Rhyming books are some of my favorites, and the rhymes in this book are cute and easy to follow along with. I like how the illustrations have a 3D effect to them, with shadows and lots of colors. I find it hilarious that he finds a chicken in his kitchen cooking up a storm.

A tickle the bone funny story about a chicken in the kitchen. A read out loud with plenty of laughs when a chicken cooks for a lucky little boy. The illustrations make it real and engaging with each page. With a rhyming narration, it will be a favorite.

A special thank you to BooksGoSocial and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest view.

This out-of-the-box bizarre book will be a hit with kids. One winter morning a boy wakes up to the yummy aroma of breakfast being prepared in the kitchen. When he heads downstairs to check it out he finds a chicken! Yep, a chicken is preparing him a breakfast feast. After gobbling down his food the chicken instructs the boy to get dressed and get ready for school. On his way to his room to get ready he peeks in on his parents and he finds them both still sound asleep. What in the world is going on?

This quirky, rhyming story has wonderful illustrations that are colourful, detailed and lively. I love how the author includes a segment on chicken facts at the end of the book which is both educational and entertaining for the young and the old. (me) I highly recommend this fun book.

Fun book with rhyming text, fantastic illustrations, and a chicken that cooks and cleans your house while your parents sleep. I would like to know where one can get a chicken that does all of these things because I would sign up for that in a heartbeat. I think kids will enjoy reading this book and using their imagination to visualize all the amazing things the chicken is doing.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

Whimsical Book about Breakfast

This is a silly little story told in rhyming verse about a little boy waking up to the smells of breakfast cooking but discovering that a chicken is preparing his breakfast! He goes down and enjoys the meal before the chicken sends him on his way to school. The illustrations are colorful and express well precisely all that the chicken has to do to get breakfast made and the boy off to school. The book even ends with 10 fun chicken facts. I think the children will simply enjoy the whimsical and highly unusual idea that a chicken could prepare breakfast, but seeing all the chicken does in the morning might on some level help a child appreciate what Mom and Dad do to help prepare him or her for school.

A chicken that cooks breakfast for the son while the mom and dad sleep. I wasnt really excited about the story itself. The illustrations are what caught me. I could stare at the illustrations for a long time. I love the vibrancy of the colors and the renderings themselves of the boy and the chicken in the kitchen. I thought the illustrations were better done that the composition of the story itself.

One winter morning a little boy wakes up to some amazing aromas coming from his kitchen. Who is making such delicious smelling items? It's a chicken! The chicken not only makes this little boy his breakfast, but also assists him in getting ready for his day and off to school as his parents sleep soundly.
This was an absolutely adorable book. I read this to my children and they giggled throughout the book. It was an easy to follow book with fairly good illustration that held their attention. My children are 3 and 6. This is definitely a good book to have for little ones. The author did an amazing job. We lool forward to more from this author.

Another book with perfect rhymes and rhythm that set my kids dancing around. If I could get a chicken in my kitchen, I would be one happy mom. My son danced around shouting CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK!

This one is approved by my 2 and 5 year old. My son loved the illustrations, which were colorful and had a lot to look at that went with the story.

Maybe I can get them to help out more in the kitchen if I allow them to shout CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK? Worth a try!

This is the third story by Susan Kinsey, who, like the previous two we read, managed to inspire me to spend few amazing hours with my daughter, reading and discussing. Her writing style requires looking a little deeper than usual to discover a whole range of ideas that will enable your child to explore the world around them and learn something new.
There's a Chicken in My Kitchen offers so much fun for the little ones in the seemingly absurd content. First of all, the title of the storybook can be used as a tongue twister, an activity that can be great fun. Moreover the sole appearance of a chicken to cook a meal , wash the dishes, clean and prepare children for school is obviously an anthropomorphism, which is often used in children's stories to teach concepts or make abstract ideas easier to understand. The responsibilities and importance of the parents are taken over and done by the chicken, for mom and dad to be able to rest. This fact alone allows children to see the true importance and tasks of their parents. It allows them to understand what mommy and daddy do for them. By reading the book, children have the opportunity to improve their knowledge about the breakfast, what is usually prepared for the breakfast, which meals are eaten in the morning, as well as the importance of eating before school. If the storybook is read to children from other countries or continents, as in my case, this offers them an excellent opportunity to make a comparison between the traditional breakfast in our place and in the storybook. If you have time, you can talk about healthy and junk foods.
As in the previous books, in this one, the author adds facts about a certain animal. Here the children will get acquainted with new and interesting facts about the chicken.
The beautiful rhyming verses, as well as the excellent illustrations, are just another additional benefit of the storybook. And the inexhaustible source of ideas is what makes this story perfect for preschool children.

Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for granting me access to this title in exchange for an honest review.

There's a Chicken in My Kitchen! is a cute kindergarten level illustrated storybook about a little boy who wakes early for school one morning to find that a chicken has cooked him breakfast. The illustrations are very detailed and fun to look at, and the story itself is told in rhyming verse.

This is quite cute, and will be enjoyed by pre-K/Kindergarten kids everywhere. It doesn't have enough of a plot to entertain the older storybook age kids.

Overall I like it and I'll recommend it to my parent and teacher friends.
