This books is quirky and full of whimsy. Jacob is a boy who can fly. And when his parents decide to go on vacation, he doesn't want to ride in the plane to get there, no, he wants to fly himself. And what a fun adventure that turns out to be! I like that it was very light handed in the lesson of sticking up for your friends, but was not a book without a point.

This is a cute story, on how it is ok to be different. We dont all have to be the same. Jacob can fly, and would rather fly himself, then in an airplane. Most of the time.

Jacob's Fantastic Flight by Philip Waechter is fanciful, whimsical, and will capture the imagination of any young at heart dreamer. This is a lovely story about a boy who can fly, and while exerting his independence finds a way to help his fellow creatures in the natural world.

While enroute to his own holiday, Jacob happens upon a flock of birds who collectively befriend the young boy, despite his differences. When a birdcatcher snags the hapless Hubert in his net, it is up to Jacob to set his newfound friend free.

This is a beautifully conveyed story that I would be pleased to recommend to young readers.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Publisher Spotlight, and Blue Dot Kids Press for the opportunity to read this ARC.
