Like other books in this series, it is a fun little introduction to inspiring people. Definitely a great way to introduce kids to biographies and a nice read for adults too. I would recommend all the books in this series.

Megan Rapinoe is one of those people I have never heard of before, but since I loved the books I read before I just had to start this one. And I wasn't disapointed. After reading the book and how Megan Rapinoe is fighting for the LGBTQ+ community I had to find our more about her and her works.
I love these books and how they tell the lifes of those people who shaped and continue to shape the world and the people living in it.

A good addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series! The artwork is fun and engaging, and the story of Megan's life is inspiring! I knew she was great, but I didn't realize all the records she's broken. While I wasn't a sporty kid myself, I'm glad to see sporty girls of today have an awesome athlete to look up to.

“The two sisters loved all kind of sports: basketball, street hockey, and of course… soccer. It was their brother Brian’s favorite game. Chasing the ball like a wild animal, Megan ruled the soccer field.”

Megan Rapinoe was born in California eleven seconds before her twin sister, Rachel, and I’ll bet she never lets her little sister forget that she’s older! The twins I know always tease each other about their different ages.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration with the caption:
The tee-shirts of the Rapinoe kids have the initial of their first names

She loved her sport, but she had a hard time fitting in at school when the girls were all talking about boys.

“Megan felt different from most of the other girls. She preferred sweatpants to skirts, and short hair to ponytails. But she knew there were lots of ways to be a girl. She just wanted to be herself.”

My Goodreads review includes an illustration with the caption:
Megan on her own – note the trophy above the lockers

But she was a popular soccer player, and her parents did all they could to help their girls excel.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration with the caption:

She and Rachel both trained hard and were so talented that their parents made long round trips to training when they began playing in the Women’s Premier Soccer League. They both won scholarships to the University of Portland. While Megan was there, she realised she was gay.

She played soccer around the world, and before she went to the London Olympics, she decided to announce that she was gay to help support other gay athletes.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration with the caption:

The US team won the Olympics and later won the World Cup, prompting New York City to give its first ticker tape parade to women athletes.

This is a good celebration of a talented athlete and a brave young woman who chose to share a very private part of her life to a worldwide audience in order to help other people. As well as being an elite athlete, Megan Rapinoe seems to be a very special person, and I’m delighted to see her featured in this series. I’m also pleased that her sister gets some credit, too.

“Megan was always ready to defend the causes she believed in: from equal pay to equal rights for everyone. Together with Rachael, she ran a camp for kids, based on the values that made her great: working hard and having fun.”

Thanks to NetGalley and Quarto’s Frances Lincoln Children’s Books for the preview copy.

I love the books in this series and always find something new in them. I wasn't sure if I had heard of Megan Rapinoe, but once I started this book, and looked at the photos at the back, I recognized her right away. This book, like the rest in the series, focuses on a young girl who followed her dreams, went against the expectations and succeeded. Megan Rapinoe is a famous soccer player with an interesting story. She's a twin, she's headstrong, has a lot of athletic skills and interest and she wanted to become an amazing athlete. Megan worked hard and became a member of the US Olympic Soccer team. She is also part of the LGBTQ+ community and works hard to promote acceptance and normalcy of its members. She is an inspiration to many with her drive, high expectations of herself and her achievements. Normally, I enjoy the quirky illustrations in these books, but this one fell a bit short for me. First, I had no idea who Megan was until I looked at photographs of her. The illustrations did not come close in my eyes. I do enjoy these books and recommend them to families, schools and classrooms to show how Dreaming Big can have amazing results.

Another wonderful addition to the series! Megan Rapinoe’s story teaches the importance of beating true to yourself. Parents may want to grab this one before the Olympics!

Little people, big dreams is an amazing book series for kids. Megan Rapinoe is a great addition to the collection. She is great on and off the field, and is a role model for all people. She is one of the best to ever play soccer and she is so much fun to watch during games. I admire her even more for her work off the field.

A great series, always good for teaching young minds about influential (and sometimes lesser well-known) influential people. And I often learn something too!

I really liked this little picture book about Megan Rapinoe. I feel like she is the perfect role model for little ones. She is this amazing soccer player but she is also an amazing all-around person. It was interesting to hear more about her story!

Another fab addition to the Little People, BIG DREAMS! bio series for young readers by the talented Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara, a writer and creative director from Barcelona.

I love this newest on soccer star Megan Rapinoe, with such inspiring text, illustrations and photos. You get a real sense of her early gift for the game, as well as the courage it took to come out gay. As Megan accepted herself more, her game and life flowed more easily too. Offers moving insight into one of soccer’s greatest players.

These books are the best!! This is the second in the series of women who rule the world!! This book goes along Megan Rapinoe's life, from being a young girl loving sports, to all of the awards that she won throughout the years. This would be a good classroom library book for children to just get to know new people in the world.

Megan Rapinoe is a new biography for young readers in the Little People, Big Dreams series. I've reviewed a number of these titles and all of them are delightful and exuberant little books which cover the lives of famous cultural, science, arts, and innovation icons while maintaining an age-appropriate level of detail. Due out 2nd Feb 2021 from Quarto on their Frances Lincoln imprint, it's 32 pages and will be available in hardcover, and ebook formats.

Written by Isabel Sánchez Vegara it's well written in clear accessible language. The whimsical and energetic illustrations were well done. The art by Paulina Morgan is full of fun - appealing and colorful, they just bounce off the page. The illustrations are bold and full of bright contrasting colors and simple lines and lots and lots of energy.

Well written and appealing, I am really enjoying all of these little books. This one is a worthy addition. The author has included a timeline at the back of the book with some photos and highlights from Ms. Rapinoe's life, as well as a very short bibliography including books to explore further.

Five stars. This would make a superlative reading circle book, classroom library book, or gift. I like that these books cover arts, sports, science, historical, and entertainment icons. There's something for everyone.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes

I am not very sporty, I don’t play sport, and I watch very little, so I did not know who Megan Rapinoe was. That, to me, is the beauty of the Little People Big Dreams series, you don’t have to know who that person is when you pick up the book, because after reading it you will.

Megan's story is not just a story about sport and soccer, although Megan is a soccer player and she was on the US team that won the Olympic final in 2012. It is also an important story about being yourself and working hard to make your dreams come true.

Do you love non-fiction? Do you love picture books? Do you wanna learn about some truly awesome people in a biographical picture book? This series is perfect for you! It makes learning fun.

Megan Rapinoe is a famous soccer player and has one interesting story to tell! She's a twin, she's headstrong and wants to be herself, and is one incredible athlete. She ws apart of the US Olympic Soccer team and is apart of the LGBTQ+ community. She's one powerful woman who can easily inspire anyone! If you want to empower young soccer players (or even just young girls), then this book is a great way to inspire and motivate.

Little People, Big Dreams is a must read series for those looking to add some non-fiction, biographical, picture books to their shelves.

Three out of five stars.

I appreciate that this series is including modern-day heroes as well as historical ones. This will be a fun book for kids to learn the backstory to someone they may recognize from the news -- especially young soccer fans.

The Little People, Big Dreams biography of Megan Rapinoe, written by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, and illustrated by Paulina Morgan, tells the story of Rapinoe so far, from her childhood growing up in Redding, California, to her lifting of the World Cup trophy.

The book is short and cute, if a little generic. It is a lovely introduction to someone I have long admired, and thankfully does not shy away from Rapinoe's sexuality, handling this topic identically to her soccer playing and activism, and every other element of her life.

A great addition to any soccer kid's bookshelf.

Thank you to NetGalley and Frances Lincoln Children's Books for the ARC!

I'll be completely honest and say as someone based in the UK I knew very little about Megan Rapinoe before reading this book with my daughter. As with many of the books in this series, it's a colourful and beautifully illustrated book charting Megan's life so far both on and off the field. It gently discusses sexuality and gender equality which promoted a chat about these subjects with my young daughter. The great thing about these books is that they can serve as an introduction to the subject for a younger audience and be truly inspiring to slightly older children on the cusp of teenage years.

Simple and brightly colored illustrations and a condensed bio from childhood to the reason for inclusion in this landmark series is what makes each story so valuable to young, old, reading impaired, and ESL alike. Megan grew up in the US, but became a world class (including Olympic) soccer player!
I requested and received a free temporary ebook copy from Quarto Publishing Group/Frances Lincoln Children's Books via NetGalley. THANK YOU.

Another great addition to this fabulous series of mini-biographies that show children that there are many ways in which people make a difference. It is great to see a biography of a female athlete and an activist for equal rights, somebody who achieved a lot of success through her passion and hard work.
