Any age & silly

What a twist! This version of I Know an Old Lady is absolutely wonderful. I remember reading this story as a kid and to see it retold in such an amazing way is awesome. I also want to include the fantastic illustrations.

I highly recommend this book.

This book was the retold story that every kid should know, it is the funniest poem where the old lady swallows all these things one after the other. Each one is swallowed to go after the previous one for an odd reason. But the kids love this story over and over for years I have read this book to my kindergarten students and they love it. This is a book i will purchase for my library at school for the students to check out, I will also purchase a copy for my grandkids at home for me to read to them as I love this story. The illustrations in this book are colorful and perfect for the story. Thank you for the early copy for view.

It is a funny story. This all only makes sense as I saw in a clever youtube video that all these animals are made of chocolate. Must be Halloween Candy. The encore like the chicken licken , sky is falling where a character meets new characters on each page makes for a fun read for kids to recall the order in which things happened. Its fun too when there's some food chain theme involved.

I've always quite loved this story, it's fun to say, it's fun to listen and it's fun to look at the great pictures. Kids love it and as an adult I also love it still. I recommend!

This is a fun book that starts as the old lady swallows a fly. We never find out why she truly swallowed the fly, but she continues through the book to swallow other animals to take care of the one before it. This book has a lot of repetition and rhyming and keeps the reader/listener wondering what is coming next. A nice quick read for all ages.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun one though not a new favorite. The illustrations were simple, but good. The text would be fun to read with kids. Nothing spectacular, but a decent book that should entertain.

To think I would see this old lady again! Back in elementary school, I remember one story time my teacher played an audio recording and read Simm Taback’s "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly" to the class. Now with a retelling of the story, Edward Miller’s "I Know an Old Lady" is definitely kid-friendly and reliving my childhood. The original tale is still memorable for me to this day and I hope this retelling will be the same for other children to enjoy.

With the use of humor and rhythmical lyrics from the classic folk song, the story is about an old lady who eats up and swallows unusual creatures from a fly to a horse. The excellent word choice keeps the reader engaged as the story continues to build up each time (like the old lady’s stomach!) I especially love the detailed illustrations with great use of space. While paying close attention the animals and their reactions to this absurdity, I appreciate the other objects in her house to give an idea of what the old lady does in her leisure time: baking, knitting, drinking tea, taking care of plants, etc. It is a lovely touch to tell a story within a story. The patterns and the colors are pleasing to the eye as well for children to follow the story, anticipating what other creatures the old lady will eat up next.

I did like the positive twist in the ending, unlike the original that ended with her demise, yet my first reaction was that it was pretty abrupt. Nevertheless, this is such a fun and silly read for parents to read to their children before bedtime.

I Know an Old Lady by Edward Miller provides a whimsical retake on the commonly known story. What makes this story standout are the amazing illustrations. Highlighting each thing the old lady swallows in rich detail and providing a preview of what is next is adorable. My almost four year old was mesmerized and adored this version of the well loved story. He laughed out loud at the ridiculous size the old lady had to grow to hold all she swallowed!

I was provided a free advance reader copy in exchange for my honest review from Net Galley. The opinions shared in this review are my own.

An updated reimagining of There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, this book is a cute board book with a kid friendly ending. Very silly and fun for the littles.

This is a funny retelling of the tale of that old lady who ate all sorts of absurd things. Eventually there is a veritable zoo in her stomach. Some children might worry about the fate of all those living creatures stuck in her innards but fortunately it's not based on a true story.

I like the one dimensional illustrations that could inspire some paper cutting crafts.

Another in a sea of "I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly" books, this one is nicely illustrated and cute, but owning numerous copies of this song already, I don't think there is enough different in here to make my feel like I need one more edition.

This was similar to I know an old lady who swallowed a fly but it was nice this didn’t talk about death. This is a favorite of my 4 year old and has cute illustrations.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for my opinions.

This is one funny rhyming book. Students will have fun to read it by remembering all the animal names and repeating the sentences. A fun book for nursery and kinders.

I was granted complimentary access to an eARC of I Know an Old Lady by Edward Miller through the publisher, Happy Fox Books, in exchange for an honest review through NetGalley.

I Know an Old Lady is an updated version of the classic nursery rhyme we all grew up with, "There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly," but instead of ending each verse with "I guess she'll die" it questions and theorizes all sorts of different rhyming thoughts in that last line position.

The illustrations are cute. I love the combination of the flat coloured papercut look with overlayed patterns and textures. The pink and purple scheme is bright and fun, and I think kids will really enjoy spending a lot of time looking through these pages.
