My young readers found this book really cute and funny. The illustrations are very nice. We really enjoyed it.

This was a good adaptation of I know an old women. The art was unique with the collage style images that had a shadow placed behind it to create dimension and a 3-D effect on the page. The art was fun and I enjoyed seeing her holding things like a glass of milk after she swallows the cow. I'm not sure what I was expecting but I was waiting for some sort of twist to the original story, which didn't really happen. The only change I noticed was that she doesn't spit them all out at the end like some stories have her do. Overall, this wasn't a bad version, it just felt already done.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review this wonderful book. Super cute retelling of a classic childhood rhyme. The images are colorful and wonderfully detailed in a cute cartoon style.

I love this new spin on an old classic. Instead of "perhaps she'll die" the author uses other rhymes to complete the stanza. I enjoyed the illustrations in this book; they were bright and colorful and would appeal to young readers.

This is a cute updated version of "there was an old lady" and I really liked this one more than the original series of books.

This is a cute rendition of a classic tale. I reviewed a digital copy, so I was unable to enjoy the die cut illustrations. The physical copy will be fun for children.

Cute pictures combine with the familiar song for a fun book. The kind of book a toddler will love to have read again and again.

The original Little Old Lady died at the end, and everyone wondered why? There have been various retellings of this book, but this is one of the few that takes the original story and changes very little. Mostly what is changed is the last stanza. Instead of “I wonder why”, each page has a different end like “i’d rather eat pie”, or “that’s no lie”. Plus at the end the little old lady gets to live. Plus the illustrations are a laugh riot. This is a great replacement when your well loved older copies need replacing.

My kids loved this book! The rhyming was fun and the illustrations were vibrant! I'm interested to see what the print version looks like, as the ebook version had spots missing for later illustrations. I also really appreciated the new, kid-friendly ending. The old one is just a little morbid.

4 stars.

Ohh man this brings back so many posi8heart felt memories. My Nana use to sing this to me as a child and it was so much fun.
The illustrations were quite good and I liked the colours chosen.

This version has been changed slightly. In the original version, the last line on each page was, 'Perhaps she'll die.' But in this version, each page ended with a different line that would rhyme with the previous line. It was a more positive, less gloomy and upsetting phrase than one about death.

I completely understand and appreciate this version as it would upset some sensitive children and some who found the talk of death in a nursery rhyme a bit too sad.

There was no talk of death in this book. Even the very end where originally the old lady died, it was changed to, "She's stuffed, of course"

So if you are looking for a more kid friendly version to this classic song, this is the book to grab.

Edward Miller’s retelling of I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly is a fun read for grown ups and their kids. I expected an exact retelling with just new artwork but was pleasantly surprised to read that text had been updated. This was a hilarious read with my 7 year old, who frankly I thought would be too old for the book. She loved calling out the old words she remembered and was delighted by the changes. While the book would be best for younger kids, even she was happy to read it to review it. (Amazon affiliate link) I Know an Old Lady is a fun read for families.

This is a cute re-telling of a familiar story. I did not really like the white blobs that were there due to the ebook version formatting and wish that they had figured out a way to place the animals in the spot or remove it for the ebook version. However, if it is a hole that shows through a bit more for each page while reading the physical book, than I think that the animals showing through would be fun for the kids to see and experience. I imagine this would be a fun book for kids to compare to other versions of the story, or simply to read to younger children who will enjoy the silly rhyme for the first time.

So many adaptations of this story and it’s time the original was redone . You g readers need to hear the original story before all the adaptations.

This is a colorfully illustrated retelling of the traditional of the "I Know an Old Lady Who" book. It slightly varies the wording and ending. As an elementary school librarian I know this would be checked out of my library. We have over ten different variations currently including ones for various holidays during the year. This would be a welcome addition. I might have rated higher if it had gone in a less traditional direction.

My boys LOVED this book. The writing was super cute and the graphics are BEAUTIFUL. We will certainly be buying a hard copy for our bookshelf at home as well as for their teachers at school. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read this arc in exchange for an honest opinion. 5 stars!

Listen. "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly" was my jam when I was a kid. I had hoped this would be a new spin on that, but it seems to be the exact same story just with different pictures. The ending is a bit different, and I gotta be honest, I like the ending of the one I grew up with better. So I found that to be disappointing. But I'm happy to know that the art is being updated to appeal to kids today

This is a cute, silly, kid-friendly version of the classic rhyme. The illustrations are bright and colourful with lots of detail.

I do wish there was a bit more resolution at the end, I feel it ends a bit abruptly, but I’m sure young kids will enjoy it nonetheless.
