This is one of the best herbal remedy books I've read in a while, and I read a lot of them. I love that this one is written by a woman who is both a naturopathic doctor and mother, and she gives advice from experience on both fronts. There are clear color photos of every herb profiled and lots of information. Chapters give suggestions and recipes for all different ailments from strep throat to PMS. Her information about Covid-19 was one of the most accurate that I've seen in a 2020 book, and it deals with information about ACE-2 inhibitors and other factors of how it replicates that are barely on the radar of most books coming out now or most medical advice. It's full of gorgeous photos but more than that it's full of great advice and a ton of recipes. She also teaches you the basics of how to make remedies including capsules, tinctures, teas, poultices, salves, etc. Note that it does not focus on foraging or growing the herbs, but more on acquiring them and then making the remedies. Most of the herbs are easily sourced though, whether you buy them, forage them or grow them. Highly recommended.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.

Medicinal Herbs for Immune Defense by JJ Pursell is a great resource for identifying herbs to boost your immune system naturally.

There are instructions of how to make your own capsules, essential oil blends, fomentations, liniments, medicinal teas and more.

Each herb described includes a picture, as well the benefits and which parts are used.

The recipes are broken into different topics, such as Allergies, Chest Colds, Coughs, Cuts & Scrapes, Earaches, Fevers, Immune Boost, Laryngitis, Sinus Relief, Sore Throat and so much more.

I found this book to be fascinating and I look forward to trying some of the recipes. If I could relieve my allergies without the need of 3 prescription medications I would be so happy!

This is a great resource and I recommend it to anyone looking for information on natural remedies and immune support.

I'm so grateful to JJ Pursell, Timber Press, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.
