I really enjoyed this book. It was a great storyline with excellent characters. I would highly recommend this book as it was a great read.

This is an absurdist sci-fi hero’s journey, featuring an everyman, Jim, who discovers that not only is the world not at all what it appears to be, he is far from what he believes himself to be. The world is as the conspiracy kooks see it, Jim is Satan’s spawn, and it will fall to him and his mildly villainous cohort to save the world from another -- also semi-evil -- faction.

Absurdist stories can get away with all sorts of deus ex machina happenings and logical inconsistencies that would never fly in other genres. This book capitalizes on this fact to some degree. However, one can only really get away with those problematic story elements if the book is: 1.) a laugh-riot of hilarity - such that the reader doesn’t notice or care about those “defects,” or 2.) carefully composed be clear in the face of the bizarreness that is part and parcel of the genre. This book is fully neither. Don’t get me wrong; it’s an amusing story with some genuinely humorous events and turns of phrase. However, it also has more fun with plays on the word “Uranus” than anyone other than an eight-year-old boy has a right to have. While it has its moments, some of the humor feels forced, and so the overall effect isn’t likely to remind readers of the work of Douglas Adams.

If you’re looking for a carefree read that will give you a chuckle here and there, give this book a look. But I can’t say that I got drawn into it to the point that I was desensitized to its spasticity.

This is kind of funny in spots. If you don't take it too seriously (e.g. conspiracy theories), you might enjoy this light read. There some typos (in my review copy), which was distracting.

Thanks very much for the copy for review!!

This book is genuinely funny. The conspiracy theories are right. The Antichtis is chasing the Uranian that crashed at Roswell etc.

But there is a big problem. I won't beat around the bush. The author is dyslexic. The book was self published. Nobody corrected the innumerable grammatical errors, typos and misspellings. I found it very hard to read.

Sheeple by Simon Carr was received directly from the publisher and I chose to review it. Reading the description of this book, I was torn between reading it or not. I mean is it going to be another "woke" POS or not? I chose to read it and it was not what I was afraid of. It was more along the lines of making fun of everyone, which I can agree to. As always, I will not go into the book plot, what there is of one, but if you, or someone you buy gifts for likes books that make you laugh and makes fun of everyone, give this book a read.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy although it may have been a read now.
This is hard to give a review because I don't know if it was the Galley or what but I found it hard to read due to some formatting quirks. I am sure the published copy is cleaner.
While the premise and the plot intrigued me i found it hard to get past above flaw and fact there were routine grammar and spelling errors.
On the positive side it seemed like a fun book to write and at least some of that sense of fun bled through to the reader. The humor although suffers the occasional miss is overall good.

I received this ARC from Netgalley in return for an honest review. First of all, let me say, I love a good Sci-Fi, Thriller, Action, Comedy. And this book has it all.. Simon Carr does a great job of rolling up almost all our conspiracy theories and bundling them into one big mockery of the human race. Excellent reading that had me laughing almost nonstop for the entire work. But it does make you think, who is running the show? #Sheeple #NetGalley

I know this book is supposed to be funny, I mean with the premise that every conspiracy theory is true how could it not be, and yet the funniness wears off very quickly. I suppose invoking the devil was the only way that there could be reasonable explanation of why any organization would intentionally foster false information, create faulty products, influence elections, etc.

There were many places this book could’ve gone but after I had read more than half of it I felt it hadn’t gone anywhere. I don’t think I’m the target audience for this book and I disliked it. I didn’t finish it.

I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and chose to write a review.

This book is unique in that it plants the reader immediately into a world in which every major, well-known conspiracy theory is true and active. There is very little explanation, and things fly forward at an incredible pace with tour protagonist taking mostly everything as fact. This is an interesting way to cover a great deal of subject matter without pesky things like character development getting in the way.

Our protagonist Jim discovers he’s very special and is required to take up a job spreading ‘evil’ around the world in the form of conspiracies. Some come across as minor or major inconveniences, annoyances and practical jokes, some are widespread misinformation about public health and safety, and other are just plain controlling the world’s governments. The ideas are humorous.

A few criticisms I had that made this book a bit tough to read:
1) It is in sore need of an editor and a proper formatting - it is filled with typos, incorrect spellings (in addition to the very obviously intentional ones), and wrong wording, to the point that it kept pulling me out of the story and detracted from the enjoyment.
2) Every time a speaker said something, it began first with their name followed by a comma, then their speech:
Ie Jim,
No way!
Carl,
It has to be that way.
Nora,
Sorry about that...
This formatting really detracted form the flow of reading for me unfortunately.

I loved the premise of this book and think it could be even better and laugh out loud funny if put through a good editor and tightened up a bit.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for this honest review.
