this retelling!

Story of an 11 y/0 orphan girl who lived with the Cuthbert siblings (who intetionaly wanted a boy to help in the farm). They took pity on her (or maybe was just enchanted by her). Anne was a very open, talkative and mischievous girl. She had a long fight with one of his classmates Gilbert Blythe. Tragedy struck and, she had to change her plans. Gilbert sacrificed a job to help her.

Highly recommend this manga comics, if you can appreciate a simply illustrated story of a young, captivating girl, Anne of Green Gables (in black and white)

This was a very solid retelling of Anne of Green Gables. As a lifelong Anne fan, I was so excited to see this manga adaptation. The artwork was adorable, and I loved the characterization of Anne having giant, dream-filled eyes. Though the manga format was a little difficult for me to get used to at first, but it wasn’t too difficult to get used to it. All in all, I am strongly considering purchasing a physical copy to add to my collection of Anne memorabilia.

I grew up reading Anne of Green Gables and loved the series. My 9 year old prefers books like this that have more photos. This was a great way to share one of.y favorite books with her. Thank you to Net Galley for the ARC of this book. As always I only give honest reviews.

This is the book that made me the book lover I am today! I found this manga version charming and the artwork really helped tell the story in a way that young readers can appreciate the story. I also appreciated how the book has times where the artwork does the storytelling, there was not a need to use text to cover some of the art, it was enough on its own.

I think this is a great book that can introduce children to some of the classics their parents grew up on.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read this lovely book!

Anne of Green Gables has always been a delightful reading experience for me. This version in particular was in the form of classic manga style.

The illustrations were as delightful as the story itself. I loved all the details - Anne's hair, clothes, expressions; and I thought Matthew and Marilla were depicted perfectly. Some of the short manga-style chapters (almost-but-not-quite four-panel style) were surprisingly very impactful and memorable (such as the one with Anne's dyeing her hair green).

I'd never thought I'd need another adaption of Anne of Green Gables, but this one was an unexpected surprise. I flew through the beautiful pages and it was such a joy to experience.

Thanks to netgalley and Manga Classics for granting access to the arc of this evergreen children's classic. This is one of first arcs I received from netgalley and my first Manga.
Synopsis: Mathew Cuthbert and Marilla Cuthbert are siblings, planning to adopt a boy to help in their farm at Green Gables. But, Anne Shirley arrives on the train and this highly imaginative girl manages to win their hearts and is adopted instead. What follows is a coming of age story, every child would love to know.
Review: This is a highly celebrated classic which has withstood the test of time.
The story revolves around Anne , a highly imaginative , wierd , and as she calls herself , homely girl and her evolution from her adoption. The relationships in the story are quite heartwarming , be it with her adopted family or with her bosom friend Diana. I cannot comment on how perfect the adaptation is , since I've not read the original story. I loved the way the manga has focused on feminism , bullying and ambitions. The illustrations were beautiful and has done justice to the story, making it fast paced and easily imbibed. This is a book every girl need to read while growing up.

Though Anne of Green Gables is a classic, I’ve never read L.M. Montgomery’s novel, so this review is based solely on the Manga Classics edition.
I have always heard people praising the original book so when I got hands on this manga edition I was very happy and excited.
The story follows Anne(with an E) who arrives at Green Gables by mistake but charms everyone so much that she is adopted there. The story talks about a young Anne growing up into a woman.

I absolutely loved the book. I don't know what else to tell. Most amazing of all was Anne's character. She is a girl who is inquisitive and dreams of an independent life. Mind you, this story is set in early 1870s and thinking of a female character like this is something I find praiseworthy.

The book also made me emotional at the end where Anne grew into a wonderful woman.

The manga edition was very good. I felt it would be the same with the novels so I have decided to read the whole series

Though Anne of Green Gables is a classic, I’ve never read L.M. Montgomery’s novel, so this review is based solely on the Manga Classics edition with no external influences. In addition, this was my first experience reading manga. The transition was easy because there were directions and illustrations showing how to read manga. Also, there is additional content at the end which includes floor plans and setting illustrations. On top of that, Crystal S. Chan provides a narrative in which she discusses the process of adapting Anne of Green Gables. From an educator’s perspective, this is a valuable addition because it allows teachers to have an even deeper discussion concerning author’s purpose and audience.

The dialogue and narration were easy to follow and worked well to propel the plot of this story. The events were entertaining, humorous, and moving. I found myself laughing and crying at various moments.

In a little over 300 pages, Chan develops unique characters; I fell in love with Anne (spelled with an E). Of course, I thank L.M. Montgomery for that, but Chan’s dialogue choices and actions convey Anne’s imaginative spirit and stubborn nature. Though the novel is set in the past, Anne’s personality and her experiences allow middle grade readers to relate to her.

Many of the messages are relevant to today’s readers. The idea that education is a means of improving one’s condition develops throughout the text and culminates at the end of the story. Though ambition, success, and achievement are admired, loving one’s family and being happy to sacrifice one’s own desires in order to care for others proves to be the most admirable character trait. In our 21st century society, this concept is one that students may rarely see in their own lives. It may also be one that is more difficult to understand and can lead to thought provoking discussions.

Overall, this adaption is sure to bring a new generation of reader to Avonlea, and they, as I am, will be forever changed.

This manga adaptation of Anne of Green Gables was approved by the original author's (LM Montgomery) estate/family, so this adaptation is really faithful to the original book. I love manga, and I would have loved this as a teenager when I preferred manga over prose books. I think comic and manga adaptations are a great way to bring classics to the masses, especially to younger and global audiences and especially if they are faithful to the source material as this one is.

Thank you to netgalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this so much!! Having this story told in a manga setting really brought Anne to life. It was really well done.

I love Anne of Green Gables, it truly is a classic for a reason. I didn't expect this to be any different from the story I know and love - I simply love the Manga Classics and the illustrations in them. It adds something almost nostalgic to the pages. I give this 5/5 stars, and would recommend this beautiful edition to anyone who loves the story, or anyone looking to read a classic for the first time.

I'm not a big manga fan (those enormous eyes drive me nutso!), but I'll take Anne any way I can get her. (Hence the crocheted version sitting near my computer who likes to constantly remind me how lucky we are to live in a world where there are Octobers.)

This is a pretty good adaptation; some of the dialogue is taken verbatim from the book, and the writer has captured the essence of Anne. Her enthusiasm for life, and flair for drama translates well into one of these exaggerated characters.

A few minor complaints: I have to wonder why they included the hair-dying incident that led to Anne's near-scalping, only to show Anne, just a few months later, with braids trailing down her back. It probably would have been better to just leave this episode out of the book. Matthew looked like a bit too much like an Amish man, while poor Gilbert resembles a One Piece wannabe.

I'd hate to think that this might be a young girl/woman's first (or god forbid - ONLY!) exposure to Anne's world, though if it encourages anyone to pick up Montgomery's original book, then I applaud the effort.

Growing up reading and watching stories about Anne of Green Gables, I never thought I would see a manga version of this classic. I was pleasantly surprised with how the story was merged into the manga style and how beautiful the art work is. Everything that the original classic has, is well portrayed in this manga edition. It was a well thought manga and we can see at the end of the book the process of the development of this amazing story. I would like to see other classics in this style, it was entertaining and I’m sure that with this style people will find classics appealing.

This adaptation was magical!

I fell in love with Anne's story when I was a kid and it has been a mission of mine to watch as many adaptations as I can and to also read as many books I can find so you can't imagine my happiness when I stumbled across this manga! And the fact that I could read it too? Well pure magic.

I devoured this manga in one sitting. I couldn't stop reading even if I wanted to. This adaptation was perfect, it captured all the emotions and was simply beautiful. I loved being back in Green Gables and I can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy of this!

Read this, you won't regret it, it's magical, wonderful and just gorgeous.

Thank u Netgalley for this manga.

I adore Anne with all my heart, and knowing that she has a manga made me want to read it.

Come on, who isn't a fan of Anne with an e? The truth is that the story is so sweet and beautiful that you can finish the series in less than a week.

This book tells us through drawings and dialogues the life of Anne who is an orphan who has been adopted by some brothers, she will learn what it is to have a family and she will also meet her best friend Diana and maybe also her new friend Gilbert, it is a beautiful story and quick to read, besides being one of the classic books that you must read.
The drawings are beautiful and well done, the dialogues are short but adequate.

I've always had a notion to read Anne of Green Gables but have yet to. Reading this however has stirred to me to do so because I absolutely love this story. The Manga was done beautifully and I loved the way they captured wiles of Anne and her "imaginating" as well as the rivalary between her and Gilbert. Such a fun and lovely read.

Thank you so much to NetGalley, Manga Classics and the authors/artists for allowing me to read this and give it an honest review.
