The characters were all interesting and I could understand the decisions each person made, even when it was a move i disagreed with. I found myself engaged in the past story of our lead growing up and falling in love particularly.
the writing style was not a fave of my mine and I often found it difficult to keep reading, perhaps because this is not a usual genre i choose to read.
Overall, it was ok.

The course of true love never did run smooth” applies very well to this LesFic debut novel. Told in duel timelines by our imperfect protagonist Kirsten. We meet her twice—initially as she realizes she and her partner of five years are not on the same page. She doesn’t handle it well and honestly I struggled to like her at all—she makes bad choices, betrays her partner and seems very insensitive and self centered. More than once I thought “Who hurt you?” Then we meet her in her “coming of age” that becomes her “coming out” story. I really loved this younger Kirsten aged 11-16. She is smart, self aware and adventurous. Her first love story is handled with a tremendous amount of honesty, tenderness and respectful authenticity. The amount of literature and 1970/80s references brought a smile to my face more than once.
Themes of first love, same sex attraction, family life, coming out in a small town, reconciling conservative religious values resonated with me on a profound level. Kirsten remains imperfect but as these layers are peeled back you begin empathize with her bravely living her truth.

I highly recommend this book! Thanks to #NetGalley & author/publisher for an ARC copy upon my request.

I liked this book. It was well-written and full of angst which I always enjoy in a book and it didn’t miss with this one! It wasn’t overplayed and I felt a lot of the emotions the author was looking to convey. I liked the seriousness of the book, it definitely it’s a light novel. I think it is worth reading!

This book is quite angst-filled and emotional. It holds the interest, but is less about light fun and enjoyment and more about the realities of some relationships. Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a DNF for me, I could not get into the writing style and the format it was written in.

Thank you for the ARC.

The marriage story but with actual substance. I felt for both women. There wasn't a side to pick; and everyone in this story had a story to tell of their own. It showed the true issue when it comes to marriage; the power in balances between two individuals and how that can drive a wedge within a relationship. Very eye opening and admirable.
