This book was a mess, but I swear I mean it in the nicest way possible. There were so many tropes and cliches all over the place that it gave me whiplash, but with that being said, it was a page turner for sure. As much as I found myself rolling my eyes and questioning what it was I was reading, I really did enjoy it.

I feel like the summary doesn't adequately describe what this book is truly about. I mean, the bet only takes up maybe the first 20% of the book, and everything else is just a whole different plot.

~~~SPOILERS AHEAD~~~
I gotta say, I wasn't the biggest fan of Tempest. Her attitude towards work didn't make sense to me. She turned down one job offer that would have been perfect for her skillet because she didn't feel they could see her worth, but then turned around and started working for a catering company (which has nothing to do with her skilled training). Then there's the whole declaration of love. Tempest knew Leo for 4 months. For half of that, she hated him. The other half, she actively avoided him. So I'm so confused about how she suddenly just loves him? And how she's able to tell him so? It's weird, and she's the reason I didn't rate this higher.
One of my favourite tropes enemies to lovers! So I knew I had to read this one!
This book starts off with a bet by Tempest and her friend Blair. Tempest has to go on a date with the billionaire responsible for creating a software program that made her recently loose her job........All sorts of mishaps happen and it was such an easy fun read!
This book is well written, hilarious and sweet. I had moments where I was genuinely laughing. I really enjoyed the main characters dialogue with each other.
3.5 stars
Some of the plot was a bit predictable and rushed at times.
More of personal preference but there was no steamy scenes! The characters had great chemistry but hardly ever even kissed. If you are someone who doesn’t like steamy romcoms you’ll probably really enjoy this!
Overall Betting on Love is an enjoyable, light book and a good RomCom!
I enjoyed this book. Would recommend this book to someone who wants to have light romantic novelette. It was fast paced. Of course, there are some some weak points like the bet, the procrastination and the coincidences, But guess thats what adds to the humour factor to this book.
I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters and that they were not completely the typical rom-com leads. Tempest is tall (unlike the typical rom-com heroines who tend to be petite), although she is tall and thin like a model. Leonard is described as being a normal looking guy with thinning hair, which is a refreshing change from the typical male model male lead. The twist regarding their families was pretty predictable, but maybe that was intentional? I didn’t really appreciate when during one of Leonard’s sections that he thinks about how little he finds Tempest’s sister attractive, which makes it sound like he finds her post partum body unappealing. That’s a bit disappointing and makes him seem shallow.
I appreciated that Tempest was the one who initiated things towards the end. It seemed just a little abrupt after the buildup through the book. I found the setting being in Texas interesting, although for the most part, the book could been set anywhere. I also thought the mentions of religion interesting and not overbearing. That’s very unusual for a rom-com, especially one with sexual content (although not super graphic content).
One thing I have to mention, although my opinion here will probably make no difference……the cover just does disservice to the book. It looks like something self-published. It doesn’t even really make sense after reading the book.
Overall I had fun reading this book and would consider reading something else by this author.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Wild Rose Press, Inc for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is a new author for me. I really enjoyed this book. It made me laugh. Talk about convoluted. LOL Ok its probably not realistic in many ways, and I am sure that some will say they should have slept together sooner. Tempest I am sure felt she was never going to get a break. Also the bet scenario was a bit lame but overall still a fun book. 3.5 stars. I would recommend this book to romance readers, and I would read this author again.
Mary Beesley is new to me and I already want to find more of her, but it seems she is just beginning to release her books. I loved Tempest and Leonard and their realistic personalities, fears, frustrations and developing love life! Their conversation is witty, funny, sarcastic, heart-breaking and charming.
As a general rule, I do not read stories about billionaires because they do not seem realistic. Yet, Leo/Ardy was so down to earth and casual. Tempest was adorable, loyal, forgiving and self-reflective. So, these two hit it off spontaneously, yet, did not jump into bed within the first three days or even first three hours of meeting. In addition, there was plenty of sexual tension and a bit of faith.
You will love this unique look at betting and romance! I cannot wait for more of Beesley’s books!!!
I throughly enjoyed this book, if I could give it more stars I would because 5 stars aren’t enough
This book was witty and extremely hard to put down, I was even dreaming of what would happen next, it was a very easy book to follow and to lose yourself in the book, it had a lot of emotions, sometimes i even felt that i was sitting on the edge asking will they or wont they?
Tempest swan is out for revenge. Billionaire Leonard Allread’s software program has put her out of a job, she makes a bet with a friend that she’ll get Leonard to take her on a date so she can get retribution, but a fortuitous accident with an adorable nerd might just derail her vengeance. Leonard has reasons for hiding his identity from the public. It’s worked well for him so far, until he starts falling for the honest and witty Tempest. But how can he destroy their budding romance by admitting he’s actually the guy she hates
The story of Tempest and Leonard.
When Tempest loses her job because it is made redundant by software Leonard created, she accepts a bet from her friend to find him and get him to take her on a date. But on the way to try and hunt him down she meets Arty and starts to fall for him - what will she do when she realises who he really is.
Add in the family drama happening around them, and will they ever get a chance to be together?
A great read, looking forward to more from this author
Such a cute romance novel! Very cute book! You'll feel.so many emotions while reading Betting on Love!
Tempest was an awesome character I loved her! Looking for a cute, out for revenge, falling in love with the enemy book?! Read this!
I clearly didn't like this book. I was expecting something more. Although it had the potential. However, I loved the cover. It was pretty darn cute. The synopsis was kinda misleading. Because Tempest was not out for revenge at all. And I think I already mentioned that the bet was lame. I kept expecting Tempest and Leo to act on their attraction which they only did at the end. It's like I read the whole book for nothing. Meh!
