🪁🪁A Fat Girl's Confidence:I'm Fat. So What?🪁🪁

"You cant be pampered into confidence, you work your way into it"
Title and cover page attracted me to this book, which will make anyone ask exactly the title -'so what'. It is basically a seven day workbook to build a fat girl's confidence. Author asserts that 'your physical appearance has nothing to do with your self-worth'. She is not supporting obesity or unhealthy practices just because they dont fall into 'normal' category. Instead, the book boosts confidence in anyone who have ever felt ugly or low in confidence.

It is a simple and effective book for self motivation and gaining confidence to face your life. She puts down the raw realities, thereby not giving you false assumptions and by telling you that its not gonna be easy. But its definitely not impossible.

I really liked the book.

Great message, just not sure if I am ready to receive it. Being a plus-sized woman myself and struggling with self acceptance, I really was hoping this book would help me. While the author writes some wonderful and insightful content, I am just not there yet in my journey. I can see how this book would help enlighten and empower those who are ready to embrace their curves, though.

I am not sure what I expected from this book, I have read some books like it in the past and I am not sure that this offers anything new. I was not very aware of the author before I read the book, however she was inspiring. I would not say that she has suggested anything new, and I feel that the book maybe improved by a little more research into some of the issues rather than just the authors' opinion. I think that it is a good read for people who need to work on their body positivity.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

A fat girls confidence is a self help book to remind you that your body shape is unique to you and that you are normal and as your meant to be.
This book is a great little self- confidence and self esteem building book to help you accept yourself for you and realise beautiful doesn't mean being skinny!
This book has some great activities and affirmations to try. This book is good for people who also feel or think they're fat but actually aren't in the category to really be labeled this.
The only thing that I wasn't so sure of in this book was the mention of wearing slimming underwear or shape/waist training items as this to me goes against the grain of the positivity boosting this book is centred around and the message it gives out.

There was some really good advice in this. I enjoyed the easy to read, friendly tone of the book - as if a friend was talking to you. The affirmations were good and the ending letter was very well thoughtout.

However, there was a lot of advice that went complement against the ethos of living yourself such as waist trainers. It seemed counter intuitive. There was also a lot of product placement and recommendations of companies which felt like ads. This might work in blogs and Instagram but felt odd in a book setting.

There was also a lot of references to God which I wasn't expecting.

Thank you for the arc.

This is the book every large person, especially women, need to read. We need to take ownership of our size and not feel guilty or less-than because of it. I love the empowering message of this book and applaud the author for making this bold statement. Great read, with a friendly and easy to follow style.

I found the title of this book very interesting especially to me as a plus size woman. Overall the book really didn't introduce me to anything "new" that I didn't think or know before. I did like the shopping recommendations the author suggested as plus size fashion can sometimes be hard to find. For people who may need the daily affirmations, suffering from esteem issues due to weight or society pressures I think the author's work will be a benefit for them to read.

This book seems like it's targeted to a specific type of woman so if you don't fit that type you may not get as much out of it as the author intends. Some of the activities seem inconsistent with the overall message. Things like putting on perfume, scented moisturizers and make up and getting your hair done are somewhat understandable, but girdles, shapers and waist trainers are a step too far. If the goal is to love yourself and your body as-is, why do we have to wrestle it into a society-approved shape at the expense of our own comfort? There's a lot d assumptions made about who the reader is and who she wants to be and the book slants towards a particular worldview which may feel alienating. It was a quick read with an uplifting tone and I'm sure anyone could fine something positive to take from it.

A Fat Girl's Confidence: I'm Fat. So What? by Patrice Shavone Brown I s a self-help book designed to help increase your self confidence and body image.

I thought the premise was interesting and some of the tips were helpful. I did find some of the suggestions, such as wearing a waist training and slimming underwear to be contrary to the message of loving yourself as you are.

There is a seven day 'plan' with recommendations for each day, such as going through your shoes and identifying which ones hurt, and making sure all of your undergarments match.

I did like the daily mantras/affirmations.

I'm so grateful to Patrice Shavone Brown, My Story Publishing Company, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.
