Cute story! I loved the behind-the-scenes of a famous boys' band and how fame will drive you insane and make you do stupid things. I liked how they address the control managers and record labels have over the artist (Britney Spears was right after all...) and how they have to try to make up a persona for the audience etc.

Now the audiobook is not great! I was so confused because it was moving from the 2 POVs we got but the narrator for me made the same exact voice i was listening and then some things did not make sense to me until I pay closer and like hyper attention. I had to relly on some aspects of each character to see which POV I was following at the moment. this was also because the 2 of them were very similar. for me i felt very close in things at the beginning than moving a bit far away when you reach further in the story but not much.

It was a fine read not amazing i think it brought nothing new to the table at this point even the side people of the scenes were just meh IDK i did not vibed and it is a bit sad because I can see a lot of people liking it but it was not for me!

Although this has been in my library for over a year now, I've been wanting to read it for a while. I really like Sophie Gonzales' novels and the premise sounds intriguing -a four person boy band where two fall in love. Sounds awesome, right?!

Now, I adored the romance between Ruben and Zach. I was surprised by how heavy some topics were and the length of this novel. I think due to the seriousness of some topics, the middle felt a bit lengthy but I loved the build up and the conclusion of this novel.

Definitely recommend a read if this sounds up your alley.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Wednesday Books for a copy of this novel. ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

This book was entirely too long. I also wish I hadn’t listened to the audiobook. It got confusing very easy.

Overall it was an okay read. I liked it enough but didn’t love it.

This was like someone's favorite Boy Band fan fic come to life and I was here for it! I loved the realistic interpretation of the pain and trials that members of boy bands, or really any famous musician, go through in order to maintain the image that their management wants them to portray.

I recommend this to anyone that loves or has ever been "obsessed" with a boy band!

YA Boy Band with M/M romance should be a great read for me but this one had a hard time holding my interest.

I usually love YA books but this one was high on the angst and that’s my least favorite part of YA books.

I think I love the coming of age stories when they are about self discovery or dystopian or saving the world. So maybe YA romances are just not my thing.

The boy band and multiple POV’s were fun and put a different spin on things at least.

Just an ok read for me.

I absolutely adored this book! It was a captivating story line with interesting, empathetic, and flawed characters. Showed the humanity of people and that everyone makes mistakes and how we respond to setbacks is what defines us, not the setbacks themselves. I have this in my classroom library!

Absolutely flew through this once I picked it up at a coworker’s very strong recommendation! Equal parts a romance and a story about trying to find yourself when everyone around you is working HARD to jam you into a mold. This is a book for anyone who loves a fun time and anyone who has ever in their life stanned a boy band.

If This Gets Out managed to be hilarious and heartbreaking in equal measures.

The varying emotions of the characters throughout the story as they tried to deal with the highs and lows that life threw at them had me absorbed and rooting for them from the very first page.

The plot itself was slightly unbelievable at moments but this didn’t pull me out of the story too much, and the two writers voices blended together wonderfully to create a fully cohesive story.

This was the perfect amount of cute and important.

Zach, Ruben, Jon and Angel are the singers of Saturday, the boy band of the moment. Ruben and Zach are best friends and one night that evolves into something more. But they quickly realize that their label won't let them be who they are in public and everything starts falling apart.

I loved the four boys. All of them were going through something and had to do what they were told in order to keep the peace with their label. But Zach and Ruben are the main characters and their story is incredible.

I loved some of the conversations in here about figuring out what you really want, staying true to yourself, asking for help when you need it, love who you want and that sometimes family is the people you choose.

I really liked the romance, they were super cute together.

Also I liked the we get to see the ugly part of being famous, how not everything is pretty and how there's people who won't treat them like human beings.

I was recently thinking about this cause I've seen an artist that I love having to endure been followed to her studio and her home by supposed fans and that's not okay. Those are not the real fans. We see that here too.

There's also the good part where fans loved them no matter what and did everything they could to help them. I loved that.

It was a fantastic story.

I was excited to read this book. But unfortunately, the story captivate me and I had a hard time moving forward with it. I ended up not finishing it.

I was interested to read this title , I've enjoyed Sophie Gonzales' earlier work, and really hated Cale Dietrich. The combination was.. okay. Multiple boyband YA titles have come out in the past year and I have read a handful. While I think it is a fun subject, often they fall flat. The main characters are very unlikable and have little growth. I don't see it benefiting a teen to read this.

When I read the synopsis of this book and it was based on a boyband you better believe I added it to my TBR as quickly as possible. When I started reading it became even more than I had hoped and it was an amazing read.

What I loved:
- Boy band formula, I was and still am a HUGE boy band person and I feel like this book portrayed the "formula" perfectly.
- The band, I love how all of the guys in the band are supportive of each other and really try to put the best for the people before the band
- Touring, I really enjoyed how the actual touring was portrayed. In my mind I always imagine that touring it fun and the artists get to experience so much but this book helped curb that bias with realities
- Ruben/Zach, they were friends before they became more and I loved reading the development of their relationship with different stressors and experiences

This was a sweet book that did a good job with providing insights into different experiences covering everything from sexuality, coming out, substance abuse, corporate greed and the various sides of the boy band life. I listened to the audiobook and read this together and I think the audiobook was really well produced with amazing voice talent. If you are looking for books with more representation and have any love of boy bands I would absolutely recommend you checking this book out!

I received an arc of this book back in 2021 but it got pushed away and alas I never read it. Well, until now at least, because today I finally finished the book and I have a lot of thoughts!

In the end I truly enjoyed this book! Queer novels just hold such an important place in my heart and this gave me that feeling I've been looking to experience in a book that I haven't felt in a while. The feeling of the book being so gripping and exciting that I can't put it down. Reading about Ruben and Zach was a roller coaster of emotions that had some extreme highs and extreme lows, with impossible stakes and larger than life experiences.

I loved the complexity of the novel, with the plots and subplots seamlessly interweaving together in a way that felt natural and polished. It truly gave me a different perspective on what it's like to be famous and how that can effect everything about you. I honestly felt so much for the band and the things they were pushed into doing and hiding.

That being said, there were a few small things about this book that I didn't enjoy so much. Probably the biggest was that the two points of view were so similar that often I'd forget who's POV I was reading and have to force myself to search for an answer, As you can imagine, this unfortunately took me out of the reading experience momentarily which was something I didn't want to happen. But at the end of the day if that is the largest complaint I have then I'll take that as a good sign! Everything else made up for it and then some.

So at the end of the day this is a very solid 4 star book!

Imagine if Harry and Louis were real and what would happen.
This book was a super fun and light read, with boy bands, music and tour.
Super recommend this, I read it in one day, I couldn’t put it down!

This was a typical YA read. I think those who were obsessed with bands like One Direction will love this and the angst that fills it.

I really really liked this book 🥺 I have been a boyband girl since I was a pre-teen, so this was the perfect book for me. It was really fun to see the whole thing behind the scenes, especially now in an age where social media gives you the illusion that you know more about famous people than you really do. The authors do a really good job of illustrating the fact that no matter how much you think you know your favorite artists, it's all manufactured (especially with boybands, K-pop, and any other company-formed groups).

The relationship between Ruben and Zach was super cute. I was of course drawn to Zach because Sophie Gonzales always writes some of my favorite bi characters, and Zach is no different. I really liked his journey through figuring out his identity and how supportive Ruben was of him.

And the ending was also very sweet and hopeful. It seems like a fantasy still (except for the sadly realistic reaction from the management company and the record label), but hopefully someday soon something like Zach and Ruben's story will be true in the real world.

Heartfelt and vulnerable, Ruben and Zach are members of an all-boy band touring America. Their friendship among splinters in the band creates an opportunity for their relationship to bloom into a romance. The trouble between the band members creates the opportunity for the two of them to bond, while their desire to be known for who they are arises for them at the same time. Coming out story of two young men who need each other during tough times. Their experience frees them allowing them to show up in the world as they want to be seen.
