Kendall was likeable and the setting of Montana made me want to travel.

It’s fun reading about Kendall trying to figure it out, while also trying to figure out similar things in life, like how to adult. Does anyone actually know how to adult? Just a feel good story for everyone.

It starts pretty good, I was enthralled with it, I was searching some "Sophie kinsella" bives and at first it looks you are going to get it but then it is a bit boring for me.

I'm disappointed it did not work for me but maybe it will work for you. The premise of Burnout Generation is there but it was less funny that I expected.

The writing was ok. It was fast so I really believe it could work for someone else.

Adventures of an Urban Homesteader has been on my TBR list for several years at this point, and I don't think I'll ever finish it. Sorry! I'm sure some people will love this, but it was just not for me.

This book wasn't for me. I didn't find the humor appealing, and Kendall felt really immature. It was an easy read, but not one I'm going to recommend.

I thought this book was ok, but nothing about it really gripped me. It took me a long time to get into it and honestly I don't think its one I will remember in a years time

Didn't capture my attention and engagement. I'll hopefully try again in the future. Didn't capture my attention and engagement. I'll hopefully try again in the future.

This was an entertaining quick read for me. It was good to step into a book for an hour or two and just enjoy what I had in front of me. This was a fun little read with a big heart.

Kendall finally gets the nerve to flee San Francisco and her awful boss (nicknamed "The Toad") for a new adventure in Montana. She temporarily moves in with an old friend, makes new friends, begins dating in the hopes of finding "The One," and looks for gainful employment and her own place to stay.

I had a hard time with this book. I liked the messages of taking responsibility and changing a bad situation (her job) and Kendall's realization that she needs to learn to be independent and that even though she wants a serious relationship she does not want to depend on a man. I also liked that Kendall begins realizing that communication in a relationship is important, yet she also has the power and right to slow things down or not be ready for "the next step." So, in subtext, I did like this book. I just couldn't like Kendall. I thought she was irritating and self-centered through the entire book. She had an army of good friends, but all the conversations were about her and how her friends' and dates' decisions affected her life with no consideration for them. Again - yay for her for learning to take care of herself, but I felt she did not deserve the friends she had. For just one example, she was dating two guys - one of them she openly admitted to Ashley that she didn't really like and couldn't see a future with, when Ashley was crushing on him. Kendall just couldn't work up the nerve to end it and yet Ashley is still a good friend and listened to Kendall whine about the guy she liked AND helped her get a job. I suppose that also says something about Ashley, too. At any rate - decent messages in this book, but the characters were, for the most part, not likable.

This wasn`t for me. I didn`t find it much funny and the main character were feeling annoying and she did not act her age. The story were just there... didn`t exactly make me interest and the love interest she had felt flat and very sudden and random.

Adventures of an Urban Homesteader is a new twist on the classic coming of age story. Kendall has decided to leave her job, with a boss referred to as "The Toad", in the urban setting of San Francisco. She's ready to start her own graphic design business in the back of beyond, also known as Montana.

Kendall stays with her college roommate until she finds a place to live and a part-time job. We can all sympathise with her as she struggles with the problems of adulting: malfunctioning plumbing, a series of Mr. Wrongs, the soul killing cold of Montana, etc.

I would highly recommend this title to anyone who loves chick lit.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received a free digital copy of this title to review from Net Galley.

3/5 🌟

This was an enjoyable read for the most part. I really liked reading about Kendell ~ her worries/troubles were very relatable! There was.a humorous touch to the storyline through and through.

I think I'd have enjoyed reading AOAUH a lot more, but the mother kind of took away the joy of this book for me. She constantly kept annoying me, and I had to skim through a lot of paragraphs where she had a conversation. 😭

Recommended if you want a quick, funny read!

This book was not for me. I didn’t like the protagonist, the format or the plot.

Enjoyable book. The author felt similar to a couple of other authors I read.
While I liked the main character and story line the mother really annoyed me and I just wanted to skip over her parts.

This reminded me of Sophie Kinsella books. I love those books so I was expecting to like this, unfortunately although I enjoyed it, I didn't really like it. Our main character was very relatable, like very because we're in similar situations, I couldn't care less about many of the things that happened. Now, what was the worst for me was her family, especially her mother. That woman ruined this book for me, she was childish and immature and so ugh frustrating, so frustrating I almost dnf. I didn't though and I'm glad because the end was probably the best thing about this.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review

Tired of working tirelessly for a boss who doesn't value anyone, family dramas and the hustle and bustle of life in San Francisco, Kendall moves to her best friend's house in Montana, looking for a new life of independence and, who knows, a new love. But would be this process as linear as it seems?

Kendall is one of the most comical characters I have ever met, in fact, she is so clumsy that if we made a list of the most unusual and shameful moments that could happen, she not only would fulfill all the items, she’d actually made things ten times worse. However, one thing that sometimes displeased me was his lack of maturity and over-sensitivity, but the truth is that this is part of the character and helps us to see his great evolution in terms of self-knowledge, self-esteem and personal growth - which was what I liked the most.
With a very fluid narrative, Brooke L. Davis's book is ideal for those moments when we want a light book, with a bit of romance and lots of humor. Without clichés, this book warms our hearts as we read it and leaves us in that lively and cheerful spirit, ideal at this time of the year!

[🇵🇹]

Honestly, I expected a lot more when I first started reading the book. I wouldn't say I didn't like it completely but there were some parts that I was unable to connect with. I loved the start but I wasn't able to connect with the later part. Overall, this book had everything if you have read Sophie Kinsella's books. Romance, Comedy and family drama.

An entertaining tale of a young lady's adventures on her way to becoming "an independent young American woman". What I especially enjoyed about this story - it's amusing situations - completely relatable - with easy bite size entries. Very light and uplifting and it put a smile on my face.. An amusing pleasure to read.

Ah Montana - the mountains, the cows and cowboys that you need for them, and then there is the cold! Lots of cold. Bozeman where our heroine moves to, is noted for being trendy - and snow can fall for 3/4 or more of the year! So coming from San Francisco was surely quite a shock to her. Clearly hadn't invested in the correct undergarments - try Uniqlo in future... they even have self-heating jeans.
I liked the format of the book and the writing style was engaging and fun. Her 'adventures' with cows and cowpats and 'wild' creatures were amusing and I liked her friends and her boyfriends.
This was a lively book to read and enjoy in the less than freezing temperatures of Southern UK where you can giggle at our current 17 degree c in mid November and all the flowers blooming – and no need to put on woollies – wellies yes thought as it has rained a lot!
Oh and do look up the blog from High Country News which gives 10 reasons not to move to Bozeman – funny. The author is debunking all the people who say move to Bozeman for the laid back life etc. A small paradise it is often said.
So number 1 reason is the Name – lame.. and number 2 is the weather… it has been known to snow heavily in June. That said, snow in the UK comes later – or earlier – in the year, depending on how you look at it, in the South rather than the North, and has frequently snowed on our son’s birthday late April – but only a sprinkling.
