Fun cookbook! There were a bunch of recipes I haven't seen before, and it was missing a few I thought would be included. It's hard to to keep on top of things that move so quickly and become viral. There are quite a few recipes I will be trying from the cookbook. The photos are great and recipes are very clear. The intro for the author was interesting to read. Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and author for a temporary digital ARC in return for my review!
Date reviewed/posted: April 6, 2021 Publication date: July 7, 2021 When life for the entire galaxy and planet has turned on its end, you are continuing to #maskup and #lockdown to be in #COVID19 #socialisolation as the #thirdwave ( #fourthwave #fifthwave?) is upon us, superspeed readers like me can read 300+ pages/hour, so yes, I have read the book … and many more today. I requested and received a temporary digital Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley, the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review. From the publisher, as I do not repeat the contents or story of books in reviews, I let them do it as they do it better than I do 😸. Create 75 of the most popular, post-worthy, and fun recipes straight from TikTok with The Unofficial TikTok Cookbook. Become the next viral sensation and make some delicious dishes that will impress all your friends with The Unofficial TikTok Cookbook. From whipped coffee to pancake cereal and mug cakes to seltzer slushies, you can find all the recipes you’ve seen on social media and have been dying to make in one place. Featuring simple, easy-to-follow instructions, you can now create the recipes you’ve seen all over the internet in the comfort of your own home. Whether you want to post your cooking creations online or just share them with your friends, this book is a must-have for chefs of all ages! Okay, I do make fun of Tik-Tok millionaires all the time but most of the recipes I have made as recommended by a friend on her Instagram, I was surprised to see in this book so SHE must be on TIK-TOK..at least as a follower! Very few of these are healthy but this would be the perfect book to give a youngster to entice her (or him...) into the kitchen and making food. It has been proven that kids who are involved in the making of their food eat more ... don't eat those Oreo cookie things everyday, though! If they like the kitchen, they may make more food on their own (or under your supervision) and that is golden! It was also interesting to read about Valentina - my one niece and nephew knew who she was and they also said to mention that there were many recipes that they expected to be in there that were not, but as I am not on Tik-Tok, nor follow it, that was no big deal for me in liking this book or not. The recipes are well written and understandable by cooks of all levels and the photos make the food very appealing to myself and other lovers of food out there including your kids. Gift this book wrapped in some tea towels (there are never enough and you can then teach the kids how the dishes are done and dried....) along with some cookware and/or oven mitts (they are cheap at DollarTree!) and a perfect gift is easily found and given! #jobdone As always, I try to find a reason to not rate with stars as I simply adore emojis (outside of their incessant use by "🙏-ed Social Influencer Millennials/#BachelorNation survivors/Tik-Tok and YouTube Millionaires/snowflakes / literally-like-overusers etc. " on Instagram and Twitter... Get a real job, people!) so let's give it 🧁🧁🧁🧁🧁
Oh TikTok, what would quarantine have been like without you? As we all know, TikTok’s popularity has grown in a crazy amount the past year. This cute book not only has recipes but also tips to become successful with TikTok videos. So many fun recipes all in one place with instructions and most have pictures! The Dragonfruit Lemonade Frappe looks amazing and I already put the ingredients on my grocery list! We will be making the cheese stuffed meatballs for dinner tomorrow night! I can’t wait to eat and drink my way through all of these fancy looking recipes!
Lots of fun ideas, not as comprehensive as the Tasty cookbook, could use more photos to help the step by step guide. But the conversion of video to word was well done and it incorporated all the fan favourites
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Amazing recipes, stunning photography, and great tasting food, this cookbook is amazingly done! A must buy if you enjoy food Tik Toks.
Fun little book. My teens will like this one and it will be easy to turn into a program someday. Trends change so fast though so who knows? There were already some recipes I was expecting to see that were not included, like the breakfast crunch wrap and feta pasta. Lots of these require an air fryer or a waffle maker which if you aren't a hoarder of kitchen appliances a bit of a bummer. Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for the advanced reader copy.
From advice on how to post appealing TikTok cooking videos (in under a minute!) to featured popular recipes, this is a fun book to peruse. I had a digital advance copy that didn't have photos, but many of these recipes appear to lend themselves to be a fun way for parents and kids to cook together. However, be aware that since TikTok trends change quickly, some of the more current offerings may not be featured in this book.
It can get pretty annoying watching the same Tik Tok several times in a row just to try and write down ingredients and directions for a recipe. I was psyched when I saw this cook book available on Netgalley! I have already tried a bunch of the recipes and although they aren't the healthiest, they're great! I haven't made my way through the whole book yet but I have bookmarked a bunch of recipes. This is definitely a must-buy book if you are into trying all the latest cooking trends!
I really enjoyed this fun and delightful cookbook of viral recipes. There were plenty of surprises and I very much like the lovely, well shit photos and clear directions. I think this book is a great unique snapshot of the effect tiktok had on us all during such a wild time in our world and has clearly been lovingly curated. Can't wait to die into it even further! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!
I have seen some some of these viral recipes on social media and it was nice to be able to see the entire recipe (along with tips) in writing. Fun book, I will definitely try some of these recipes.
This aint yo mama’s TikTok, but it is cookin’ Posted on April 29, 2021 by michellelovatosbookreviews, world's first book color commentator, book reviews with a twist Me: Tic Tock. The voice in my head: You mean knock knock. Me: No, Tic Tock. The voice in my head: Alright, I give. Tic Tock what? This TikTok cookbook is sheer genius. From the fertile mind of Valentina Mussi, a.k.a., @sweetportfolio, arrives a brilliant, youthful twist on yo mama’s old cookbook. You’re not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy. This fast-paced, wacky world is way better. The Unofficial TikTok Cookbook: 75 Internet-Breaking Recipes for Snacks, Drinks, Treats, and More! is guaranteed to amuse and inspire human beings everywhere. Damn. I wish I would have thought of this. This little cookbook has everything from Dalgona Latte Coffee to egg lasagna, and whatever a cloud breakfast turns out to be.😊😊 Grab the vegi-ma-tator, or the blending, frapping, whipping, cooking and, whatever “after $%@%!,” device you have on hand, and dive into these pages. Where, oh where do I start? How about cheese puff-crusted chicken fingers? Yes, please. Make mine a double. Clearly, this is a cookbook for the young. Only this group of the adult population can get away with completely destroying any type of nutritional value in a food product whatsoever, and come out on the other end smelling like still-healthy-heart success. But yum. Gimme seconds, the Tums, and the phone number to a good cardiac surgeon. @sweetportfolio (Mussi) says anyone can have the same ol’ regular, boring food. But only readers of The Unofficial TikTok Cookbook can have a banner night, and a morning in the emergency room afterward, and get away with it. I am seriously into this. First, Mussi tells readers all about how to understand the terminology of the TikTok video platform, and how to film your versions of these recipes, so you can share them, and spread marketing word of mouth for @sweetportfolio across the globe. Brilliant. Oh. Did I already say that? Listen up, grandpa. You need this tutorial or you’ll miss out on all the good stuff that will send you straight to the grave, but on the good side, your journey probably won’t taste like chicken. Next, Mussi uncovers the success TikTok algorithm it takes for your videos of her recipes to spread across this popular Internet platform. Ah, I don’t want to betray my age or anything, but do either of those things have to do with food? Bring back the cheese puff chicken fingers. Evidently, good marketing is the next subject in this cookbook, and then there is what appears to be a glossary of emojis (those are tiny little faces that keep popping up everywhere, old people.) And finally, the payoff. We get to page after page of scrumptious TikTok-able recipes to make any old fart want to be young again. This one, readers, is a full-blown blast. And just for clarification. I mean that it’s an explosion of fun. Don’t send the senior citizen’s patrol to my door. Do, however, get this one for your shelf, your e-reader of choice, or your snotty teenage daughter. Then, go find the Tums. Regardless of age, this one’s for you. After all, @sweetportfolio dedicated this book to her Abuelo. BoutiquePublishingService@hotmail.com BoutiqueBooks@hotmail.com Happy are those who respect the Lord and obey him. This was so fun to do with my husband, especially because we both mindlessly scroll through TikTok more than we would like to admit. The design is great, instructions are great, and everything is relatively easily compared to other cookbooks.
Interesting cookbook since I’m not a TikTok user and some sensational hit recipes. If your not into healthy eating then these recipes may be ideal for you. From some frothy drinks to desserts, and some sensations that have become internet famous. What did I like? There is no recipe in this book that I wouldn’t try. Most of them use very few ingredients and look like they would be amazing. From potato waffles to any drink with matcha. Gorgeous pictures! It gives a shout out to Tik Tok and begs you to look up some cooking fun! Would I recommend or buy? I loved the recipes! Most of them are desserts and frothy drinks but there was a ton I bookmarked! It’s an unofficial tik tok cookbook but looks like loads of fun. Anyone who just wants to have some fun while cooking should get this cookbook. Interesting and unique! I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review! Five stars!
I absolutely loved this cookbook. Like many people, I got on Tik Tok when the pandemic started last year and there are always some many fun (and sometimes super adorable) recipes to make. This book is full of them! I love that this is something my 13 year old daughter and I could bond over. She is always asking me to make things off of Tik Tok, and this way we can do it together.
The Unofficial TikTok Cookbook is absolutely adorable! But let’s not just rush into the adorable recipes and first get the interesting beginning information and reference items out of the way. One thing that is amazing about this book is the fact that you can read what the author calls a Brief History. It really is a totally brief history. It has just the right amount of information including history, staples for your pantry, and helpful kitchen tools that you will need to create these awesome creations. Due to the nature of the TikTok video which is between 30 seconds to 1 minute, there are not a lot of ingredients or complicated instructions. The recipes are the very same way, quick recipes that do not take all day to create and all kinds of complicated ingredients you will have to hunt down or pay a fortune to use and end up using sparingly. As stated before, the history is brief with plenty of #hashtags along the way. There are tips for how to create your own videos, how to make your videos on your current account draw in views, and just other all-around great advice. I, personally, love the author’s chipper attitude, but if you are older and maybe a little more jaded… I could see where it might get on someone’s nerves, but let it be noted I do not feel that way! I love it. The recipes are easy, fun, delicious, and the ones I have not tried yet are adorable. I could spend all day on the cereal recipes! Once you start one of these fun treats you cannot stop. I wanted to keep making more and more, and my tummy had to say, NO! Or maybe that was just my jeans. I loved this book so much, and I cannot wait until it comes out so I can buy my cousins’ kids copies too, because Lord knows I will have to buy one for myself! Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for providing me the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I love watching TikTok and on most nights I get sucked into watching DIY or How To cook something on there. As soon as I saw that this book was available to review, I knew I had to do it. I have already made a few of the things this past weekend for Memorial Day and I fell in love with some of them. Of course since I'm addicted to making drinks, that was the first thing that I had to make. The white Hot Chocolate was my favorite and I can't wait to try the Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea once I find some boba's I'd like. I have a few other things that are on my must try list and they sure look easy to make. This is a book that once is out I will be adding to my cookbook collection!
This is a book about what exactly is in the description. It's got all the TikTok recipes for food trends that are all over social media right now. I think this book is great for people who want to physically read the recipes without having to rewatch a video multiple times. I also think it's important to note the author included ways to beat the algorithm to gain more followers and interactions for people who want to become TikTok creators. Some of the tips can be used regardless of your loacation.
I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this, as I don't use TikTok. However, my daughter squealed with delight when I told her we had gotten a copy of this book. So far, we have tried the strawberry coconut milk drink (a great sub for the Pink Drink), the Hashbrown Waffles, Pizza in a mug, and souffle pancake bites. All have been delicious and did not disappoint! In addition, the recipes are fairly easy and something I can make WITH my kids. Would recommend!
I have been obsessed with TikTok since quarantine, and I was thrilled to get an advanced copy of this cookbook. I cannot tell you how many times I pass over a recipe on TikTok and wish I had written it down or saved the video so that I could make it later. Lucky for me, someone had the idea to compile the recipes for me! Many were new to me and many were familiar. Thank you to NetGalley and Adams Media for a copy of this audiobook for an honest review.
I liked this cookbook, and it was nice to see quantities and directions for recipes I’d seen online. I especially liked the desserts! Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
In the spirit of full disclosure I'm going to tell you upfront that I know very little about TikTok and have pretty much zero interest in it, however, I do love recipes, cookbooks and cooking. This book includes a selection of recipes that are fun and have flair. There are not photos of every recipe but what photos there are a very visually appealing. Is this for the serious cook? I would say no. But if you are someone who likes to experiment in the kitchen or have kids you might like to entice into the kitchen, I think this is a good choice. The author tosses in some cooking tips and hints along with info about being on TikTok, getting your recipes on there and the tools needed to do so. For me personally most of that was just a waste of space for me that I would have rather seen devoted to more recipes but to each their own.
TicToc has taken the nation by storm. It’s full of almost everything, but for cooks, it features recipes with videos showing how to make them. This is fun, of course, but many of the recipes are tempting and delicious, and for some reason, many people have trouble staying away from them. I am one of those who actually makes the recipes I find, so I appreciate the fac t the Valentina Mussi has compiled some of the most popular recipes from TicToc and published hem in an excellent cookbook, The Unofficial TikTok Cookbook: 75 Internet-Breaking Recipes for Snacks, Drinks, Treats, and More!. These are recipes that have gone viral (the phonemon of viral is explained as well as what goes into a TicToc post). Mussi offers a simple explanation of how to create posts on TicToc, which can be helpful if that’s a goal. It’s unfortunate that there aren’t more recipes, but the 75 that Mussi has included are good ones and are also fun. The drinks chapter has lots of fun drinks that will appeal to both adults and children. They sound wonderful and there are photographs of each one to make them even more tempting. Breakfasts come next with pancakes, sandwiches, grain dishes, casseroles, and waffles. Snacks, Lunch and Dinner, and luscious desserts. Mussi takes advantage of modern time-saving appliances such as the air fryer and waffle maker, which almost everyone owns. She also offers kitchen hacks, which are often clever and definitely save time. All told, even though most of us check TicToc often, this cookbook is worth owning and will be used often. Fun! Fun! Fun! Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. If you are an experienced chef, or want to do some serious family meals, this book isn't going to teach you anything new, instead, its a light- hearted fun recipe book on what's trending on Tik Tok, and I did learn a thing or two on styling my food photos. The recipes that I tried or caught my eyes are: - Pink Coconut Drink: i used a red herbal tea bag instead of the hibiscus tea power, with the coconut milk, it did remind me of the Starbuck's summer Pink drink. - Mermaid Smoothie Bowl: replaced BLue Majik with Acai, and it was good - Cookie Butter Croissant: of course it would be delicious - Pink Chia Pudding- easy and taste good - Pepperoni Pizza Rolls- easy to make, and very popular with my kid - Pizza in a mug: This one was just okay, the texture of the cracker was a bit weird - Unicorn Fudge: I know my daughter will love it, planning to make some for her birthday.
If you’re expecting a book full of gourmet recipes and professional cooking tips, you might want to take another look at what tik tok actually is! That being said, this was a fun cookbook to check out! I don’t often find myself on the cooking side of tik tok, but I’ve seen a few videos. Especially that viral pasta dish that was going around awhile back. The Unofficial TikTok Cookbook is full of recipes that are fun and interesting, although they are nowhere near the healthiest foods you’ll ever make! The book was full of colorful photos and would be a great book for anybody obsessed with tik tok!
This was a great cookbook but also very informative about Tik Tok and the nature of viral videos as well. I loved all the extras and was happy to add some of these recipes to my collection.
if you have seen any food from TikTok and wanted to know how they made it. This is the book for you. I really enjoyed it. It had great recipes to try and some tips about how to put it on TiTok. I'm giving The Unofficial TikTok Cookbook a 4 out of 5 stars. Thanks to Netgalley for a e ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
As a avid cookbook reader and from someone who does not know anything about tik tok, I really enjoyed this book. The recipes are so interesting and innovative. As a mother and teacher it gives me inspiration and new creative thoughts to bake and inspire for my students. I would recommend this book to teenagers interesting in baking or cooking and likes tik tok. Or even college bound students who need fun ideas of cooking and learning how to create fun meals on their own.
