Brides & Brothers was a laugh out loud funny story that takes a fresh look at the old Seven Brides for Seven Brothers movie. After a whirlwind get to know you Camille and Aiden marry. In the speedy engagement she never quite makes time to go meet his family or see his house, so the fact that all Aiden's brothers live in the same house is quite a surprise.

While Camille and Aiden work hard to strengthen a relationship, they also work hard to help all his brothers find love... with all her friends.

This was the perfect book to kick off my summer reading!

This book is a sweet romance book with a nice premise. I really like the heroine but the book pace was a little slow for my taste. Also another think I didn't see coming was the importance of the religion which was not bad but was a little too much for me.
Overall it is a nice clean romance with a HEA

I'm a big fan of the 1950s musical "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," so was really excited to check this book out.

It's certainly an entertaining present-day retelling of the story I know so well! I was a little disappointed to realize that it's more specifically Mormon fiction (though there's only a couple references to the two-year service mission); that just hadn't been clear in the description; the publisher listing on BN (which also would have tipped me off) differed from NetGalley's listing as well.

I felt like the story could have been shortened up a bit. But, its close parallel to "Seven Brides" kept me most invested in the read. An enjoyable way to pass an afternoon.

I received an eARC of the book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Aiden Peterson is getting tired of looking after his six brothers and re-heating frozen food. His grown brothers like to date, but are in no hurry to marry. As his 30th birthday draws near and his software is ready to sell, Aiden decides it's time to get married himself and set the example for his younger brothers.
Camille Kelly just needs her computer fixed so she can do her online teaching and figure out where her life is going. Falling in love with the handsome guy who helps her out and marrying him after a whirlwind romance seems like a fairytale, but finding herself as the cook, laundress, and den mother for 6 brothers is no dream come true. Maybe the best way to solve her problems is to help the brothers find wives of their own.
Fans of the musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers will enjoy this light-hearted romance with the feel of a classic screwball comedy.

I enjoyed reading this novel! It was clean and fun to read! Camille is annoyed that her laptop is having problems, so her sister gives her the phone number of her boyfriend's brother, who is a computer guy. She takes it to him, and they hit it off. Aiden, the computer guy, is quite taken with Camille. They begin dating, and in just two weeks time, become engaged. They marry, and she learns he has six younger brothers. And they live with him. When he is taken to a job in another state, she is left to deal with these single brothers in her house. Fortunately, she has five wonderful single friends that meet these brothers, and craziness ensues. A very fun and very clean story to read and enjoy!

Cute retelling of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Strong Hallmark vibes with mostly likable characters and easy to read storytelling.

I would categorize this as Christian fiction, which does make for a very clean read. Throughout the book many of the characters are described as being deeply religious and they frequently talk about their faith. That in itself didn’t bother me. What did bother me is that those very same characters kept making very immature, naive and (at times) selfish decisions. Also, in a brief scene towards the end of the book an elderly women from their church harshly assumes that someone got pregnant before marriage and is pretty mean about it. Overall, it didn’t paint the best impression of devout Christians.

That being said, I still enjoyed aspects of this novel and look forward to trying some of the authors historical romances.

I would recommend this to someone who likes ‘Sevens Brides’, rom-coms and Christian fiction.

A sweet, clean romance.

<b> What did I like? </b>
- Family Structure. Creating over 14 characters and trying to give justice does not seem like an easy task but the author excelled. They all seemed distinct enough, especially the brothers with their characteristics and physical attributions.
- Clean romance. I live for clean romance.
- Siblings supporting one another and looking after their best interests.
- Friends lifting each other up.
- Thought it was pretty clever to name all the brothers in ascending order of the alphabet. A,B,C,D,E,F,G. (Helped me remember their order that way tbh.)
- Religious aspect to a certain point. (Read below.)
- It was cute that the author named Camille after her best friend. A sweet gesture.
- B's jokes.

<b> What could've been better? What I didn't like? </b>
- The religious part had been too much. It didn't feel right after a point. I was rooting for it through the first half of the book. After a point, I found myself sighing. <spoiler> What was it with the bible reference and Aiden's kidnapping plan??????</spoiler>
- I commend the author for the creation and narration of all these characters but it still didn't feel enough. Of course, that is the risk of working with so many characters at the same time. Some might be sidelined and others with the excessive spotlight even if the MC were A and Camille.
- Characters not taking enough control of their lives? Camille trying to be manipulative/matchmaker and it all somehow just works?

<b> Miscellaneous Rambles. </b>
- Camille kept saying she lived with "7 men". G was away, it should've been 6. And then so was A.
-A and Camille's relationship felt awkward at times including the dialogues.
-Same with Camille and her mother. I am still trying to process how they JUST made up.
-Some light on G's personality would've been nice.

Overall, it's a sweet book. I did like reading it. 3/5

I really enjoyed this read and liked the similarities to Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Aiden is the oldest of 7 brothers who has been responsible for taking care of all his younger brothers. Now he finally is ready to do something for himself and would love to find a wife. Camille is about to be kicked out her apartment and doesn't know where she is going to go. They fall quickly and marry in a whirlwind. At times I felt like the book was going slow, but then it would jump ahead. I felt like facts were thrown in sometimes last minute to try to explain certain things. I loved seeing their love grow and Camille getting to know the brothers. Overall a fun read

Brilliant and entertaining, this story has it all! The characters are so real, with relatable problems and heartaches. You quickly fall in love with Aiden and Camille and want things to work out well for them. It's fun getting to know all of the many brothers too! What a fun throw back to the musical, with some very memorable scenes thrown in to take you there. This book kept me yearning for more, loved it!

I liked aspects of this book, it was cute ... a clean romance ... and had some fun characters. The storyline between the MC and her mom was really good and the marital problems between her and her husband was realistic. But overall, I thought the storyline pretty far-fetched and conversations didn't feel natural.

I received this ARC through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I found this book to be a fun distraction and a quick read. I loved the connection to Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I also liked how the book dealt with common issues for both single and married people. I enjoyed the connections Camille makes with each of her unexpected brother-in-laws and the relationship she forms with each of them. There were times when the connections between the characters felt forced and I would have loved more background on the previous relationship between Camille and Aiden. While I understand this is Camille and Aiden's story, I also wanted to know more on how the friends and brothers established their relationships. Overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a modern Christian romance.

I didn't expect a Christian romance when reading the presentation (and be warned, it really is!).

It was a first for me. I had no prejudice against it, I had no idea what it would be like.

I can't say that, taken separately, the characters weren't sweet. Religion was just overwhelming, for me. The idea that everything happening was God's will, that every answer could be found in the Bible while sometimes it was clearly bad human decisions was really disturbing. It may be seen as a very cute romance but it made me feel mainly uneasy for the girls.

The idea of Aiden and Camille meeting several years before was interesting but the author didn't show how it impacted them (which is implied)

Thank you to Netgalley for providing an eARC in exchange of an honest review.

I loved the play Seven Brides for Seven brothers so when I saw this book I was excited to read it. I liked how Camille and Aiden got together. While their romance was rushed it felt realistic. I really enjoyed the family dynamics of the brothers. I thought the author followed the storyline of Seven Brides for Seven brothers well while still making it modern and believable.

I found this book to be a interesting read I found some of it funny and it was a quite good modern retelling the only downside was that it was a Christian romance and I just don’t like reading them in general.

4.5 stars
This was a cute fun book, that concept sounded really interesting so I was excited to read it. Brides and Brothers is a retelling of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers written by Anneka R. Walker. I hadn’t heard of the music before, but the retelling was super good. Brides and Brothers is a fun rom-com story!
Camille Kelly has kind of given up on love, she is in real danger of becoming an old maid. But then a broken laptop leads her to Aiden Peterson, a tall, dark, and handsome computer genius. Before she knows it, she finds herself married to the love of her life. However, she soon learns that Aiden is part of a package deal. Aiden has been living and leading his seven younger brothers ever since his parents died. When he falls for Camille, he knows that she is the perfect fit for his family. But marriage takes a lot more work and having seven grown men living in the same house makes things difficult. Camille wants her brothers-in-law out and the only option is to marry them off. Who better to marry her brothers-in-law then her best friends.
I liked Camille, she tried her best to make the most of her situations. She was a hard worker, but she was also tired of doing everything herself. She was such a mother figure and she did care about Aiden’s brothers, but she also wanted to spend time with her husband. However Camille had to learn how to talk to Aiden and not just let her feelings lead her. She was strong, but she also had to learn how to let others help her.
Okay, so I did like Aiden but he also got on my nerves. He didn’t understand women, but he was trying his best. He was a sweet guy, who had been shouldering the burden of caring for his brothers for a long time. He loved Camille from the beginning, but he didn’t know who to best show her his love. He needed to learn how to put Camille and their marriage before his brothers. I liked reading about Aiden grow, learning to talk to Camille and how to lead her.
Camille and Aiden were super sweet together. They loved each other from the beginning, but making a marriage work is a lot of work. There were a lot of obstacles in their path that they needed to learn to overcome together. As Aiden and Camille learned how to be married, life keeps on throwing them loops. However with the help of their brothers and friends, they may just make it work.
It was fun to read about Aiden’s brothers and Camille’s friends. They were perfect for each other, but they also had their differences. I liked how Aiden’s brothers came to care for Camille and how they looked out for her. It wasn’t always smooth sailing, but they tried their best. Camille’s friends were so funny and they were so loyal to Camille. They wanted her to find her happiness. I loved reading about them all together, and read as Camille tries to match up her brother-in-laws with her friends.
Brides and Brothers was a lovely book and I would totally recommend it! It is a clean, contemporary, inspirational romance. I would recommend it to those who like some faith, Christian aspects, but not a lot. The characters were engaging and the story line was fun!

Thanks, NetGalley, for this advance copy! I think Walker is a fine writer. This book is more of a Christian romance which isn't my cup of tea. HOWEVER- I think people who do enjoy that genre will like this book. I always enjoy a modern take on an old, well-known story. I think it is a sweet book that someone else would like.

I love the movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and I am pleased by this modern retelling! Some of it was funny, some was a little contrived, and some was a little silly and immature, but overall a good effort. The one downside for me was the grasp at Christianity. Clearly the characters were supposed to be members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, yet the author chose to veil that and claim them as merely all around Christian. However, having them be Christian was a background thought instead of a true characteristic. Their Christianity only seemed to play a role when life was difficult and they told each other to pray. Being a Christian, LDS or not, is more than praying when life is tough.

I was provided with an ARC of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

BRIDES AND BROTHERS by ANNEKE R WALKER is a fun read that is highly reminiscent of the film Seven brides For Seven Brothers.
It is enjoyable and lighthearted as we see newly married Camille Peterson playing matchmaker, trying to marry off her husband's brothers to her friends.
It is not as easy as it seems at first and we wonder if her own marriage is going to suffer due to her interference.
The characters are interesting and the author gives us a look into family dynamics of a rather unusual kind.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Covenant Communications. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

A delightful lighthearted novel that lifted my spirits. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and was captured from the moment I began. There are some great life and family lessons in the story of this large family.
