An adorkable modern take on Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I appreciate that no actual kidnapping takes place, but the constant gender stereotyping was cringey. I'll keep it in mind for reader's advisory when someone is only comfortable with an occasional kiss in their stories and nothing further.

This book is a re-telling of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, a musical that I loved as a kid. Back in the day the musical somehow worked and ended up being funny and romantic in a slightly disturbing way. I really wanted to completely love this book, but the premise is hard to do in modern day.

I enjoyed the story of Camille and Adam, and the way their relationship formed. Honestly, one whole book could have been told just flushing out their characters and their relationship. I didn’t like that Adam left out that his brothers all lived with him, and then basically kind of just ditched the whole situation to Camille. I feel like a modern day re-telling could have had Adam a little more involved than the previous version to make Adam more likeable.

Again, if each brother had a book so that we got to know them better and got to know their personalities and the women they were matched up with, I would have liked this book better. I didn’t feel connected with many of the characters, but with so many, it is hard to do in just one book.

This was a fun story to read. Some moments were laugh out loud funny, while other moments were just feel good and heart warming. I really enjoyed how the story shows the power of forgiveness in relationships and forgiveness. The characters frequently talk about relying on God to help them. The story wrapped up nicely at the end. I enjoyed seeing how everyone’s relationships came together in the end, especially with Camille and her mom. Overall a good read.

I had to read it since it's a retelling of one of my favorite films, and it does not disappoint.
The characters, and there are many, are distinct and well done.
The relationships—between the brothers and between the brides and between the brother and the brides—are all well thought out and enjoyable to see develop.

This book was phenomenal! It was heartwarming, angsty, hilarious, fun and realistic. I think depression, OCD and anxiety were handled really well and as someone with depression I felt well represented. I think the general idea of not labeling and just figuring out what/who you like was done really well and felt lighthearted while also remaining a big deal. I loved this romance and would totally watch the show! The side characters were amazing and it read like a movie in my mind. Highly recommend!

This book to me was a modern day replica of the movie, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. There were a ton of similarities, and some differences. I noticed in reading that the characters felt a connections, but as a reader you didn't feel it. I think the author tried to bridge the gap with their backstory, but to me it felt forced. How did they not even know each others whole name? I noticed too that Aiden seemed absent for most of the book, he had no major part in it. I felt more of connection with some of the brothers, who did a better job being attentive to his wife.
I really wanted to like this book, but with the 'kidnapping' and silly pranks... it left me not sure how I felt about it.

This was a wonderful story - Anneka Walker juggled the seven romances well and created characters with emotional depth and distinct personalities!  A fresh take on a classic tale, I loved the humor and the honest bumbling that went on as the brothers and roommates connected.  This book has a wonderful underlying message of forgiveness and enduring love, between parents and children as well as friends, dating couples, and spouses.  I highly recommend this novel!

This is a fun take on Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. It took me a bit to get into it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it when I did. It made me smile and laugh. It has very real emotion: dejection, love, sadness and redemption.

This book is based on the story from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers with a modern twist. The eldest brother needs to get married to fulfill a promise made to his deceased parents. The heroine dreams of marrying and having a family. Both get swept up into a whirlwind romance. They marry quickly, and the bride learns she has 6 brothers-in-law that she now has to care for. The story is told from a religious stand point. The characters are fun. The relationships are sweet and wholesome.

If you enjoy hallmark- Christmas sort of vibes movies than this is the book for you. The trope where the best friends gets sent off for marriage and the MC doesn’t have a date for the wedding is the thing I LIVE for. Except this came with a twist. Not just a brother but BROTHERS. A full got packed story. Of course it didn’t beat the delightful comedic romance between aiden and Camille. A story worth hearing and laughing about!

I really was excited to read this book, and for the first quarter I truly enjoyed it. I loved how it was Christian, romantic, and kept me turning the pages. However, I didn’t love how many different relationships it focused on. I think it would have been nicer to just focus on the main character and love interest and then given each brother a book and a story — and not have each one in love with a friend. I’d love to learn about each one individually too and what makes them them. I think the book started out with showing the eldest brother and introduced us to his struggles and wants and needs, but then quickly deviated from it and we didn’t get to truly know all of him. I think his rush to get married could have been a good conflict for Camille and Aiden and her need to be perfect and control certain things. And his wanting to provide for her and getting caught up in money. There could have been a big fighting and trying time period that tested the relationship and prayer, God, and scripture could have really pushed them back together and teach them what real love is and how marriage isn’t just as easy as picking someone. It’s truly working through the tough stuff.

I also think the girls were in the wrong in many things, and the boys ended up caving. Don’t get me wrong, they weren’t perfect either, but I think there was a double-standard and I was often annoyed at the girls. Camille was playing match maker with her friends and then got mad at Aiden for basically doing the same?

It would have been different if this was just Camille’s character, but all the girls seemed to do this over and over again.

I think if each brother got his own book, then we would be able to explore and dive deeper into each story and get more intimate with each one. Not to mention, there would be more money to be made for multiple books. And we all love a good series about hot Christian men finding love and being vulnerable.

Overall I liked the beginning, loved the Christianity and it had GREAT potential. But it just fell flat and seemed very chaotic and crowded in the end.

Such a fun retelling of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers! I have loved that movie for years, but this was the first time I’ve had a chance to read a retelling. Overall, the story plot follows the movie pretty closely, but pays closer attention not only to Camille and Aidan’s romance but to that of several of Aidan’s brothers as well. I especially liked the romance between Daisha and Benson—I could go for a whole novel on those two! The story still keeps the fun mountain/small town feel of the movie (even the dance scene!), but is more contemporary. Overall, a sweet fun read! Perfect if you like Hallmark romances!

I didn’t realize going into it that it was a Christian book, so I might suggest adding that info somewhere.

This was a cute contemporary romance with nods to the Seven Brides for Seven Brothers story. The story was entertaining and light. There were however, times when I felt that particular parts of the story or circumstances did not translate well to a modern day setting. It was fun to be able to see the authors interpretation of this classic story in a contemporary romance and for the most part it was a lighthearted and fun read.

This is such a cute modern day retelling of Seven Bride for Seven Brothers. The little tweaks made to the story fit well with current society. I do wish there were a little bit more from Aiden's perspective, but overall, a sweet romance!

This was such a unique and cute story. Based on the movie, ‘7 Brides for 7 Brothers’, which I had never heard the story of before. But the concept, as outlines in the synopsis, sounded entertaining!

While the story and relationship moves fast, it was an easy book to just sit back and enjoy the banter with. It had some wonderful characters, all of which I loved! It was fun to see seven couples form out of their unique situation. It felt like I was getting more than one story.

This story definitely had a Hallmark feel to it. But with a little more problems arising. I would have liked to see the relationships handled perhaps a bit better. There seemed to be a few instances where some simple communication or even just being willing to listen to the other person could have solved a lot of problems. Which just seemed immature and very high school. But still entertaining!

If you’re looking for a quick, fun read, with a unique story, give this one a try!

This is a fluffy, light, contemporary retelling of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I love the play and wish I liked the story more. It starts off well with Camille Kelly meeting up with Aiden Peterson. After some quick dating two weeks later they are engaged. And the wedding is going to be just as quick. Unfortunately Aiden forgot to mention that his six adult brothers live with him in their family home. Camille decides the best way to get the brothers out of the house is to set them up with her college roommates and friends.

It all sounds good but the pesky details derail the storytelling. First, it is very hard to have any real character development with so many dating couples. I expect some character development in a book that might be missing in a play. The most I could tell you about some of the brothers is these two are twins, this one plays music, that one is in the military etc. And the girls I know even less about. Second, the lack of communication with the two main characters is cringe worthy and very immature. After the Thanksgiving fiasco none of the men apologizes for what occurs. Just because the girls made the best of a bad situation or still like them isn't the same as the gambit worked. And third, don't get me started on wanting to discuss family planning with Camille.

I would categorize this as a religious romance. The christian religion isn't named but is easily identified. There is lots of discussion of prayer, church service missions etc. And then with those positives a very negative comment occurs at the wedding by a member of the religion. It felt awkward, especially when no one refutes or challenges it. This is a clean romance and would be appropriate for high schoolers, new adults and up. I thought this story was a great attempt at modernizing the classic story. Unfortunately it didn't match my hopes. The characters were great and the story flowed well. I would definitely try another story from this author.

Okay, so I had really high hopes for this book even though we all know what the movie is like I was excited to read a more modern take on it.
Except this really wasn't all that modern of a take, so many of the original things were followed and with the book being incredibly short I feel like so many things were rushed or just glazed over that shouldn't have been. Yes, I know that the movie also moved incredibly fast when it came to relationships but I also feel like the movie was in a different time period and while religion was mentioned in the movie it wasn't as heavy as a focus as it was in this book. I'm not going to go on and on instead I'm going to mention a few things I liked and disliked about this book as well as who I think will enjoy this book more than I did.

What I Liked:
The personalities of the characters. So many of them were interesting and had great backstories that made it interesting.
The friendships and family bond. This one was really important for everyone involved and I loved how close the girls were with each other and how the brothers while not always getting along were still close.
The mention of farming and getting an education and how both were important to all of them.


What I disliked:
While the characters had interesting backstories we never fully got to learn them and instead it was just like oh yeah this person has this in their past and oops sorry didn't even tell my best friend. It was all just a little bit much when it came to some of the relationships.
I disliked the mention of how rushed marriages were just expected for all the brothers even though a lot of them were still in school and figuring out what they wanted to do. Not the time to be rushing into marriage with someone you just met!
The emotional manipulation that was happening in multiple of the relationships as well as suppressing feelings to please another. Not okay.

Now then who I think this book will be great for. I think for women looking for a 'clean' romance this will interest them.
