After starting this book I had conflicted feelings. I liked it, then I didn't, then I did again.

The beginning felt a little slow which definitely contributed to me being unsure about it. The relationships (especially Mor's with her first love interest) didn't seem that strong and it took me half the book to start feeling some sort of attachment for the characters.

I almost skipped the first couple of chapters that weren't in Mor's P.O.V. because the characters (other than Oliver) weren't as relevant to her story yet. I think we could've benefited from getting to know both of them some more before throwing other characters into the mix.

Other than the initial slowness, something else that bothered me were the time jumps. You blink and suddenly it's been a few weeks/months but the characters sometimes act as if no time at all has passed and yet they also do? Maybe some filler chapters would've been better or telling the reader upfront that there was a time skip instead of inserting it in the middle of the chapter.

The second half is definitely better. WE GET CAGE. He reminds me a bit of John Constantine from DC's Legends of Tomorrow (and his own series).

I loooooveeeee Cage and Mor's weird relationship, it's so cute. That's one place where I don't mind the lack of details. It's the small little things mentioned that really make it work.

Eventually I did warm up to the rest of the characters. Their support for each other is very sweet.

BUT THAT ENDING. WHAT WAS THAT? A very confusing cliffhanger that could've ended at the "paper" scene.

That kind of ties into another smaller issue where I wasn't sure if some scenes were flashbacks or dreams until I read them in full. The ending wasn't written like that (as in Italic script) so I guess it really happened? BUT HOW WHAT HUH??? SO MANY QUESTIONS.

Questions that won't be answered until book two. Sigh. This is so mean. Is there even a release date? Please say yes.

Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this book! I can’t wait for the next book in Mor’s story the writer has a lot of talent I found it very easy to connect with the characters straight away and I was never put off with the changing POV’s like I am with some books. The author actually made me hate the villains which I usually don’t do and I found the world-building and the magic system intricate but easy to understand in the story. The cliffhanger at the end was well executed and if I hadn’t already known I wanted to read the next book then I would’ve after that! I love the representation and the strong female characters in this book and Mor's dialogue was very well written. My only issue with this book was the timeline I feel it could benefit the readers if there had been some indication of time passed between chapters as sometimes one chapter took place straight after the one before and sometimes months or weeks had passed. Also due to this, I feel like we lost out on seeing some relationships develop. Other than that I think this author has done a wonderful job and I highly recommend this book

This is Ahisha McGregory’s debut book and I really enjoyed The Demon’s Pursuit of Mor.

The magic system and world in The Demon’s Pursuit of Mor is very interesting as well as well done. I really enjoyed seeing different people being represented in the book.

I always enjoy reading books that have strong female characters and Morgaine definitely is one. There is other female characters throughout the story and they compliment Mor which was amazing to see.

Overall I did enjoy The Demon’s Pursuit of Mor and I look forward to reading more from Ahisha McGregory.

I LOVED this book. I think it was a great story that I was really able to sink myself into. Personally, I had some minor issues with the writing initially, but there is so many positives to this book that I was able to overlook them.

Cons-
- I think the author used elongated/ dramatised words (e.g. - ‘no-o-o’, ‘ple-e-ease’, ect) a little bit too much throughout the book. For me, I found it a little annoying, and a little unprofessional, but at the same time, it did help capture the image and the personality of certain characters very well.

- I think some of the descriptions of places were a little over done as well. I just found that I was skipping large chunks of text during the descriptions of rooms and features, because I felt they weren’t always needed.

- Cage’s part in this book seemed like it needed a little bit of development. In my opinion, the book had to have a more in depth storyline for him for me to really settle with him as a character. I think his and Mor’s relationship was a little strange. I wanted more filler chapters with them.

- And that kind of leads into my last point here. I think there was big gaps in the timeline that needed to be filled; in particular, towards the end of the book.

Pros-
- Trans/ cross dressing, representation was featured in this book, yet, it didn’t feel as if it was a forced feature to the story. The character, Duchess is well and tastefully written, and his part of the book doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb to make it seem like his part was just there so the author could tick off the diversity box on the checklist.

- Strong female characters. A lot of the female characters in this book were in a prominent position of power, and played a part in helping Mor, not hindering her. Mor was already strong willed and a great witch, but I find it refreshing that her success was made due to her brute strength AND because of the support team she had around her.

- The author made you really loath the villains of the book. For a reader, I think that is a sign of the author’s ability to write a good story. I hated the bad guys just as much as the characters did.

- I don’t read a lot of books on witches, but I found the magic system easy to understand, and I didn’t find that I questioned the possibility of certain spells or sequences of events. It was believable and achievable enough. This is, again, a testament to the author.

- I liked how all the characters were tied together. Initially the reader is left a little scrambled by all the new names and voices, especially since more characters are added to the story as the book progresses, but it didn’t feel as if there was any unnecessary characters.

In conclusion, I think the is a great YA/ New Aged Adult book. The spell casting and witchy elements are fantastic throughout the storyline. The author didn’t fail in making you love some of her prominent characters, and all for different reasons. There are some great one liners that will leave you giggling, and moments that will make you really feel like wanting to fight beside the characters you love.

There is set to be more books in this series. I can’t wait to read further into this series and see how Mor’s story progresses.

I was given the opportunity to read this book thanks to Ahisha McGregory and NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This book kept me interested right up to the end. Then it just ended with no warning. I enjoyed it but I think the book could use some editing. The story seems to jump around without warning and I did notice some typos and punctuation issues. Overall, good plot line but it needs an actual ending. I understand this is the first book in a series but it just ends so abruptly it feel as though the author just stopped writing.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book has a really interesting magic system. It's fairly straightforward and we can easily understand it. Since it's primarily based on astrological signs, we can have fun and relate to the story by figuring out what type of magic we would have. I also found it great that we learned more about it throughout the story.

The main comment I have regarding this book is that there is a lot of telling and very little showing. We’re told things that we have to believe, without ever being shown how/why they’re real. Because of that, while we know the character's motivation, we don’t necessarily feel for them or truly understand them. Since we don’t live it with them, it's a bit harder to connect with them.

Another thing is that the time jumps are a bit jarring, but it doesn’t deter from the enjoyment of the story. However, you do feel like you’re missing out on the story and the relationships that I've been developed during these time-lapses. I would’ve liked it if the story had delved deeper into the characters relationships and their growth. Especially for our main character, I would’ve like to see more of it. Because of that, everyone feels a bit one dimensional.

There was a lot of promise, but it wasn't entirely delivered. The ending left us with more questions than answers, which left me wanting more.

On a more positive note, I really liked how we get to see the story from the POV of the "villain". It's refreshing and, in my opinion, a great stylistic choice. Those chapters were always really interesting.

With that being said, I am still intrigued by the story and the direction it is going. Would definitely be interested in reading book two.

I had never read a book by this author before, but the blurb on this book intrigued me enough that I thought I’d give it a try. Come to find out, this is the author’s debut book. I really enjoyed this book as it’s well-written, has good characters, and the plot twists were fascinating. Now there were a couple things I found a little troublesome. We had periodic jumps in time of a couple/few months, and I don’t like to be told about happening, I like to be shown them. I also found her final love interest a little quick. We didn’t get much of a build-up because of the time jumps. However, besides those, I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

First time I read anything from this author and I will be looking forward to more in the future. Would make an excellent script for an action movie. Easy to read in one sitting. Ends in a cliffhanger so I hope the next one in the series comes out soon.
