Although I found the storyline to be intriguing, I found the way in which it was executed wasn't really for me.
The book itself was written well, however I just couldn't connect with this story.
Unfortunately this book wasn't for me.

Madeline and Elliot, friends and dance partners, have undying love for each other. Yet they both want to prove that they don't love each other more than just friendship. Remember Me shows that friendship can bloom into something more.

But, after an accident that causes Madeline to lose all her memory of Elliot, they have to fight for their friendship, and discover their love for each other.

I gave Remember Me 3.5 stars. I am a huge fan of friends to lovers romance, but I felt that the romance between Madeline and Elliot was something that I felt partial to. This was definitely a slow burn but. I felt like the burn between Madeline and Elliot was lacking and I felt somewhat normal when I was reading it. It didn't make me have a feeling between two characters that I usually felt in other slow burns.

And I felt like the way they discovered their love was... Okay. There was nothing truly special with the way Madeline and Elliot came together.

I wanted to fully enjoy the way their romance but I could not.

I just couldn't get in to this book. It felt like the middle of the story was already in process in the first chapter. I got lost and then didn't care to pick it back up.

My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I'm rating this a 3.5 out of 5. I just couldn't buy the various misunderstandings and the reason for the distance between the two main characters. I'm not a fan of the "misunderstanding" and "sacrifice love for your career/art" tropes. Decently written, but not for me.

I will be honest on this: I was drawn to this book because of the cover, but what really made me want to read it was the book description. I have always been drawn to ballroom dancing, so I was intrigued by this. Remember Me was not at all was I was anticipating. I was expecting a novel with the perspective of the main female character, Amanda, not the main male character, Eliot. The novel does include Amanda’s perspective throughout the novel at certain points, but it is mostly written from Eliot’s perspective. Eliot is a soulful character with a ton of complex emotions, but it bothered me throughout the novel that he seemed to have a blind eye to his true feelings about Ananda. Nevertheless, this novel managed to capture my attention, so much in fact that I read it in one night.

Amanda and Eliot have been dancing with each other for several years. Amanda is in love with Eliot and cannot bring herself to tell him, in fear of ruining their dancing relationship. Tragedy strikes and they have to piece the life they once had back together. The road that they take is not an easy one, with Eliot having to do a lot of the heavy lifting, but the few Amanda scenes are absolutely heartbreaking to read.

Beautifully written, emotional and soulful. Quick-easy read. Romance with drama. No ballroom dancing scenes.

Remember Me by Mikaël D. Lemieux is advanced copy reading provided by the publishers.

I didn’t connect with this book. I felt that it jumped into the story too quickly and there was not enough exposition. I wasn’t sure of the main character’s motivations, or really anything about her until much later in the story. I found myself not caring about the characters because I didn’t know them. That really took me out of the story.

I think this could be better with some more exposition and character development.

Mikael Lemieux brings us the story of two best friends Madeline and Elliot. This is a story of what happens when your best friend gets into an accident and doesn't remember you at all? Elliot cannot imagine a life where his best friend is not a part of it, where she did not take part in all the joyful and painful moments of his life. He remembers it all, but she cannot recall any of it. She may not remember him, but Elliot is determined to help her get back the memories they shared at the cost of their families and his girlfriend. Will Madeline remember their lives together or did something happen that made her want to forget Elliot altogether?

I enjoyed going on this journey with Madeline and Elliot. I look forward to reading more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this privilege.

Overall: real good (which is slightly lower than really good) I gave it 5 stars because the story is good despite my notes below.
Standalone story
A lot of angst and drama; little humor
Hero/Heroine: Elliott and Madaline - best friend dance partners
Storyline: Friends to 'finally' admitting love
Recommend: yes - it is a beautiful story
Personal Observation/notes: The story is beautiful and mostly told from Elliott's perspective in third person. The book could have used a final edit as there were some words (such as the, a, it) missing and in some of the more intense scenes, the wrong pronoun was used (such as 'he' when it should have been 'she'). If you can overlook these small errors, which I suspect that English is possibly not the author's native language, read this book; is is a lovely romance.

REMEMBER ME is a beautiful and compelling romance with original but flawed characters who keep you captivated and make you feel for them as the story unfolds. If you love romance then this is one book you must read.

This had a really interesting plot. I loved the concept of trying to regain lost memories. It was unique and really gripping. The first 40 of the book was amazing. After that, however, it went downhill for me a little. While the concept of losing memory makes for a really gripping plot; it does have the downside of being a massive overload of information when the memories do start to come back. It made it tough to read and my interest dipped.
I also wish that there was more dancing content - its what brought them together and it was such a prominent part of their lives it felt odd that other than reminiscing it was barely touched upon.
I liked Elliot a lot as a character. The pain he was going through was so heartbreaking and I really enjoyed reading his parts. I liked Madeline less sadly. Maybe it was because so much was about her rediscovering herself, it meant there wasn't much about her to connect her with the reader. I also felt like some of the decisions she made were just hurtful and a little unbelievable. It felt like she did things because she had to for the plot rather than because she would have actually done it. I didn't like Janet but I get the feeling you're not meant to as a reader so she was very well written in that case. I did however really like Danton and I wish we had more of him to read because he was beyond sweet.
My last gripe was that hunter was added so late into the plot. It felt like he was added because the author needed an out to make Elliot less of a bad guy. If he had been there from the offset then it would have felt a lot more fleshed out.
To end on a positive note, I really enjoyed the early flashbacks to when they were children. That was so nice to see their friendship in full force and really give you a reason to route for them.
Overall 3.5 Stars
