Just not for me at all, I found the writing to be so bad, I don’t generally like saying this and try to be constructive where I can, but it was so poor there wasn’t anything appealing. It covers sex trafficking, sexual abuse, Stockholm syndrome , the author says she wants to educate, but I didn’t read anything educational at all. If I could give it a minus I would.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

If I could get away with rating this with 0 stars, I would. This was horrendous. Yes, I have read many stories similar to this one and have liked them. The writer of this story however needs to stick to another genre because this was poorly written. I stopped reading at 75%. I couldn't go on. The characters are horrible. Even the main victim, she falls for her captor in a Stockholm Syndrome way and we're supposed to understand it's okay. The author has to give explanation for everything she writes at the end of each chapter. Huge no for me.

Save your money. The author has a compelling idea to write a sex-positive educational erotic novel. Unfortunately, the plot set-up and writing do not do it justice.

Read my full review on Goodreads. CW: sexual assault.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I'll start with the good: the cover art is really lovely, and the concept (sex ed by way of a light erotica novel) is quite clever. The concept was clever enough that I figured I'd try it even though it isn't my usual cup of tea. I'm all about new and positive ways to support sex ed.

Unfortunately, all the good ends here.

This was one of the most poorly written stories I've read...ever. I don't know that I've ever in my life been so excited to continue reading a book based entirely on how humorous I find it when it isn't actually supposed to be humorous. The plot is horrible and ridiculous, the characters are poorly developed and ridiculous, the resolution is absurd and ridiculous, and the dialogue might be the best (worst?), most ridiculous part of all. I laughed out loud multiple times throughout this story (none of which was in any way, shape, or form "sexy," mind you).

I do not recommend this book, and I will not continue reading this series. But also...LOLOLOLOL.

The author explains at the beginning of the book that she thinks men learn about sex from pornmovies and women from romance novels and that she was annoyed by the wrong things described in those. So she endeavoured to write an erotic romance novel that is without wrong signals or information and explains things in notes. I wondered if that was just an excuse or the real reason.Nevertheless she has a nice way of writing and I even read the sequel (what is a lot better)

This book is not an easy read, it covers subjects that could be triggering to some (TW: sex trafficking, rape, abduction) however the author notes make for an informative and important read. Whilst I didn’t really connect with the characters (some of the dialogue was too stiff) it was eye opening and important.

Definitely a tough read but a good one.

This book has a dark theme and subject matters that could be triggers. Including rape and kidnapping. This is also not the complete story and does not end with a HEA. Cathy had reluctantly attended a sorority party at her college when the horrible events took place. The group of young ladies were raped and kidnapped and were being held captive until they were ready to be sold. Cathy, while having been assaulted as well, became a 'lucky' one in the fact that Alec, one of the bad guys, took a liking to her and kept her with him instead of in the open with the other girls. Unbeknown to her, he was actually a CIA agent working undercover. And he has big plans to not only rescue Cathy, but also all the girls and bring this sex trafficking ring to a close. But he has to work carefully not to blow his cover. The premise of the book was good. But I had a hard) time really getting into it. It was hard to really attached to the characters. The writing felt too clinical. While the characters may have voiced their feelings, you didn't really feel their emotions. While I appreciate what the author was doing with how she wrote this (wanting to educate,) much of what she included within the characters dialog, made it feel unreal (not a likely scenario.). I also had a hard time with Alec's character. He was the supposed good guy here, but he still tried to touch and have sexual contact with Cathy even knowing she was suffering from the traumatic experience. I can understand her warming to him in her situation (Stockholm Syndrome) but he was a CIA agent and should have been able to control his actions a little more if he really cared about her. Due to those things, I had a hard time getting through this book. Due to the subject matter, this is intended for mature readers.

*I received an ARC copy of this book from Netgalley.

Thank you @netgally and author/publisher!

Wow! I think that I’ve learned so much from this book. I enjoyed those little notes/facts that were included at the end of each chapter.

I also that it was amazing that this book had a trigger warning in the beginning! Thank you for that.

Amazing book can’t wait to dive in to book two.

1st Reading: 3rd March 2021 (ARC by Netgalley)
Rating: 4.5 out of 5

This is my very first book about erotica / BDSM. I like the characters (LIKE REALLY) and I want them to be ended up together but ofc the author just likes to torture the readers. I like the author notes that gives me a lot of information (not a perv one but they are really helping me to understand more in this adult world)

I definitely going to read the 2nd book but what I want is just Alec and Cathy's endgame.

Thanks author for the information, I've learned a lot to somehow protect myself. Also thank you for Netgalley that I can read this book.

GONNA RIOT IF THEY DIDN'T END UP TOGETHER REALLY IM GONNA RIOT
p.s. the 3rd book place is in Bali, Indonesia

It was a good book obviously for the topics it is difficult to write a review without being obnoxious so I really loved how the author does an introduction about the triggers in the book so you know what you are going for.
Overall the story was an emotional ride!

This certainly has dark aspects, and yet stunning and emotional. If your someone who is slightly sensitive i would recommend reading a chapter a day, The author in the first chapter is honest and sets the scene but also prewarns the reader of what themes are in the book, so you are not reading blind.
I like how the author gives explanations at end of the chapters without being condisending, disrespectful or even trying to force knowledge onto you. Some of the infomation i wished i knew before being sexually active. But i also liked the explanations for BDSM and rope play which again was written and explained well.
I was surprised how fast i finished the book but it just grips you.
Im looking forward to reading more from this author but also the 2nd book.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The cover of this book is great.
The storyline was interesting, but a trope done fairly often in the romance / forbidden world of writing.
There wasn't much mention of her being groomed, which should be touched upon in any book of this nature... but overall the book was good. There were definitely some steamy / kinky scenes.

Trigger Warning for abuse, rape etc.

This book is about a girl named Cathy who ends up going to a party with her friend. She is kidnapped and gets placed somewhere she has no idea where she is. I have had trouble with this book the longer the book went on. I thought the beginning was really good. It had me hooked and I wanted to read more, until the setting was in my opinion "play house" I did not understand this at all and I think that's what turned me off from the story. I couldn't finish it. I just wasn't sure how being kidnapped and then her cooking dinner, cleaning etc has anything to do with each other.

Cathryn as just started college life when she goes to a sorority party with a friend and they are taken by the Brotherhood, a criminal group that are involved in human trafficking. She is taken under the wing of Alec, who fell for her when he first saw her. He does his best to keep her safe but what will happen when it is time for her to be sold? Intense read with loads of emotion, suspense, drama and steam. Great characters and great world building, the story really draws you in. I loved it.

I really liked the intent of this book, the explanation of kinky stuff and mental health but I felt like Alec was grooming her and that was supposed to be explained as well. Maybe I remember wrong and it was explained, let me know! The pacing should be quicker in my opinion
