I don't like to give bad reviews, but this was just not up to par for me. I really like the Instagram account run by the authors, so I thought the book would be just as enjoyable. It was not unfortunately. I found myself cringing a lot and I couldn't wait to be finished. I am thankful for the opportunity to read a copy of it but I wouldn't consider buying it or recommending it to a friend.

Funny and fairly engaging, and thought-provoking in a way I didn't expect. I liked the setup/layout of the book. However, nothing stayed with me upon closing the book (aside from remembering that I found it funny!) and I'm not sure I would recommend this to anyone else.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley!

If you follow their instagram, then you will know exactly what this book is about. If you haven't seen their Insta, I do think you still will love this book.

It's funny, easy to relate to, and so worth the read!

I'd definitely recommend this to my friends.

Having been an Instagram follower of this account for a while the book is a good accompaniment to it. Would recommend to others who follow the account.
Thank you for my early copy. NetGalley.

Thank you Net galley for providing me with a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
I have followed the author on Instagram for a long time. I was really positive and looking forward to reading this book and it did not disappoint me at all.

I hadn't heard of the Insta account prior to requesting this book but since then have enjoyed the meme content they post. I wasn't sure at all what to expect from the book as their account is just sarcastic and witty memes yet this is, I guess, supposed to be some kind of advice self help type book. It was well written for what it was and I did find it funny but I also felt it was a bit pointless to be honest. I mean, it's not actually a self-help / advice book as the advice is terrible and it even says not to follow it. But then it's also not a fictional story, nor educational. So I wasn't sure why anyone should read it really. It did feel as though the book is aimed at people in their early 20's so maybe I'm just to old at 37 to get the point of the book

So... I kind of, sort of finished this one over a month ago and just kind of sort of forgot to review it... Oooops...
I'll start with the positives - the book is beautifully illustrated. And that's pretty much it...
Before I started reading My Therapist Says: Advice You Should Probably (Not) Follow, I checked out their Instagram page. There's meme after a meme. After a meme. After a meme... I do love a good meme. But this book... Oh boy... Some things should stay memes.
Obviously this is my subjective opinion of this book and I know a lot of people will love how it's written and the advice it gives. But the advice in this book is just awful. And yes, you should NEVER follow this person's advice. She says so herself! Book is filled with stereotypes and made me roll my eyes. I'm all for ranty and sarcastic writing style but this was not enjoyable.

As someone who gives to therapy this was a fun read. Its told from a singular perspective of a girl and her therapists opinions,I felt like I could relate throughout. Many of the stories and lessons were engaging and funny. The illustrations are a great touch but the rest of the format just wasn't for me. I imagine this eing a cute coffee table book.
Thank you netgalley for a advanced copy of this book

Sadly, I was unable to download this book in time before it was archived and this I was not able to either read or review it. My apologies.

A funny and entertaining quick read - but a bit shallow. Not sure how well received this will be depending on who the reader is... don't think I'd recommend it to anyone in my circle.

I received a copy of this book to review Dr Netgalley. Thank you for the opportunity.
A light hearted, fun read, perfect for those looking for a book to pick up at any page and at any time to read. There is plenty of humor and laughter in this book as well as some more gravity filled moments.
On the whole, a good read.

I admit that I actually like the Instagram account much better and felt I couldn't relate that well to this book..

What a funny read! I have followed the My Therapist Says account for years, and this book is their instagram account brought to life in a highly entertaining way. This book would be a perfect gift for friends, and would make a great coffee table book as well.

I loved how My Therapist says covered a variety of topics from relationships, to friendships, to "adulting," all in a hilarious way that really felt relatable to the audience.

Not really my jam to be honest. This kind of stuff is important for the public to know but I didn't really mesh with this.

Having not been aware of the Instagram page before starting this book I went in blind to what to expect.
I thought it was a bright, colourful book and liked the quotes throughout.
Would say it’s aimed more at late teens/ early 20s than 30s (personal opinion)
A great book.
Thank you Netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

This book started out so strong but turned to a disappointment just as soon. Not the kind of content that should be out there. I found it to have MCP subtleties and a lot of racist and sexist methods. This book restricts itself to straight people it seems, and if you don't fit into their definition, it goes bonkers to show you how wrong you are even though you're perfectly okay.
What started off as funny and quirky and harmless humor soon turned into hostile content. It makes fun of people's habits and things they might not have control over.
What bothered me, specifically, was their take on anxiety. They viewed it as an emotion and gave solutions on how to not feel anxious, but in actuality it isn't so easy to control them.
It also made fun of therapists and given how the world is right now, we need people with that kind of expertise and this is a huge black dot on the canvas.
I really, really, really DON'T recommend this one.

Book was cute but I still prefer the Instagram account, although it is funny. It would be a good Secret Santa gift or stocking stuffer!

Some readers will know that My Therapist Says is not only the title of this book but, in addition, something that can be followed on Instagram. Readers should know that this is a somewhat tongue in cheek title and not straight advice. Once readers know that, they may find it to be an enjoyable read.

The book is divided into a number of sections. A few of these include Am I a CEO yet?; You Can’t Leave, You’re My Only Friend; and Mom! The Meatloaf!.

This title should appeal to those who enjoy My Therapist Says on Instagram. It was not really for me though.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.

Thanks to NetGalley and Rock Point for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Before picking this up, I'd never actually heard of My Therapist Says before, but it seemed like a fun quick read. I enjoyed the quirk of this book, and it's all very tongue in cheek. I wouldn't really recommend this to someone who may actually need help, but it's good for a little laugh. Get it for your lady friends who maybe need to have a laugh at their own expense and loosen up a bit. My Therapist Says is your standard book you'd take in the bathroom with you to read a few passages or when you need something easy to read and relax your brain. It's fun, but can fall on the novelty level very easily.
