As a single person, I was looking forward to this cookbook to see what recipes I could make in my toaster oven without using my big oven. Just my size. And, I wasn't disappointed in the variety of recipes available. There is a nice multi-page table that lists things you can cook in a toaster oven, along with cooking times and temps and special notes. A caution that several of the recipes use a convection oven, which may or may not be a part of your current toaster oven (not mine). I found a few things in the book that were annoying:

First, the review copy was in greyscale only. That made a couple of the font choices appear very inaccessible to those with reduced vision. White fonts on a light grey (presumably will be pastel) background, and also subheadings in light grey (presumably will be pastel color) on a white background. The publisher needs to consider this, so the book is more accessible to all. Increasing the contrast between font and background is necessary.

In addition, the choice of full-page photos seems to lean more towards the artistic than toward actual photos of the finished recipes. I'd say that 1/3 of all the photos are of the raw materials (e.g., a cutting board with greens and a knife, an arrangement of garlic cloves and rosemary leaves, peaches and a knife on a countertop) instead of the finished product. Any cookbook should focus on showing photos of the finished recipes, so the reader will want to make and eat them. They can see the raw materials in their garden or the grocery. Also, in at least one case, the same dish is shown in full page photos on two facing pages. Seems to be a waste of valuable space.

In conclusion, there are a number of very interesting recipes in this book, and sized for just a few servings at most. But, potential purchasers need to be aware of some of the failings and weigh whether it would be a good investment.

Toaster Oven Takeover is right up my alley: I love using my toaster oven to cook just about everything. (My regular oven is mostly used for storage these days.) The authors provide in depth instructions on how to use your standard toaster oven, and I agree, modern convection ovens are a lifesaver!

I liked the warnings about using foil in your toaster ovens (I use foil all of the time, but in conjunction with an aluminium or metal pan, and, also as suggested by the authors, I always make sure that the foil never touches the side or top of the toaster oven. You are also warned NEVER to use foil on the drip tray: it is a fire hazard. We have to remember that the element is much closer to the foil than it would be in a regular stove. The authors also warn the reader against using glass or other non-metal ovenware in a toaster oven. Again, your dish is way too close to the elements to be safe. (Note: I've used those thick foil take out trays from the dollar stores with no problems, although I do put them on a sheet pan or tray for ease of removal (and extra safety.) All of these suggestions are to be found in this very well planned toaster oven cook book.

And now for the yummy recipes! The prepare-ahead toaster oven breakfast oatmeal sounds delicious and easy to assemble the night before. But let's head straight to lunch and dinner! The Thai Chicken pizza with Cauliflower Crust sounds delicious - and healthy for the no-carb/low-carb chefs out there. I, for one, am definitely going to try the Stromboli recipe - sounds like a great lunch on the go for busy people like me!

After you make your way through the main dishes, like Chicken Wellington (my personal favourite!), Steak with Herbed Butter, Chipotle-Glazed SouthWestern Meatloaf, Sheet Pan Beef Fajitas, Honey Glazed Ginger Pork Meatballs and Middle Eastern Roasted Chicken, you can try some of their dip suggestions: Artichoke dip and Carmelized Onion dip. The Sheet Pan Loaded Nachos will fill up any empty spaces that the previous entrees may have left behind!

There are also plenty of side dishes: Loaded Cauliflower Casserole and a tantalizing recipe for Roasted Fennel with Wine and Parmesan. The Parmesan and Garlic French Fries look easy to whip up and will be gone in a flash, they sound so tasty!

For dessert, you can't go wrong with the Best Ever Cinnamon Rolls recipe, but the Danish Pecan Pastry is also tempting! For us coffee lovers, we get a double whammy with Espresso Chip Muffins. The Lemon Blueberry Scones will be next on my list after I scarf down a few of those muffins!

I usually comment on the layout and the pictures, which I always enjoy looking at. Alas, this ARC was in black, white and grey. I therefore have to take off a point and rate this cookbook ARC a 4 out of 5, because I also eat with my eyes! My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this cookbook in exchange for an honest review.

Loved this book about cooking with a toaster oven! I do not have an oven and only use a toaster oven. I found it very informative and will use some of the ideas. The recipes sound great and will be making some of them. There were recipes in her that I would never have thought I could do in my toaster oven. I would have enjoyed more colored pictures of the recipes .Personal preference, I guess. I am a visual person and like to see what I am making!
Thank you to NetGalley, Tiller Press, and Simon & Schuster, Inc. for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review!

Who knew! You can make just about anything in a toaster oven that you can in a REGULAR oven. Neat! This cookbook covers the full gauntlet of meals from breakfast to dessert and then some. The food sounds and looks delicious, with some lovely tantalizing photos throughout. I have but one real concern about this cookbook - who's the audience? A lot of the recipes, most of them really, are for multiple servings intended for families. I don't think there's a lot of people out there using a toaster oven to cook for their families on the regular, and I think this cookbook would have been better suited to one or two serving recipes - smaller portions for a smaller oven. Still, it's a useful book to expand your horizons of toaster oven use, and there's lots of helpful info in the front and back for beginning cooks who might actually be using a toaster oven for the first time.

I still think of toaster ovens as vehicles for providing cheese toast and mini pizzas, so I was not not sure what the expect from this book. However, we purchased a combination air fryer and toaster oven recently and want to make full use of it. I was surprised by the variety of recipes! They did not seem too simple or lackluster. I certainly wasn't expecting recipes with fresh sage, chicken wellington, or fish with olive and capers. This is no dorm room cookbook!

There are a large number of recipes that I will share with my 9 and 12-year-olds who make their own lunch every day, and while fully capable of using the stove and oven sometimes want to make a meal quickly in between school meetings. I also enjoyed the number of dinner and side dishes. It will be really useful especially in hot weather when I don't want to turn on the full oven. The individual pot pies look very similar to the recipe I already use, but on a smaller scale and leaves the oven open. Overall I would definitely recommend this book and am looking forward to trying more of the recipes in it! Thanks to the publisher for the ARC.

**I received and voluntarily read an e-ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.**

My regular oven is broken, so this cookbook was a lifesaver! Excellent recipes, and I'll be getting copies of this book for all of my friends for holidays and birthdays.

Toaster Oven Takeover: Easy and Delicious Recipes to Make in Your Toaster Oven by Roxanne Wyss & Kathy Moore
Publisher: Tiller Press
Genre: Cooking, Food & Wine
Release Date: April 7, 2021

Toaster Oven Takeover is a recipe book by Roxanne Wyss & Kathy Moore featuring recipes made in your toaster oven. I will be the first to admit that my toaster over is seriously underused (toast, hot dogs, & dinner rolls here!) and now it will be getting a workout!

The beginning of the book discusses the basics of how to use the toaster over (for more than just toast), what supplies you'll need and some suggestions on what you can cook in the toaster oven.
The recipes are broken into themed categories, to help you best find what you want to make. I wish there was nutrition information provided, but I understand that there are too many variables for it to be accurate.

For breakfast & brunch, some of the recipes include Pecan-Topped Oatmeal, English Muffin Express Sandwich, Maple Bacon, and Apricot Coffee Cake. There are also pizza & flatbread recipes that sound incredible (Stromboli, anyone?), as well as toasts, crostini & sandwiches. There are recipes for appetizers & snacks, like Baked Spinach & Artichoke Dip and Sweet Chili Glazed Wings and side dishes that include a casserole, french fries, and veggies sides. There are also recipes for sheet pan dinners, casseroles & one dish dinners, means & mains, desserts & breads.

I can't wait to try out some of these recipes and putting my toaster oven to work!

I'm so grateful to Roxanne Wyss & Kathy Moore, Tiller Press, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.

A great resource for students, single individuals, empty-nesters, or anyone looking to cook on a smaller scale! While certainly not a new concept, toaster oven cooking appears to be on an uptick with similar recently-published works. For example, Toaster Oven Perfection from America's Test Kitchen (Pub. Dec 22, 2020).

Thank you to Netgalley, Roxanne Wyss, Kathy Moore, and Tiller Press for the ARC of Toaster Oven Takeover in return for my honest review.

Toaster Oven Takeover would be a perfect gift for a college student or as a housewarming gift for someone moving into their first apartment! The book provides easy recipes to follow with limited appliances/cooking utensils. I prepared many of the recipes using both regular oven as well toaster oven and they all turned out great!

My only disappointment is I wish there were more photos of the finished recipes.

More of meals that would be a "fancy" type of meal - which can be great. But not if you are looking for comfort or easy meals.

Almost everyone has a toaster oven, and it’s the only oven some students and those who live in a small room have access to. That’s why Toaster Oven Takeover: Easy and Delicious Recipes to Make in Your Toaster Oven by Roxanne Wyss and Kathy Moore is so timely and so appealing. This cookbook is filled with dozens of mouthwatering recipes that are mostly easy, so even if the toaster oven is the only one you have, you can have good meals anytime.

This cookbook covers the important facts about toaster ovens, as well as hints for being successful when using it. Most recipes include instructions for using a convection oven, too as a bonus. There are plenty of appetizers, snacks, side dishes, and main dishes to make the most stubborn resort to the toaster oven, although most of the recipes, with a little alteration, can be made in a regular oven. But the toaster oven is fun, so most will want to stick with it. Most of the casseroles are pasta, which is a favorite with everyone, and for those who enjoy plainer meat and potato dishes, there are also good instructions for making a juicy steak or a Tuscan Pork Tenderloin in the toaster oven. The book also includes luscious breads as well as appealing desserts. The recipes have nuances from all over the world: Spain, Middle East, Italy, Mexico, Asia, so there is something for everyone here.

The only disappointing thing about this cookbook is that the photos are not in color. This is the 21st century; color photographs have been around for decades, and there is no excuse for blah black and white photos that don’t show off the beauty of the dishes.

Highly recommended, albeit the lack of pictures, because this cookbook has recipes that will appeal to everyone.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

This was a very interesting idea for a book and was filled with new ideas for ways to use my toaster oven that I had not thought of before. I feel like I will defiantly be using mine a lot more now.

Perfect for college students! This fantastic little cookbook has scrumptious recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, sides and desserts. All of the recipes are easy to follow with short ingredient lists.. Great for using in addition to your oven or in place of an oven.

Thank you to Tiller Press and NetGalley for allowing me to read a pre-release of this cookbook. My review is voluntary and all opinions are my own.

A bit disappointed in the Toaster Oven Takeover cookbook as it's formatting seems non-standard. Most cookbooks give an intro (not always but it's done), recipe title, ingredients list and then cooking directions. The Toaster Oven Takeover cookbook was confusing to read as it seems to give the recipe directions followed by the ingredients list.

I did read the tips how to safely use a toaster oven (i.e. what type of bakeware to use, don't use parchment paper except in specific instances, and how to clean it.

I would have liked this cookbook a whole lot more if the book was easier to read and use.

Some of the recipes you'll find include:

Baked French Toast with Maple Bourbon Syrup
Mushroom Blue Cheese Crostini
Italian Baked Chicken
Freezer-To-Oven Chocolate Chip Cookies

Recommend with caveats given.

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book. I'm always looking for new cooking ideas and this fits the bill. I make toast in my toaster oven and would love to use it for more. I wish there were more pictures. Nutritional information is missing which is a big downer for me. The Fitecracker Bites were good and easy to make. The Middle Eastern roasted chicken was also good.

I love to cook, but I don’t like the heat from the oven. So I often use my toaster oven. This book offered a variety of recipes for not only breakfast, lunch, dinners, and desserts, but appetizers, side dishes, and different types of bread, as well.
During this pandemic, I think I exhausted my usual go to recipes and family favorites. So I found myself googling different but tasty/healthy recipes. There are many to choose from in this book and you could always substitute certain items if you are vegan or gluten free, which I do for many recipes.
Highly recommended for anyone who wants to create many different meals beyond the overused toast setting.

This was a really cool cookbook. It had some very inventive ways to use a toaster oven and with recipes I wouldn't have thought of. I can't wait to try out some of these recipes!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.

I expected a lot of stuff on toast and there was, but there was also casseroles, meats and desserts. There is an attempt to size down the recipes but most look to big for my toaster oven.

As a singleton, cookbooks for me are sometimes great and sometimes not so much. This cookbook, I'm very happy to to reveal made the ' great ' list. For me, the recipes are adaptable, so that I won't have to make a lot more than I could eat before becoming tired of or having spoilage. The beginning section contained a very comprehensive informative prelude in which I did find sound interesting and valuable information. Very nice variety of recipes using common ingredients.
