Review to come July 1st on blog/goodreads/etc..

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

So, I haven't used TikTok or watched it, I don't want to. Twitter is enough social media for me + I am a very private person and making videos is out. But I just couldn't resist a cookbook with such yummy things on the cover. I just had to check out what more yummy things would be in this book. Mm! Yum!

Before the recipes start we get some information on TikTok and on how to make cooking/recipe videos. I have to be honest, I mostly skimmed this. I have no intention of making videos. Thankfully, starting from chapter two we get recipes! I love that we begin with drinks, I hadn't expected that one, generally the cookbooks I read drinks come just before or after desserts. The drink section had some very fun and yummy sounding recipes and I would love to try out a few when I get the chance. Next up is breakfast and my stomach was rumbling. She liked the drinks and was eager to go for something more sturdy and big. There are tons of yummy breakfast foods, though I think I will just stay with my 1 or 2 slices of bread in the morning. Haha. I am just too tired in the morning to make tons of food, and yes, I could do it the day before, but after a long day and already having cooked dinner, the last I want is make food for the next day. :P After that snacks and I just wanted those mozzarella snacks, never heard of them before but DANG, that looks good! So this chapter starts off perfectly. And the rest of the chapter was just as delicious and just made my stomach rumble like crazy. She wanted ALL the foods. NOW. Sorry stomach, I don't have most of the ingredients in house (I guess in the US you do as many of the recipes are like you have these items in your house). The last two chapters are lunch/dinner and desserts! I really enjoyed reading those two and was amazed at all the yummy food. Yes, I have read the book so far, but really, it just gets yummier with each page.

My favourite part of the book? Snacks! I made so many pictures (as I am throwing away the ebook from my PC when I am done writing this review) so I can check them out later and try to make them. There are many snacks I want to try out, and hopefully I can make them all. YUM!

There are also tips on many of the pages, some had to do with food, others with Tiktok. So it was a bit hit/miss for me if I liked them. I mean, food tips, yas, tiktok tips, I don't care. XD

I am glad that at the end there was a Standard US/Metric Measurement Conversions part. REALLY, I was already worried I would have to go online and do all the things. I always hate doing that. Thank you for adding this one!

Though I have no clue where to get some of the items. I mean, canned biscuits???? Biscuit dough? Blue Majik (which sounds like Jpop band to me)? Ritz crackers? And several other items. I guess in the US these are just easily accessible, but I guess I am have to order online or find alternatives that are in the stores here.

All in all though, I am very happy I got this book and that I could read it. I cannot wait to try my hands on this book. I would recommend it to all who love cooking and want some yummy new recipes. Be warned, you may lick the pages because the photographs look so yummy. Haha.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book gives a brief intro to Tik Tok and the phenomenon of Tik Tok recipes. The book also talks about YouTube and Facebook being "old school" social media which made me feel like I was going to crumble into dust.

There's really two parts of this book. Part of it is how to share your recipes on social media. Mussi recommends editing software, gives tips for planning and framing, and talks about making the algorithm work for you.

Then there's the recipes themselves. There's a lot of focus on whipped drinks which I wasn't expecting. There are some nice photos of recipes and somewhat clear instructions. There's not as much variety of recipes as I expected and some of the recipes I was hoping for aren't included.

Overall it's a recipe book that has beautiful pictures and can teach you about making some Tik Tok recipes.

Oh TikTok, what would quarantine have been like without you? As we all know, TikTok’s popularity has grown in a crazy amount the past year. This cute book not only has recipes but also tips to become successful with TikTok videos. So many fun recipes all in one place with instructions and most have pictures! The Dragonfruit Lemonade Frappe looks amazing and I already put the ingredients on my grocery list! We will be making the cheese stuffed meatballs for dinner tomorrow night! I can’t wait to eat and drink my way through all of these fancy looking recipes!

Can't wait to try out some of these recipes, need to add this to my cookbook collection. I hope to see another book because there are some things that were not in here.

The Unofficial TikTok Cookbook is a fun cookbook and recipe tutorial collection curated by Valentina Mussi. Due out 7th July 2021 from Simon & Schuster on their Adams Media imprint, it's 176 pages and will be available in hardcover and ebook formats.

Social media is definitely here to stay. It's compelling to be able to instantly connect with like-minded (obsessed) fans for *any* niche worldwide, 24 hours a day. We all love looking at funny and adorable cat and baby videos which flit across our facebook and media feeds. TikTok moved the bar higher when it exploded onto our consciousness in 2017 (or really, 2018 for most of us outside Asia).

This is an exuberant, colorful, fun collection full of whimsy. The book is arranged simply and logically with an introduction which attempts to explain the appeal of the extra-ness of TikTok food. Almost everyone loves cheeseburgers, but how about topping that burger with fried mozzarella? The sheer overwhelming abundance of YouTube, Instagram, and other social media food channels show that food culture is more popular and accessible than ever.

The recipes are grouped by category: drinks, breakfast, snacks, lunch & dinner, and desserts. Each of the recipes contains an introduction, yields, ingredients listed bullet style in a sidebar, and step by step instructions. Ingredient measures and temps are provided in American standard only. Most of the ingredients can be easily sourced at any well stocked grocery store in North America. There's a metric/Celsius conversion table included at the back of the book. The book also includes a cross referenced index with ingredients. The photography is very good and nearly every recipe includes one or more color photos.

This is a very youthful, upbeat, exuberant and very very fun cookbook. It would be a great choice for newly flown kids living on their own for the first time, adults who would like to up their fun-food game (perhaps including younger family members in the cooking process), and influencers hunting those "likes". Readers of all ages who have a sense of fun and whimsy will find much to love here.

Five stars. Although I would normally ding the book a half star for the *very* ephemeral nature of the recipes, in this case it's the entire *point* of the book. So bring a dash of adventure and for the target audience, enjoy.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Fun cookbook! There were a bunch of recipes I haven't seen before, and it was missing a few I thought would be included. It's hard to to keep on top of things that move so quickly and become viral. There are quite a few recipes I will be trying from the cookbook. The photos are great and recipes are very clear. The intro for the author was interesting to read.

Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and author for a temporary digital ARC in return for my review!
