I was given an advanced digital copy from NetGalley.

I have not read the source material, however I have watched some television and movie adaptations, so I cannot speak to how true it is to the source material.

I enjoyed this manga, it subtly showed a passage of time through the children growing that I did not really notice upon first reading, but as Anne grows older, her character art does mature. This is something that is unique to graphic novel or manga adaptations as you cannot actually age an actor in a film adaptation, so it shows a different nuanced element that can't be done in other adaptations.

I saw the owner of the company speak at OLA and was looking forward to reading this when it came out because he mentioned that it was approved by the Estate of LM Montgomery.

There are some things that I took "issue" with, but that has more to do with the format than the adaptation choices-- the main being how quickly some story lines sped through because they have a finite amount of space to fill the whole story. This is more of an issue with trying to condense a large book into a quick reading format.

The character depictions display emotion in an easy to digest way and the thought bubbles and speech are used in a concise, to the point manner, which will make comprehension of the story easy for the reader.

A great read if you want the general story and important characters in "Anne of Green Gables."

I will never say no to a new version of a well loved story like Anne of Green Gables. This was a really well done graphic novel/manga version. As with all adaptations, some details are glossed over or the timeline is shortened, but I did not feel like I missed any of my favorite parts. Plus the manga version designs Anne in such a cute spunky way. Loved it!

I am a big proponent of manga and comics as a gateway into reading. I adore the book Anne of Green Gables, and this is a beautiful manga adaption that would be enjoyable for younger readers to ease into more reading as well as fun for older adults to remember an old favorite. The art is gorgeous, and I love that it stays very true to all the dialogue from the book. A beautiful addition to both my Anne of Green Gables collection and my Manga Classics collection.

Anne of green gables is a classic tale. Over the years, it's gained popularity due to it's strong storyline, solid writing and it being so relatable. It's been adapted into a trillion shows, movies, plays, cartoons. And that is the reason i went in this with high hopes, and man, did it deliver. Anne of green gables being one of my favorite tales of all time, i loved this book This book to manga adaptation lost nothing in it's way. The content was there, it was accurate to the story, and it did the books justice.

The art style was perfect. The manga really gives of a perfect vibe of the story. The manga preserves the very dramatic effect of the book. The characters were so accurate to the description in the book, and their bonds were as beautiful as LM Montgomery made them in her books.

All in all, i loved the manga. If you're a fan of the book or the TV show 'Anne with an E' please read this, and even if you've never heard of either of them before and you're new to the reading community, I'm sure this book will have the same effect on you as the classic tale has.

This is exactly like I remember Anne of Green Gables but in manga form. Definitely a great style. Very whimsical and wide eyed. Anne is delightful just as she is in the original. A woe is me, drama filled teenage girl. Outspoken and fiery as ever. If only all classics could be retold so well in manga form I would read titles over and over again. #MangaClassicsAnneofGreenGables #NetGalley

What can I say? The Manga classics have been a great experience up until now, and Anne of Green Gables is one of my favourite books. This manga classic was new, and simultaneously felt like a warm blanket of familiarity. It brought the story across very well, not only because it is a very accurate adaptation, but also because it managed to capture the atmosphere of the book into the drawings. It certainly inspired me to go and read the series again.

One thing that is good to be aware of: while usually manga's start at what we westerlings see as the last page of the book and end at the front of the book, this one starts at the front. It had been too long since I read any Manga Classics adaptations, so I made the mistake of starting at the back xD It's not a big deal though.

I love Anne of Green Gables, it's something I was introduced to as a child and always has that nostalgic feeling to it. I really enjoyed this retelling of it as it condensed down a lot of the key scenes and themes of the original story. The art style perfectly captured Anne and the other characters, with everyone being unique and recognizable. Sometimes these manga re-imaginings don't lend themselves as well to classics, but this one fit perfectly.

Anne Shirley Cutberth is the most delightful , bold and hilarious character I have known in fictions. She is a dreamer and a lover of nature , relationships and friendships. She makes the green gables sound nothing less than a paradise on earth . I have not read the classic but had watched the Netflix series . This manga classic had beautiful illustrations , the story flowed perfectly.. I loved the portrayal of all the characters Especially Anne.. It did justice to the story . It was a bit challenging to read the ebook but I am sure the physical copy would be a delight to read and cherish.

• Anne of green gables
So I have read anne of green gable classic version before and so many times that I've memorized it, so I kind of had somewhat mediocre expectations from this version.

But, this was so good! When I finished, I had such a satisfied and nostalgic feeling.

It did skip some scenes that were in the classic book, but it stayed very loyal to the other scenes included down to the very descriptive words.

I loved seeing Anne and Diana in manga style! Gilbert's character design threw me off a bit, but I got used to him fast with the flow.

I really loved seeing their interpretation of Gilbert and his angst with Anne.

So I recommend this graphic novel to anyone who wanna dive in some classic without getting bored or serious at some points.

Also last but not the least kudos to the graphic artist. You did good.

**Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!!**

I have always loved the tale of Anne of Green Gables, and this manga did an amazing job.
This was actually my first time reading a manga and I am glad it was this one. It was much the same story as the original, nothing much was added or changed. The illustrations was also well done. Can't wait to recommend this manga to my fellow Green Gables lovers.

Well, this is the first manga I've ever read and I enjoyed it so much.
This book had been so much time in my TBR list and this was the best way for me to read the first book of this amazing series.
So, I think this is the kind of stuff that new generations need to know more about classic literature.

Anne of Green Gables is such a lovely story about a little orphan girl. The adventures she lives and the amazing imagination she has. I can't wait for read the next books.

I loved the relationship between Anne and Marilla. The way Marilla finally accepted Anne and treated her like a daughter was so beautiful.
Also, Dianna was such a lovely friend. She's the kind of friend we always want with us.
And Gilbert, well, I cant wait for read more about him in the next books.

I loved everything about this amazing book. But I really liked the art style of the manga, it was so beautiful and perfect.

I'm so grateful to Netgalley and Manga Classics for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Yes! It's another Manga Classic! I've been waiting a while for the next one in this series, and I couldn't be happier that it's Anne of Green Gables.

In case you haven't heard of Manga Classics: the whole goal is to adapt many of the classics, in ways that are more approachable for a broader scope of readers. Readers who might never have read the classics otherwise. I absolutely love this idea, for obvious reasons.

Written by L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables truly is a classic worth reading. That's why I'm so excited for the adaptation, as it will hopefully mean that more people will read it down the line.

As with any adaptation, changes must be expected. After all, they're trying to fit a full-sized novel into the time and space of a graphic novel. Still, I think they did a wonderful job here. It was faithful to the core concept of the novel, trying to cut out as little as possible. Easier said than done, I know.

All of the charm that made Anne of Green Gables what it is present here, with the added benefit of visual elements. It's actually quite perfect, and I can't say enough positive things about it. I love that many of the details described were shown in the artwork itself, allowing them to circumvent some of the show/tell issues.

Honestly, the art style is perfect. It's actually how I would have pictured it all in my head, if one had asked me to throw a manga twist into the mix. That's one more positive to throw in the list for this adaptation.

In short, this is a faithful and fun adaptation, and is well worth the read. Regardless of if you have or have not read the original!

Anne of green Gables is one of my favorite young people's books and I've seen all of the series adaptations as well as read the books. I love the story of Anne and Gilbert.

The cover with Anne and Green Gables in the background is perfect as a cover image. The colors are great and the drawing style is exactly my taste. I think it's well done.

The story of Anne, which ends up on Green Gables due to a mix-up and is recorded by the Cuthbert siblings, is simply a classic that no child should miss. Anne is just a great character to like, even if she is a little special.

The drawing style is beautiful and made perfect for me. The characters are hit perfectly and I was immediately back in the story. The manga is a very good translation of the story and I'm really excited that a work by Lucy M. Montgomery managed to be implemented as a manga.

For me he deserves 5 stars and will be one of my favorites.

I really enjoyed this! It was a faithful adaptation, down to keeping the original chapter titles. While certain things did receive more focus than others, I absolutely agree with the writer's choice to keep the main focus on Anne and Marilla, as this is easily the relationship that experiences the most subtle and meaningful growth throughout the story. I have seen a great many adaptions of Anne of Green Gables for screen, stage, etc. and have noticed that they often focus on just Anne's perspective, leaving Marilla to come across as rather harsh at the beginning. When reading the original book after growing up with these adaptations, I was struck by how much attention L.M. Montgomery paid to private conversations between Matthew and Marilla about their decision to adopt Anne and how much earlier they grew to care about her than it sometimes appeared in the movies and plays. As a hopeful future adoptive parent, these conversations really resonated with me and so I was delighted to find that they made their way into this manga adaptation!

The art is lovely and does a good job of representing the characters while maintaining the beauty and unique qualities of the manga style. Anne looks quirky, adorable, and beautiful in a way that she cannot see but the reader cannot miss. Gilbert is cute in a feisty way with a hairstyle that is often seen on rebellious anime heroes and antiheroes -- it suits him quite well! Everyone else looks just as I'd picture an anime version of them would look.

If I had to note one critique, it's that some characters who were more significant in the original tale, like Miss Stacey, are given much more minor roles here with few or no personal conversations with Anne. The writer had to choose some aspects to focus on in this shorter adaptation and chose to prioritize Anne's relationships with Marilla and Diana over her relationships with other characters like Miss Stacey. I understand this choice and did not find my enjoyment of the manga to be lessened by this decision, but if you have a particular favorite character who got sidelined, you might not feel the same.
