What a fantastic manga adaptation of the beloved story Anne of Green Gables! I'd quite forgotten how good this story was, and reading the manga makes me want to go back and read the actual book! I will admit I was a little disappointed that the book did not include the scene where Anne falls off the roof. Overall though, I was happy with this adaptation.

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was so fun to read. I loved seeing the classic Anne of green gables characters in manga form. I highly recommend this to read if you love the classic as much as I do.

Manga meets children's book! A really well done conversion of the children's book classic. The illustrator has a very nice style that fits well with the story.

I have always loved this story! Come wander down The White Way, and stroll past the Lake of Shining Waters to get lost in Green Gables. This retelling of the classic tale follows the story of Anne Shirley an 11 year old orphan mistakenly sent to live with brother and sister Matthew and Marilla. They had wanted to adopt a boy to help around their farm, and were disappointed that a girl was sent.. However, after meeting Anne and seeing what a unique way that she sees the world, they decide to let her stay. The story follows Anne as she adjusts to life in Avonlea and Green Gables, and as she grows up. This is an older story, but the message and main points of it are timeless. Anne is not afraid to be herself, no matter what anyone else may say. She is even a bit of a feminist in a pre-feminism world. I think this story is still relevant to the modern girl, especially told in this manga format. Reading it this way clears out the older language style that may be confusing for some readers, but the message still remains clear through the dialogue and illustrations. I wasn't sure that I would like reading this in this style, but it was so good that I read the whole thing in just a few hours! At the end of the book the author has a few pages to explain the writing process of changing a classic book to a manga, and I thought that was a great addition. This is one you should definitely give a try, no matter your age. I can't wait to read more in this manga classics series!

Special thanks to NetGalley for providing a digital copy in exchange for an honest review

AHHHH! I don't even know where to start. I haven't read the original book, but I have watched (and absolutely adored) Anne with an E on Netflix. I had read that the show gets quite different from the source material so I was pleasantly surprised that this was pretty similar to the first season of the show. Other reviews I've read have said this is fairly accurate to the original book. I was always wary to read the books because I know how old they are and I knew it was different from the show that introduced me to Anne, but reading this has made me super antsy and excited to get my hands on the whole original series.

For a book that was dialogue and pictures, this did such an amazing job portraying Anne's emotions throughout her trials and tribulations. I don't think I can say enough positive things about this

Prince Edward Island had no idea what it was in for when Anne Shirley came to town! Siblings Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert had intended to adopt a boy to help them on their farm...enter Anne. She is bright and curious and brightens up everyone's lives...and causes a little trouble along the way.

I don't read manga very often, but when I saw this was a retelling of Anne of Green Gables I checked it out immediately. It was a fun read and the graphics were very cute. I wonder if the other books in the series will ever be published.

I was provided this book to read in exchange for an honest opinion. I'd like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

Very sweet artwork. The manga does a nice job of translating Montgomery's classic novel, sticking very closely to the original source material. A nice way for readers to sample the novel before actually reading it

Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorite series of all time. I’ve reread the original book series too many times to count, and enjoyed it each time. I am also fond of the movies starring Megan Follows. With that said, I’d like to say this manga adaptation stays true to the dialogue and captures the charm of the series, while giving a fresh take on the appearance of the supporting characters (Matthew’s beard was a surprise).

The art style is catered to younger audiences (more of a kiddie shojo art style), but as an adult I still find it cute. Overall, I think this would be a wholesome read for children in elementary school. 4 stars.

I have read lots of these manga classics and loved them. Unlike many people I didn't read Anne of Green Gables as a child and this was my first experience with this book and I found it to be absolutely delightful and I may consider picking up the other books in the series especially if they are published in manga format.

The art made the story easier to follow along, but once again I find myself uninterested in the plot of the original classic that's been adapted here.

Anne of Green Gables is a heartwarming story about Anne and her adopted family Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. They didn't get good start but as they spent time together, the bonding grow strong and they become real family.

I love how this artwork successfuly pick right scene to built their mutual affection. I personally get interest with over dramatic Anne and most of characters at here. And the manga version give advantage to show us the thought of characters right alongside the event. It is help me to really understand the character faster than book narrate.

Well adapted and quite accurate to the real story. The artwork very beautiful and enjoyable. It is fun way to read classics. Totally will read another story, thanks for the chance Netgalley.

This is a lovely adaptation of one of my all time favorite books! I liked that many scenes seemed to be taken directly from the books, while the manga format definitely added some humor. The story started to feel a little rushed during the middle, but that’s what happens when you have time skips several pages in a row. That said, I’m still impressed that so much plot was able to fit into this manga!

I received an eARC in return for an honest review; thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity.

This was another delightful adaptation of classic literature into manga form, the whimsical nature of Anne’s musings were very well translated into this comic form.

It was a fun, quick read - in particular this adaptation did a great job focusing on the relationships of the characters, particularly the female characters.

Would definitely recommend for fans of this series.

Really disappointed because I loved the original book but I couldn't read the comic. The file type wouldn't download. The cover looks amazing though.

I am not a fan of Anne of Green Gables. I didn't like the original story or the show so I was certain I wouldnt like this one. WOW. I loved it. something about it being put into manga put its in the middle ground of show and book and. I liked it a lot more just like this. It wasn't my favorite manga classics, but I def still enjoyed reading it.

"Anne of Green Gables" has been a favourite of mine since I was a kid and saw the movies and read the first book. I just fell completely in love with it. I've re-watched the movies countless times, and read more of the series as well as diving into L.M. Montgomery's other books. Anne is a kindred spirit with her red hair and big imagination. When I saw that there was a manga adaptation - with gorgeous cover art -, I immediately wanted to read it.

The art is so beautiful. The attention to detail not only with the settings, but also with the characters makes the reading experience so special. Anne, Marilla, and Diana in particular have some of the best art. Mathew was a little surprising - I have the picture of the actors from the movies and the show in my head -, but at the same time his face looked so kind. Gilbert was also a bit of a shock in that he was drawn rather like a typical manga/anime bad-boy. As in, messy, spiky hair. It took some getting used to for sure.

Another thing I liked about the art is the facial expressions. There are close-ups in key moments, but there are also those typical manga/anime facial expressions that I love so much. They added humour to the story because Anne is SO EXPRESSIVE. There are also close ups of different characters or settings to highlight them, which I think was lovely.

The story itself starts off strong. If you're familiar with the movies or the book you'll recognize a lot of the imagery and dialogue in the beginning of the manga. I really loved being able to recognize key lines from the original text, and I think they were included beautifully. The manga focuses heavily on Anne when she's first with the Cuthberts, and then some time jumps begin. The time jumps are not always clear in that Anne and the other characters don't change physically until Anne has suddenly gone through puberty and her dresses become more grown up. I don't love that the timeline has such big leaps, because I know parts of the story are being left out. Namely, the romance.

The other thing that detracted from my enjoyment is that sometimes the dialogue was too modern. This didn't happen all the time, but it happened enough that those phrases stood out and took me out of the story. I wish that the language had been kept uniform throughout so as to be more true to the book and the time period in which it's set.

But really, this "Anne of Green Gables" manga is truly lovely. I had such a fun time reading it. It's been awhile since I watched or read "Anne", and it felt like coming home to dive back into this world and revisit some lovely characters. Just be aware that some plotlines are cut out or simplified, and the language isn't consistent.

Anne of Green Gables has such a special place in my heart, as I used to watch the movies with my family.

Ahhh this was so adorable. Since I have recently become obsessed with reading graphic novels, mangas, manhwas, and webtoons, this definitely fulfilled my obsession haha.

I highly recommend these to anyone who enjoys manga or Anne of Green Gables.

I feel like these would actually be really good for kids to read to help them understand better.

Anne of Green Gables is a classic novel that I never got around reading to it. However I love reading graphic novels, comics and mangas and I was really excited to see this one.

The book is about older siblings - Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert who were planning to adopt an orphan boy but end up adopting an orphan girl named Anne which happened due to a mix up by the head of the orphanage. Anne is an extremely imaginative and expressive girl. The book is in a manga format which has various chapters around the life of Anne adjusting in her new home - The Green Gables, her daily life and the people she interacts with.

The beginning of the story seems to be relaxed but towards the second half of the book it seems to be rushed. This makes you feel the disconnect in between and made me add the novel in my TBR because I am curious to know and read the story in that format now. The illustrations are cute and each chapters is like a day or episode in Anne's life. Definitely recommend! I read it digitally but I am sure reading it via book would be more fun!
