The Summer Sisters by Sara Richardson is the second book in the contemporary romance Juniper Springs series. Now, unlike a lot of romance series the Juniper Springs series has kept the same characters that were in the first book and continued their stories. While a reader wouldn’t be totally lost picking this up as a standalone there was a lot of character building in the first book that set up the events in this one making it best enjoyed reading them in order.

The first book of the Juniper Springs series, Home for the Holidays, introduced readers to the Buchanan sisters who had all been contacted by their Aunt Sassy with a plea to visit for the holidays. The sisters had fond memories of spending time in Colorado with their aunt at the Juniper Inn that Sassy owned. Those times were cut short for them though when their aunt and mother had a falling out years before so their aunt requesting a visit had them all worried something was wrong. However, after arriving Sassy explained to Dahlia, Magnolia and Rose that she wanted to pass the Inn down to them.

After taking a step back and making some huge decisions in all of their lives Dahlia and Rose decided that they were going to take Sassy up on her offer and move to Colorado. Now the ladies are finishing up repairs on the Juniper Inn and beginning new relationships as they start the next chapter in their lives. Just as Dahlia and Rose are about to throw a birthday party for Sassy though their mother arrives in town still holding onto her old family feud with Sassy.

The first thing I want to mention with this series is a big kudos to whomever was in charge of the title and cover choices! Both fit this series to a perfectly and capture all that you find inside the respective books. Having read both books in this series I loved picking this one up and returning to these ladies who are beginning to feel like family, sometimes a bit dysfunctional but loving and kind all the same. It was nice to showcase not one, not two, and not even really three but four possible blossoming relationships too all in one book. I don’t know if the author plans to head back to Juniper Springs but I’ll certainly be happy to head back if she does with this second book landing at four and a half stars for me.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

I adored Home for the Holidays last year and it was such a delight to be back in Juniper Springs. I didn't feel like there were any loose ends in the first book, but I absolutely would have loved more of the Buchanan sisters. So I was happy to find out Richardson wrote a sequel and jumped to get a copy!

This book mostly focuses on Rose, Dahlia, and Aunt Sassy. There's a sprinkling of Magnolia updates, but her story mostly wrapped up in the first book.

Rose had my favorite character arc throughout the two books, as she found her voice in the first book and truly made Juniper Springs her home in the 2nd. She reinvented herself and found an inner strength along the way.

Dahlia had a lot going on with moving her kids to a new town and exploring a new romance, but she managed to keep her life together pretty well! I sympathized with her struggles and celebrated her wins. She's definitely #momgoals.

I was pleasantly surprised to get so much of Aunt Sassy's story! We learn more of her past, along with the details behind Sassy and Lillian's falling out. Richardson even wrote in closure for Lillian, another surprise! I don't want to give away any spoilers but both women' stories had such heartwarming conclusions.

I love my endings neat and tidy and Richardson wrote one I'm fully satisfied with. Of course I thought that after book 1, so if she wants to give us more I won't complain!

A fun, feel good, family centered small town story, with a heap of heart and a dash of romance. This is the second book in the Juniper Springs series set in the beautiful Colorado Rockies. This book was just as charming as the first and although it can be read as a standalone I am certain after reading this you will want to go back and read the first. I just love the strong sense of family, the bond between the sisters, and the tension between aunt Sassy and the girls mom Lillian. I also love the small town setting, the sense of community and all the fabulous secondary characters. There is also some romance, but it is very understated and takes a bit of a backseat to the rest of the story. An uplifting story that put a smile on my face, can’t wait to see what’s next in this delightful series.

The Summer Sisters was such a great sequel to Home For The Holidays!

It's now a few months after the Buchanan sisters have inherited the Juniper Inn and Rose & Dahlia are adjusting to their new lives in Colorado while Magnolia has just had a baby. Rose & Dahlia are working hard to get the Inn renovated for the opening weekend.

I loved seeing the growth of the sisters and their relationships with each other and a little of a continuation of their romantic relationship too. I liked that we got Aunt Sassy's point of view in this one too! There are some cute moments and I want to go visit Juniper Springs! I'm really hoping for a third book!

If you're looking for a great book about sisters, relationships and small towns check this out!

The Summer Sisters is the second book in the series and I really liked it. Set in a picturesque Colorado town of Juniper Springs and following sisters as they navigate family, changes, and finding love. I liked that this book showed more of Aunt Sassy! Definitely recommend for fans of Hallmark and feel-good movies.

I loved diving back into this family of women and their world. Richardson does a great job describing this idyllic town and the people in it, I found myself wishing I was staying in one of those cottages. The emotional journeys these women go through are powerful and I’ve really enjoyed reading them and connecting with them. There’s a little bit of everything: drama, heartbreak, joy, hope and romance.

From my blog: Always With a Book:

This is the second book in Sara Richardson’s Juniper Springs series and I was so glad to be reunited with the Buchanan sisters. I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Home for the Holidays, though at the time I’m not quite sure I realized there was going to be a sequel.

This second book picks up shortly after the first one ends and finds us back in Colorado with two of the sisters having relocated to Juniper Springs. I love that this time around we hear more from the girls’ Aunt Sassy and really dive into the fractured relationship she has with her own sister, the girls’ mother Lillian. Again, as in the first book, the relationships between sisters is at the heart of this book, among other themes, and this is always one I’m drawn to.

I may not read a ton of romance books, but these books just warm my heart. There is just something about the way Sara Richardson writes that puts a smile on my face and I loved that time time around, we not only have love in the younger generation, but also in the older generation. I also appreciated that there is such a strong sense of family throughout the book. I felt that in the previous book, and it really comes across in this one.

I highly recommend adding this to your reading list. This can be read as a stand-alone, though if you haven’t read Home for the Holidays yet, you’ll definitely want to pick it up after reading this one! And hopefully this isn’t our last time visiting Juniper Springs.

The Summer Sisters is a continuation of the story of the Juniper Inn and the women who love and run it.
In the previous book, Home for the Holidays, Magnolia, Dahlia and Rose find their way back to the Juniper Inn and their Aunt Sassy and most importantly to each other.

In The Summer Sisters, they grow and find their place in their own lives and families. I absolutely loved the strong bond these women have with each other. It is such a strong family centered story. I loved the multigenerational aspect, this generation of sisters and Sassy and Lillian ( their aunt and mother)
Seeing each sister have their own story, be happy and find love was great. 🥰

This is a great read, you will be feeling all sorts of emotions as you read through each chapter.

I would like to thank the publisher Forever Publishing and the author Sara Richardson for my advanced gifted copy in exchange for my honest review.

This story is a continuation of the story told in Home for the Holidays. While I don’t think you have to read that one in order to read this one, I really think you’d be missing out on a lot of the depth of the relationships in this book. I’m going to review and rate this story as I read it; someone who read the first book. Just know, I truly don’t think you’ll get the same level of enjoyment if you are reading this book first.

I was a bit disappointed to not have Magnolia play a bigger role in this book, yet it makes sense. She had a beautiful HEA in the first book and never intended on living in Colorado with her sisters. Rest assured, we do get to see her and her family a bit. This story centers on Dahlia, Rose, and their Aunt Sassy. Each of these wonderful women are finding their way in their new normal, and possibly even finding love.

Once again, this author does a great job with weaving the stories together. I love seeing Rose so independent and determined, and her growing feelings for Colt were a perk of this story. The awkwardness and pining were spot on. I really wanted Colt and Rose to have it out and really air their feelings. When Rose finally got desperate enough to speak her mind, it was hilarious and sweet and just perfect.

Sassy also had a sweet romance going. I love reading about older generations finding love again. There was a lot going on with Sassy and her troubles really helped to drive this story forward. That didn’t make her journey any less interesting to read.

We already had quite a romance brewing between Dally and Ike. But her kids have thrown a monkey wrench into that relationship. Ike is so patient and kind and understanding. Dahlia’s insecurities, along with her determination to be the best mom possible, have really held her back. The most heart-wrenching scenes are between Ike and Dally. They broke my heart more than once.

While I love the storytelling and the relationships, this story also flows very smoothly. I had some issues with the ages of Dally’s children and had to even go back to make sure I was correct in what their ages were. At times I found her son to speak and act and do things much older than his age, and I found her daughter to be a bit immature about certain matters. But hey, every kid is different.

If you read Home for the Holidays, I think you will really appreciate and enjoy this story.

3.5 stars.
This is the second in the Juniper Inn series. Dahlia, Rose and Magnolia Buchanan spent their summers at their Aunt’s Juniper Inn. Those trips ended when their mother and Aunt had a falling out. In the first book, their aunt sent them a letter asking them to spend a last summer at the Inn.. The sisters decided in the last book to take over and renovate the Inn. Rose has been working on the renovations and Dahlia has moved her children to help with the Inn. The relationships that they started in the first book are further developed in this book, both with each other and with Colt and Ike. In addition, we explore the relationship between their aunt and mother, Lillian. All of the characters are likable and it is nice catching up with all of the characters. This was a nice follow up the to the first book, but I felt having four romances in the book was too much. I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley for my review.

I'm so excited that Sara Richardson wrote another book about the Buchanan sisters and their Aunt Sassy! I enjoyed every minute of this heartwarming story and was happily surprised that The Summer Sisters included four love stories.

Y'all the Sisters are back and so is Sassy!!! I forgot how much I like this group of women in Home for the Holidays until I started reading this book. I like I am catch up with friends with this group. Sassy is still a pistol and this book she was as stubborn as they come, yet set out to help those she loves the most in life. Rose seems to still be find her place at the inn but she is starting to feel like she's fitting in and is ready to even get her hands dirty and help she's someone I think in a way we all want to be. Dahlia is a little more reserved in this book and I can understand why she's trying to find herself after the death of her marriage. Overall I can't with this group of women they really make me wish I had sisters, such a fun read and I could not put it down so well worth it.

This is the Second book in this series and I enjoyed it just as much as the first. I loved going back to the Juniper Inn & seeing what was next for Dahlia, Magnolia, Rose and their aunt Sassy as they move on with renovating, new opportunities and new and renewed love. The characters are so likable and Aunt Sassy lives up to her name even at 70 years old! The bond the sisters have is just as strong, and they even work on restoring their relationship between their mother and their Aunt Sassy that had been estranged for many years after a misunderstanding and miscommunication.
If you’re in the mood for a family centered story with lots of strong women as the focus, this is the book for you, even if you haven’t read the first book (but I do recommend it because it’s just fab!)
Thanks to Forever Publishing and Netgalley for this Arc in exchange for my review.

What started at Christmas with Home for the Holidays is continued with The Summer Sisters. Sara Richardson gives us a family drama with a sister feud that has lasted decades too long. In many ways this would make a great Hallmark movie. There is the small town drama, the engaging personalities, the everyday problems of life, along with reconciliation and love.

Told in several perspectives, the story stays interesting, not lagging or becoming hurried either. The five women find the confidence, the support, and the love that they need right there at the Juniper Inn in Juniper Springs, Colorado. Lovely story about a lovely place filled with lovely unique characters.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

These characters quickly found a place in my heart in the first Juniper Springs book, but I enjoyed this story more. After reuniting with each other and their Aunt Sassy and strengthening their bond, Aunt Sassy has decided to retire from her responsibilities at the inn, so the Richardson sisters are planning a show-stopping party for Aunt Sassy to coincide with the inn's reopening.

This women's fiction is strong on family and relationships, light on romance, and full of heart. With themes of forgiveness, unconditional love and second chances, this sweet, wholesome story is sure to please.

When I finished reading Home for the Holidays last year ~ I ended up crying because the last chapter gave me all the feels. I felt so sad because I thought that was my last visit to Juniper Springs. The book gods blessed me, and we got a SEQUEL. How did I get so LUCKY. Many thanks to the loving people from Forever Pub for granting me early access to read The Summer Sisters! 🥺❤️ 5/5 stars. DUH.

First of all, I'd like to thank Sara Richardson for giving the Buchanan sisters' respective storylines the GROWTH they deserved. I mean, I can't even begin to say how happy I am after reading about Magnolia, Rose and Dahlia again! The author definitely knows how to weave family relationships in the perfect manner, and her continuation of the Juniper Springs chronicles didn't disappoint.

The family issues were pretty intense compared to the first book, but boy oh boy. The drama and suspense made The Summer Sisters such an enjoyable read! 💞 The book had the right amount of Summer vibes ~ going back to Juniper Springs was SUCH A TREAT.

So, are we getting a third book? I miss the Buchanan Sisters already 😭

This is the 2nd book of a series. The first book was enjoyable and so was this one.
The Buchanan sisters share everything—including their inherited Juniper Inn. But when their mother won’t let go of a decades-long feud with their Aunt Sassy to attend the inn’s grand re-opening, the sisters decide a family reunion is long overdue.
Youngest sister Rose is determined to put together an extravagant celebration. Only she needs to convince a certain surly hardware store owner to help finish the inn’s renovations.
After a heartbreaking end to her marriage, Dahlia and her kids are just starting to rebuild their lives. Dahlia’s even considering opening herself up to love again, but will that upset the stability she’s worked so hard to give her children?
Their sister Mags is married and with a newborn so she has her own life.
Their Aunt Sassy is turning 70 and still wants to reconcile with the sister who shunned her 20 years ago. As she comes back to town, from vacation, she is asked to be town Mayor. She is dealing with something of her own.
Rose has feelings for Colt but he is selling his hardware store and moving.
Dahlia wants to be with Dr. Ike but her daughter wants her to be there only for her and her brother. The divorce effected them mentally.
There is so much love and family dynamics to keep me wanting more of this series.
Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the ARC.

I am so enjoying this series. I hope we have book 3 and many more after that. The characters are wonderful and play off each well. A couple folks surprised me, which is always fun. Sassy definitely lives up to her name. Juniper Springs is such an awesome small town and who wouldn’t want to stay at the Juniper Inn? I loved the story and the characters. I hope I get to hang out with them again. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

Sara Richardson is one of my favorite romance authors and she has written some wonderful women's fiction novels! The Summer Sisters is a charming and heartwarming story about family bonds, forgiveness, love, and a little romance.

I liked that we get Sassy's POV and more about her relationship with her sister Lillian. It played a big part in the first book but wasn't explored until this one. The bond between Rose, Dahlia, and Magnolia was one of my favorite things about the book. Even with Magnolia back home with her husband and new baby, it was easy to see how much they all cared about each other.

Juniper Springs is a cute small town and I hope there are more books to come. I would love to meet more of its residents.

The Summer Sisters by Sara Richardson (Juniper Springs #2)

I loved Home for the Holidays, so I had to get my hands on The Summer Sisters. It’s told through multiple POV’s between Rose, Delila and Sassy. I loved being back in Juniper Springs, the town is community orientated, and sounds so picturesque. The characters are great, they are all so different, but their dynamic is unmatched. The romances are adorable, what I love the most about this series is, the romances are there however, it’s focused more on the sister’s reinventing themselves, and their development. The Summer Sisters is a heartwarming, summer read; get your copy today!
