Adorable!
This is the first time I checked out Catana's comics. One of my 2021 reading goals is to read more graphic novels and comics. The cover spoke to my inner romantic. In Love & Pajamas did not disappoint - funny, relatable, and simply precious. Thanks to Netgalley and Andrews McNeely Publishing for this ARC!
And yes, my boyfriend and I read this together in our pajamas! 💜

As always, I freaking love everything Catana has done! The cute little pictures and realistic scenarios!

Cute little vignettes of the love between Catana and her boyfriend, John, "In Love & Pajamas" is one of those comics that don't tell a story, but is a compilation of short stories, told in one page, normally more in images than in text (dialogue). The stories differ, but they are all about different situations a couple (or anyone for that matter) can find themselves in: being lazy at home, not wanting to wear anything but pajamas, staying for too long in bed... (yes, there is a pattern here).

The stories are well done, and will make you smile, comparing the two characters in the stories with yourself and your own relationships. It is easy to relate to many of the situations that appear here. However, there are a couple of issues that stop this, in my opinion, from being something special.

First, they are too sugary for my taste. Catana (the one in the stories) is soo clingy as to become annoying, She wants to get attention, she steals the sheets, she hugs non-stop... It may be sweet for some, but for me it was too much.

Second, the stories are basically of just three types: Catana and John being lazy; Catana asking for attention; Catana and John sending messages of love to one another. Yes, there are a couple of them in a party, or getting drunk, or 'fighting' for the dog, but there is no much variety here. In the end I felt like I was in an endless loop of hugs and 'love you' messages. I think half of the book cut have ended in the editing room and nothing would be lost to the reader.

The art suits perfectly to the little stories. It is simple (and repetitive) and the characters' expressions are few, but it conveys the meaning of the different moods and situations.

It is cute, adorable, and if you like this kind of topic, you might love it. But, for me, it is just not developed enough, repetitive and the humor falls flat in too many of the stories.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a temporary digital advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I've followed Catana's comics on Instagram for a long time so I was excited when I saw this book pop up on NetGalley. It was fun, it was light, it made me laugh out loud several times. Honestly, it sometimes felt like it was written about me! This is a collection of both favorites and new comics that'll put a smile on your face. Very relatable, well drawn, and a nice break from the world.

Catana Comics never disappoints! I started follow Catana on instagram only recently, so most of the comics in this book was completely new to me. This was another hilarious, adorable, and highly relatable collection of comics. I can't say much more about it, it's a light read for anyone who's experienced that comfortable love :)

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Just like with her previous collection, Little Moments of Love, I had a great time with this book! (still haven't read Snug: A Collection of Comics about Dating Your Best Friend, but it's coming!)

It was very relatable, funny and sweet: it depicts a healthy and long-lasting relationship and how it evolved to this state of "love and pajamas" where we can just be ourselves with each other without artifices. It's still super strange to recognize my couple in some situations!

Still loved the illustrations of course! And even while following Catana on Instagram, I still read strips I never saw before!

Of course, I 100% recommend!

Very cute romantic comics by the creator of Catana Comics. Perfect for fans of the original webcomic, romantics or those stuck for a cute Valentines Day gift.

If you follow the author online, you may see some faves among the pages - although the blurb mentions a stack of original comics included. The author opens with a very cute message about how to know you've found the right person- someone to be weird with. And while the punchline is usually the same (she and her husband John are very much in love with each other), it's pretty cute!

I sent my boyfriend a few screenshots of comics that reminded me of him. Sweet and shareable.

Gigantic thanks to Andrews McMeel Publishing and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first time reading Catana's comics and I am so glad I did. Catana's art is so fun and cozy! Her comics are warming, heartfelt and feel good. These comics are inspired by her life and her real-life beau. These comics show the reality of true love and the amusing moments that happen by accident. I loved this and I will be getting a hardcopy for my library so I can read it whenever I want to.

I gave this comic collection 5 stars. I will be reading it again and I recommend to anyone who needs something warm and cozy book in their life!

Thank you to the author, Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This collection of couple moments in comic form was a cute and quick read, but somehow I was expecting a bit more. There is no plot line, but the comics all seem to blend into one another after a bit - nothing really distinguishes one from another.

The cover is simple but beautiful. The colors and the illustration are adorable.

I've seen this artist's work on social media before, and I actually sought out her books. I was SOOO excited to find this on NetGalley truly. I'll be purchasing a copy for myself soon!

I'd definitely read more books by this author.

In Love & Pajamas is the sweetest, funniest set of comics about love and relationships.

I absolutely adored these comics! I ended up being so giggly excited that I couldn't help but continually suggest it to my friends as I was reading it. It's relatable, all about being yourself and just so darn adorable. It's so sweet and friendly and simplistic. I love it! This is the kind of comics I love - easy to read, easy to binge or simply pick up whenever, and really fun.

If you're seeking a safe, friendly and fun book that won't stress you out - grab this book. It's well worth the money. Honestly, it's one of my new favourites and I'm recommending it to anyone seeking something soft, light and fluffy.

Five out of five stars.

Catana Chetwynd continues to create the sweetest, most relatable relationship comics about her and her husband. This is her third collection and it continues to be heartwarming and hilarious.

This review needs to begin with how much I absolutely love and adore Catana’s comics. I’m not entirely sure how long I’ve been following her, but it was certainly before her first book!

I cannot tell you how many times I have sent Cantana’s comics to my boyfriend and said, “look! That’s totally us!!” (Example: John complaining that he was freezing the night before while she says she was warm, and it just so happened that it was because she’d stolen ALL the sheets the night before!)

The comics are relatable and just good fun— like John being taller than her and each frame is her calling him over to do things she can’t reach (I am ALWAYS doing this!); or how you text when you’re first in a relationship (“I can’t wait for wine by the fire tonight!”) to now (“Look at this dog video!!!” Which is why I’m so obsessed with her comics! They are just real and down-to-Earth.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced copy!!

The situations are so cute and relatable. A delightful read. Very relatable for couples *cries in single*.
Only read this if you like fluffy couple jokes. It's sweeter than cotton candy. Maybe you get a cavity!

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!

Oh my goodness I had so much fun reading this. I related to it so much with my husband. Super cute and made me go “yep, that’s us.” A lot.

This was such a cute collection of short comics! Just knowing that this is based on the artist's real relationship makes it all the more wholesome.

I relate so much to Catana's comics. I think that the biggest appeal of her illustrations is that it captures the little moments we all experience and can relate to. In Love & Pajamas made me feel just as warm and fuzzy as her last two books.

In the introduction Catana and John say that this book is about being able to be yourself with your partner and embracing your partner’s quirks, even when they are ridiculous and embarrassing. It is about feeling safe to be vulnerable and real with the person you love. This is a time when folks have been with their partners a lot more than usual, between working from home or underemployment, so in many ways this is a timely book.

For those familiar with Catana Comics, this collection is largely what readers have come to expect (and appreciate). As promised, there are silly moments, relationship quirks, extreme introvert tendencies, and reminders that men’s fashion and women’s fashion are brutally different in ways that are deeply unfair to women. There is more of a focus on being a supportive partner in this book, and both John and Catana’s characters seem to experience more bad days over the course of the book, though no mention is made of COVID-19, which will make this more of a timeless read in years to come.

In Love and Pajamas feels like a much shorter book than Snug or Little Moments of Love, and it’s true that it has a lower page count, but I think the reason it feels shorter is because more of the comics are wordless, so there is very little reading to do. Possibly it feels shorter because many of the comics are very similar to one another, or to previous comics. Which is fine - Catana has found a niche and is occupying it splendidly, but of the three published volumes of her comics, I would not say this is the strongest, or even the second-strongest.

That said! This is a really good book, particularly for gifting, and on no less than a dozen occasions I wanted to wake my partner up to show him a comic, but as loving and supporting as my partner is, waking him up before 7 a.m. to show him a comic would be an unkindness. I’ll just wait until he’s had his coffee.

I've been following Catana's comics on social media for a few years now and simply adore her comics. I loved *In Love & Pajamas*, with all of its quirky, adorable, relatable, and hilarious moments. I laughed out loud several times, including when John asks Catana if she drove his car and when Catana asks John if he slipped on the ice outside. There were some that I didn't even realize the relatability of until I saw them, like the one about looking at housing despite not being in the market to shop for a house. I absolutely loved how this book portrays all the small moments of a relationship. This book was the perfect way to decompress after a stressful day at work!

A thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC.

Catana Chetwynd is my absolute favourite cartoonist by a long shot. I found her drawings on Instagram and my boyfriend and I would constantly send each other the new posts that Catana would put out. I already own her two other books, Snug and Little Moments of Love but this one is just so good. I can relate to her relationship with John, and her cute little dog.

Her cartoons make me smile, and laugh, and remind me that people are just like me! We are happy, we’re sad, we’re empathetic, tired, angry and all of these feelings are valid.

I recommend Catana’s comics to everyone and send them to anyone I can relate to them with.

I will buy all of Catana’s books, and congratulate her on all her success!
