The Happiness Journal by Viet Hung is a good book to pick up for a read anything you need some inspiration, joy or happiness to keep you going. It's a thoughtful, practical and, as mentioned, inspiring book filled with short chapters. It helps you understand what happiness is and encourage the reader to become happier in their life. The stories are simple and easy to understand and also relatable in some way.

I received this arc e-book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

A much needed book that is perfect for picking up for a read anytime you are in read for inspiration, for joy, or that pinch of happiness to keep you going forward!

Thank you to NetGalley for the digital RC of this book (I now have my own copy as well as this is a book you need to dip into every once in a while)

Thoughtful, practical, inspiring book. One that you can dip in and out of multiple times and always find another nugget, or strategy that you can use in everyday life.
Whilst the book is called The Happiness Journal, it works for everyone, not just those who are seeking happiness.
Would recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for giving me the opportunity to review this book

This was a nice book, but I didn’t find it super useful. I think I just didn’t click with the approach the book was written from. Can’t really put my finger on it, but it just wasn’t for me. Maybe other readers will get more out of it.

When I requested this book, I thought it would be something completely different. I thought this is a journal, diary, a workbook of some kind. When I saw this is not the case, I gave it a try anyway.

This book is full of inspirational short chapters that will leave you thinking. It consists of separate blog posts on various topics. Although I agree with everything written here, and all in all, this is an interesting read, I somehow didn't find it so helpful as I was hoping to be.

Thanks to the publisher for the ARC and the opportunity to read this! All opinions are my own.

The Happiness Journal is a must read. It does not "give: you happiness, but rather makes you understand what happiness is. There are also so many interesting little tidbits that help the reader make sense of the state of mind they are in and encourage them to become happier in their life.
Definitely one of those book that should be available in all bookshelves and libraries.

This was blog posts which I enjoyed. It was fun and empowering going to read everyday. There is so much that can happen during the day to demotivate you, to bring you down and just reading reminders and relearning about how awesome you are can really lift you up.

This was great! I’m always skeptical of self help books but I would this one to be guided and engaging.

I liked the fact this was a series of blogs. As someone who struggles to get through books or bodies of work. This helped. The structure as well as the content definitely helped me.

Look, I am not saying it is a bad book per se. But it definitely is not what it is marketed to be, it's not at all what I was expecting it to be and it lacks any structure... The author jumps from one idea to another and fails to keep me interested. I do not doubt their blog is good, but in book form and with this marketing, it did not work for me.

One of the best positivity books I have ever ran across. The stories are simple to both understand and relate to in some way. The author did an excellent job keeping it simple. I pleasure to read.

This book by Viet Hung brings together a series of blog posts he has written over the years and is written in short chapters so you can pick up and enjoy reading a few pages at a time over a cup of tea. A lot of what Viet says makes sense - living in the moment, being in nature, eating well and exercising but I was hoping this book would be more of an action plan with goals for to work towards. For me, there was nothing new or groundbreaking presented but it is a nicely presented book and a good reminder, especially during the pandemic, of the things that really matter.

The Happiness Journal is like reading someone else’s journal, in a way. The author shares her own stories and lessons on happiness and positive thinking. Interesting, with a lot of great insight.

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of this book. There's nothing in and of itself that is specifically wrong. I think I'm just a very deep thinker and all the way through this book he would make some positive comment and I would think, "yeah it's not That's simple" Because it's not that simple. If you're looking for a very basic book with mainstream ideas about how to be happy, this is the book for you. If you are a deep thinker, someone who thinks over the results and the effects of everything, this book will probably annoy you. I appreciate his positive attitude, I've no doubt that he had some pearls of wisdom all throughout this book. I even highlighted a few of the passages because they were without a question ringing true. But it leaves so much basis uncovered about how to put these things into effect. About special circumstances that make his advice harder if not impossibleto understand deeply and put into effect.. To me, it felt very much like he would touch on an idea, and then just leave it. No development of ideas no continuation of advice on how to accomplish those thought processes and I guess put what he was saying into action. Because it's more than just strength of will. As somebody who has spent her life suffering I know that to be true. Happiness eludes Even the most fortunate of us. A lot of it is a state of mind. But, you have to learn how to get through your situations as well in order to accomplish that state of mind. It honestly just felt very junior high to me and almost judgmental. I know that was not the intent but when some dude comes around and tells you that you're not happy because You just haven't decided you wanted it enough It feels like a giant middle finger too everyone reading his books that's had any level of true suffering. I just think that the man who wrote this probably has a lot of basic wisdom but I wonder how much suffering he's experienced, a question based purely on the style of this writing. Not a judgment on his life. I just mean to say it's how it feels. I just would have liked for it to go a bit deeper. But I am not like most people and I think very deeply and I don't get very much out of little cliches and quotes that are not followed up with important pieces of information and images of the journey it took to get there. And I think the author should continue to spread his word, As there is no doubt that there are some very excellent points in there. But he would benefit from expanding on them and so would all of us.

One of the things that I made a resolution for this year was to find some happiness within me. I’ve been lost since having kids, and the stress from 2020 really showed me how much I had strayed from my dreams. Like a beacon of light, this book came across my Kindle and was a great starting point.

The first book I read was The Happiness Journal by Viet Hung. This book is that common sense kick in the pants everyone needs to be reminded of. The reminders are told in small snippets that can be read with “sips of coffee.” The inspirational reminders seemed silly when I was reading them, until I took a step back and realized I was doing some pretty negative thinking throughout 2020, and acting in not such a happy fashion thereby ruining relationships around me. Every now and then, everyone can use a reminder, and that’s what this book is.

Want to try to find some happiness within you but don’t know where to begin? Give this book a try!

Very good self-help text, it just wasn’t as I expected (I expected more journaling type questions) though you could use it to guide your own, and the anecdotes are nice

THE HAPPINESS JOURNAL reminds me of popular books with daily meditations for recovering people. A few minutes pondering a simple story sets the tone for the whole day. The book compiles posts from the author’s blog, and guides us to be more mindful, grateful, and thoughtful about life choices. Uniquely, it includes QR codes throughout. When scanned, they provide guided meditations, writing prompts and other helpful exercises. Inspiring!

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. Normally I wouldn't read a book such as this but with all the craziness going on in the world right now the title and smiley face on the cover caught my eye. I am so glad that I did as this book really gives great insight into figuring out what is important in life and how to live with purpose and be happy. Such a good read and makes you feel good when you finish!
