After reading Home for the Holidays last year I knew I needed to catch up with the Juniper Springs ladies asap!

The Summer Sisters brings you Rose, Dhalia and Aunt Sassy. All three women at different places in their lives but learning to be strong, lean on family when you need it and reinvent themselves in a new season of life.

The Inn and darling town this story takes place in makes you want to settle down somewhere quiet and slow where everyone knows everyone's name. I enjoyed the way adult sisters relationships can change but also how important it is to have each other's backs.

I recommend starting with Home for the Holidays although this could be read as a stand-alone story! If you want a summer read that tugs at your heartstrings - this is it! I cried like three times.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a follow-up to “Home for the Holidays.” While familiarization with the character development from the first book is helpful, I feel the story holds up well as a stand-alone novel.

The setting is Juniper Springs, Colorado, a small town nestled in the Rocky Mountains. In the previous book, Aunt Sassy had bequeathed the family’s beloved resort, the Juniper Inn, to her three nieces, Dahlia, Magnolia and Rose, in addition to Colt, her “stepson.” The focus of this newest storyline is restoration…restoration of the Inn, which had fallen into serious disrepair, restoration of the relationship between Sassy and her estranged sister, Lilian, restoration of the family unit, and restoration of the opportunity for love at any age.

The story is told in alternating chapters from the perspectives of Sassy, Rose and Dahlia. At times the pacing lagged and the amount of withheld communication between potential romantic partners tended to leave me feeling a bit impatient. There is little doubt what the outcomes will be and thus, this story is simultaneously hopeful and clichéd. All the challenges were resolved in a positive, perhaps, idealistic, manner by the conclusion of the book, which left me feeling this was a pleasant, if bland, read.

My thanks to the author, Hachette Book Group, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing a digital ARC in exchange for an independent, honest review.

This review is being posted immediately to my GoodReads account and will be posted on Amazon upon publication.

I absolutely adored this book. One of the things I loved most about it, is how the bonds between sisters and family play such an important role in the story. Rose, Mags, Dahlia, and Sassy are such fun vibrant women, and I so loved getting to see what happened in their lives after the first book in this series ended. This was just the feel good story I needed right now, and I hope there are more books in this series coming up! I received an ARC from netgalley, and this is my honest review.

This was an ok novel. But I didn't love it.

I wasn’t familiar with these characters, because naturally I discovered they were introduced in a previous book after I started this one!! However, it did not keep me from enjoying. Sister books are always so heartwarming.

I found these characters hard to identify with. Generally I enjoy these light, sweet novels but this one disappointed me. It’s too predictable and characters too stereotypical.

Thank you Netgalley for this opportunity.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. The Juniper inn was owned by the Buchanan sisters. They are excited about the reopening of the inn. Their mother might not be their because she is mad at her sister. I enjoyed the different characters.

I consider THE SUMMER SISTERS book number two about the Buchanan sisters. The three sisters Dahlia, Magnolia and Rose found out in HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS that their lives were definitely in need of some serious adjustments and changes. Being back at their Aunt Sassy’s inn was a look into their young lives. Visits with Aunt Sassy would always hold a special spot in their hearts and memories and now it looked like it was all about finding home.
In THE SUMMER SISTERS the sisters are establishing a place in this small town. Each sister discovering talent and determination and courage. It takes courage to make bold changes and it is time that these wonderful women find their niche in life.
Dahlia and her children are settling in to a new routine. Their lives revolve around each other and the Buchanan sisters. But it is becoming apparent to Dahlia that there just might be place for someone new in their lives. Her ex-husband has already moved on and yet Dahlia feels guilty causing any new issues.
Rose has discovered that there is a world out there that doesn’t judge you by your appearance. She has developed a new sense of freedom. Her friendship with Aunt Sassy’s step son Colt has smoothed over many rough edges and now it is very possible that Rose is beginning to see him in a new light. Just as Rose has found her home it appears as if Colt is determined to reach out and find his even if it means leaving the town, his business, Aunt Sassy and Rose behind.
Aunt Sassy just returning from an extensive trip seeing all the sights missed staying in her little town realizes that she truly missed her home. It seems that there are a bunch of new experiences for Sassy right there in her little town. Lots of experiences and new people to explore right there in her backyard.
I loved revisiting these wonderful characters in THE SUMMER SISTERS. Realized that Sara Richardson had lots more to say about these amazing folk. Once again we are fully engaged in the lives of characters created in the imaginative mind of Sara Richardson. She must have realized her fans missed seeing the next chapter in their lives. And so THE SUMMER SISTERS was written.

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS was about mending fences. THE SUMMER SISTERS is about creating new experiences and discovering new life choices. It was time for a change and in THE SUMMER SISTERS we get to see them follow new paths to happiness and fulfillment. Equally as entertaining as book one about these Buchanan sisters THE SUMMER SISTERS is a great read all on its own. There is always room for improvement and love. Sara Richardson shows us how to accept and move on. The future is bright and so is THE SUMMER SISTERS.

I received an advance copy of, The Summer Sisters, by Sara Richardson. There is no greater joy in life then to have a sister. This book is about sisters, secrets, squabbles, and life. I really liked this book.

The Summer Sisters is about 3 sisters, Rose, Magnolia and Dahlia that grew up in Savanah. When they were young, summers were spent at their Aunts retreat in the mountains of Colorado until her mother had a falling out with their aunt. Their aunt is now giving the mountain retreat to the sisters snd a young man that she has raised. Rose had been working hard on coordinating renovations and repairs on the cabins while Dahlia is busy moving to Colorado with her 2 children. Magnolia is at home with her husband recovering from the birth of their baby. Rose and Magnolia plan to run the retreat center. They are working hard to have things up and running for their aunts 70th birthday. A large family that have vacationed there for years are coming to stay at the center for the weekend of the birthday celebration. In addition, the sisters plan to reunite their mother with their aunt on that day. This book is all about fresh starts, relationships, family and old friends. It is a delightful book with a lot of drama.
