Wow, i loved loved loved the sampler i got and now i've got itchy hands for the whole book. Love how with the sampler i'm already rooting for a couple of the characters. I'm eager to get more into the world as the worldbuilding so far is superb. The writing and descriptions are beautiful. This is one I can't wait to dig my head into the whole book. Best of all, I loveeee Multi-POV books so much. Just beautiful.

A Hunger Games meets Shadowhunters sampler. I couldn't put it down as I was introduced to all the champions and was upset that it was over so quick. I can't wait for the full story of how they meet, fight and prevail. The Blood Moon tournament is about to begin, which champion will come out alive?

I adore this! It's absolutely terrible that this book doesn't come out until November because I desperately need to read the rest right now. It hooked me from the first chapter. I can't wait!

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan-Tom Doherty Associates / Tor Teen for providing me with this sampler in exchange for an honest review.

I can't wait to read the rest of this book! I am enamored with Hendry and his relationship with his brother, Alistair. I love the descriptions and the world-building. I will definitely be buying this book when it comes out.

Based on the sampler, here are my first impressions of the book:

As a fan of Game of Thrones, Hunger Games, and Harry Potter, I love the premise of the book. It was really easy to imagine the world Foody and Herman created. I also like how the book is told from the perspective of various narrators. Since the premise is based around seven families, each chapter explores the inner workings of the specific family and the mentality of the champions going into the tournament.

What sets All of Us Villains apart from most YA books is that it isn't an unassuming kid who threatens the power of balance. Rather, it is a newly published tell-all book that exposes the secrets of each of the families.

I am hooked and can't wait to read the full version.

All of Us Villains is an exciting title to a thrilling dark YA fantasy book. Hunger Games with magic? I was totally interested in this idea, and the book didn’t disappoint me at all-one of the best books for this year. It was a quick, enjoyable read; I was on the edge of my seat many times, and I kept thinking about the story long after reading the book. Even with the long setup (which was suitable for understanding the world-building), the plot was engaging, and I don’t think it was boring at all. It gave me a solid base to know everything before the actual action happened.

The characters were exciting and layered and I could relate to them; the romance between them was fabulous! The story was beautifully written, and the description was vivid.

Overall, the book was highly entertaining, and it ended with a cliffhanger; I’m so eager to find out what will happens next. I highly recommend this book to everyone who likes dark fantasy books.

This Book Has To Have A Spell On It. Enchanting

I just finished the sampler of All of us are Villains and I cannot wait for the final release this fall! It was crazy good!!
“Seven rotten families in an insignificant city, fighting over the most powerful magic left in the world. Why do any of you deserve it?”

Ilvernath is a town that was off the map until A Tradition of Tragedy was published and now the seven champions that are chosen from the seven magical families lives are exposed. The tournament which will give the winning family all the High magic they need is dark and high stakes. Only one emerges victorious having had to cast spells to kill the others.

Each family has something to prove or to gain. The book is told from the different POV of the tournament. They are all in different class settings but each characters story pulls you in immediately and it was fun going back and forth learning more about them and how they feel about the tournament. I kept thinking about this book when I had to put it down! It’s dark but enchantingly written! I cannot wait to have the physical copy on my shelf!

In Ilvernath, there are seven major families, all more rotten and despicable from one another, fighting to gain power over the city’s high magick. Every twenty years or so, during the Blood Moon, each of the seven families sends a champion to compete in a tournament to the death. The victor’s family wins exclusive access to Ilvernath’s high magick supply, until the next tournament.

I would have like to know a little more about world-building. It seems to be a Fantasy setting, yet there are photographs and use of technology. There is mention of a government, but we don’t know much about the way the country/land is governed. It does not impact the story so far, but they’re little pieces of extra information that would have been interesting to know.

Alistair Lowe
Isobel Macaslan
Elionor Payne
Carbry Darrow
Finley Blair
Innes Thorburn
Gavin Grieves

Each chapter is told from a different point of view, allowing us to get inside the champions’ (or aspiring champions) head, and understand a little better the dynamics between the seven families, and their goals too. The chapters in the first part of the book follow Alistair, Isobel, Gavin, and Briony Thorburn, Innes’s older sister.

They seem to be very different from one another; Alistair is wicked and vicious, yet he would do anything for his brother and wants his family to be proud of him and to love him. Isobel is her family’s champion because she is the strongest, but she never wanted to be part of the tournament and is stuck between her loyalty to her family, and her desire to flee. Gavin comes from the weakest family, the one everyone makes fun of, the one that never ever won a tournament, and he is determined to prove to everyone that the Grieves family is worth something. Finally, there is Briony, she was sure to be chosen as a champion, and couldn’t wait to prove everyone her worth and to be remembered as a strong champion, but had to watch her younger sister become her family’s champion instead, which makes her a proud and bitter character.

There is definitely a Hunger Games vibe to this book with the whole “champions having to kill each other in a tournament”, but the process is a little more complex. Instead of being picked at random, the champion is chosen by their family, and you can see that while some of them want and need this opportunity, having been raised with this single goal in mind, others are just forced into the role by their family and would like nothing more than to have an escape that wouldn’t mean abandoning their family and being an outcast. I find it interesting also that some characters had a history together, before the whole tournament was revealed to the public, and before they were kind of forced to cut ties with kids from the other families. Some were best friends or involved romantically, which will no doubt add a layer of complexity to the plot when will come the time to kill or be killed.

I am very excited to read the rest of the book, I am giving this sampler 4 stars for now, but of course, that rating might change once I read the whole book. From what I read in the first chapters though, it is promising and intriguing. I am pretty sure that there will be action, fighting, and killing in the rest of the book. Also some alliances and betrayals maybe? The characters are also intriguing enough for me to want to know what happens to them next, and who will survive the tournament.

And the end of that sampler! Oh my… I can’t wait to know what happens next!

I was finally sent a full arc of All of Us Villains so I waited to post this review. As much as I love Amanda Foody and am excited about new work from her, this book was a little rough for me to get into. I wasn't sure what to expect going into it as it's completely different from her previous stuff. And it is cowritten with Christine Lynn Herman who's work I'm not familiar with. All of Us Villains has a dark Gothic Fantasy vibe. I think many will love this story. I wish I had loved it more. I'm not sure if I'll continue the series yet.

Thank you for offering this excerpt to give eager readers and reviewers a glimpse of what's to come.

The idea of a dark magic 'The Hunger Games' intrigued me, so I downloaded the sampler of 'All of Us Villains' when I saw it. However, the erratic formatting of the Kindle sample almost had me put it down after the first pages. Words were oddly cut off or numbers were randomly inserted, and I struggled to follow the first characters' plot.

I pushed through though, and I quickly realized part of my problem is that I don't like Alistair very much (honestly, I don't think we're supposed to like him in the first chapters), and I didn't care about his night out with his brother. As more of the competitors were introduced I became intrigued, and I was disappointed to hit the end of the sample.

I want to know how everything plays out, and if the government will successfully manipulate this year's competition. How will the less prestigious competitors fare after the Blood Veil falls? Who will be the last youngster standing in the town sanctioned magic battle to the death?

The sample successfully peaked my interest, and I will be watching for it closer to the publication date.

I’m very excited to officially read this! The sample was very confusing at the beginning to me because I couldn’t quite figure out who was who. But it smoothed out fairly quickly. I love a dark, bloody version of Hunger games.

Ok… I’m so mad this isn’t out yet! It definitely has the Hunger Games vibe. But this time we have spells and Natick. I love that you get a read on each champion. This was really interesting and captures your attention right away! I want to learn more about each champion and what’s going on. And the cliffhanger?? Ugh I can’t wait for it to come out so u can read the whole story!

OMG! This book. This book is a triumph. I couldn’t put it down but I wanted to savor it slowly. This is definitely one of the best books I’ve read so far this year. I am a huge fan of villains and villainous deeds and this book is despicable in a good way! I’m officially obsessed and need to read the rest!
