This is a gem. All of the recipes can be used to make Bento style meals, but I think it’s a great introduction into Asian cuisine. I don’t think I would ever make a bento box, but I will certainly be trying out many of the recipes at dinnertime.

Particularly, Honey Ginger beef, Pineapple Shrimp, and Mandarin Chicken.

Nice illustrations and detailed descriptions of preparations.

I have several bento boxes at home and have looked up numerous recipes and methods for packing a more traditional style Bento box, but I've always struggled to find a good resource that I can come back to again and again. This book is that resource. It provides tools, tips, and tricks for what you need to create healthy, delicious, Bento-box meals in an easy to understand and possible way.

I love this little cookbook for new ideas on how to prepare my lunch bento boxes. I cannot wait to share these recipes with family and friends. Really quick reads and recipes are not overly complicated. Thank you to NetGalley and DK and Alpha for a copy of this audiobook for an honest review.

Such a fun, bright, easy cookbook. Love that every bento has a main and side suggestion. The pics are beautiful (super important in a cookbook) my favorite feature is the storage life included with the recipes. I never know how long a leftover is good for and this takes the guess work out of it.

I own and have read a number of bento cookbooks. This one is nicely laid out, has diversity in recipes, and the photography is beautiful. It's easy to understand and follow so if you're looking for a bento cookbook this would be a fine choice.

This book is gorgeous and well laid out. I loved the look of it and enjoyed reading through the recipes. I disagree with the description of "quick and easy" as each box takes multiple steps and the ingredients are not found in all grocery stores. I also felt like some ingredients were used only once or twice very sparingly, which means having a lot of items leftover. I was hoping for something a little more accessible.

This is a cute recipe book!

The servings are a little small but are full of flavor and color! The book has pictures of each bento box, information on which order to fill the box in, and recipes for each box! There is a lot of pork and tofu recipes with the occasional other protein. Some of the recipes are more time intensive, but others are simple and easy to make!

The book is a helpful guide for anyone wanting to make bento boxes or an easy to eat lunch!

This book really exceeded all of my expectations. It went into great detail on how to pack a bento which, coincidentally, are the same proportions I like to use. She explains the different kinds of boxes as well. The recipes seem healthy and fairly easy and the photography is just beautiful. This is the only bento cookbook you need

I've been obsessed with Bento boxes ever since I first saw my first one. All the cute little foods and picks and colorful containers really appeal to me, and this book is a very grown up expression of the same. I loved the juxtaposition of more adult and traditional foods with the bright and colorful pages full of beautiful photography and fun fonts. I definitely see the Harissa chicken and spicy Korean slaw becoming favorites in our food rotation!!

This recipe book boasts 60 easy recipes (using standard ingredients, with the exception of Korean chili sauce and some mirin). These recipes are also all under 500 calories. Portions are small so it stands to reason that the calorie count is attractively low.

This book covers chicken (Teriyaki, Mandarin,, Tandoori), fish (honey glazed salmon and pineapple shrimp!), spicy pork and flavourful beef. Steamed or pickled vegetable and dumpling accompaniments are also provided, and I was surprised at how easy they were to prepare. There are even a few pages on how to prepare the several types of rice used in these bento box creations.

The illustrations of the dishes in this book were mouthwatering. I loved the interesting and colourful table cloth backgrounds. Everything was bright, vibrant and enticing.

I can foresee that this book will definitely get a fair amount of use in my galley kitchen! Highly recommended! My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

have been fascinated by the bento boxes I have seen, but they always seemed too intimidating to try. This book was made it seem simple to try, and the recipes look delicious.

Healthy Bento Meals under 500 calories for adults!

I absolutely loved this book. I am obsessed with making lunches for my son but always found it challenging to make bento for me - as I am harder to please than he is! To me, the best thing about bento lunches is the fact that they are inherently portion-controlled meals you eat with your eyes first!

Healthy, Quick & Easy Bento Box gave us amazing recipes with different flavour profiles that are easy to mix and match to get even more ideas! I appreciated that the recipes are easy to follow, use easy-to-find ingredients, and adaptable to fit different dietary needs. Not to mention stunning pictures.

I LOVED that the author took the time to explain the basics of Bento lunches, share a personal story, suggest serving temperature, and include handy tips.

I really enjoyed this cookbook. The pictures are beautiful, the book is well laid out with easy to understand instructions and easy to find ingredients.

A cool idea for a cookbook that requires a high degree of attention to detail and ultimately doesn’t live up to its name.

As a frequent consumer of Japanese and Chinese takeout, I was stoked when I got this cookbook ARC courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher. I was also a little skeptical because it claimed to be quick and easy which is all the way up my alley.

Let me start by saying the recipes I made were tasty, so there’s nothing inherently wrong with the recipes, the problem is that the book is titled quick and easy and it’s very much not.

To me quick and easy means a few things.

First, quick generally means I can get everything done in 30 min or so. Each individual component is relatively quick to make, but if you’re not pretty talented in the kitchen, it’s a lot to try and assemble the components all at once, so I had to rattle off several short recipes one after another which makes the overall process not quick in the slightest.

Second, easy to me means that I’ll be able to get the recipes completed by shopping at my local food lion, Walmart, or equivalent grocery store (not everyone has a Publix, Whole Foods, or Wegmans nearby). These recipes required very specific Asian ingredients that are not super common in the average cupboard. I had to travel to two grocery stores to get everything I needed which took away all the ease.

Lastly, easy also means, no advanced cooking techniques. For the most part, these were simpler recipes but some of them (such as poaching chicken) are not.

There was one other issue with this as well. This seems like a cookbook designed for the meal prepping crowd, but various components do NOT heat back up well (yes I eat Japanese leftovers for breakfast, and yes my wife has informed me how weird I am for it). That adds another level of difficulty. You’d have to take the bento box apart, reheat items separately, then reassemble the bento if you want that nice presentation.

Like I said, good food, so if you’re willing to put in the effort for that beautiful presentation, it would definitely be a good buy, but not if you’re looking for something quick and easy.

Beautiful presentation! So organized! I love that multiple styles of cooking/palettes are included, the nutrition information and serving information is all included. The recipes are unique and not overly complicated.

Bento boxes are long-held tradition in Asia, particularly Japan, but are a comparatively new phenomenon in the west. Using a small selection of a variety of foods, diners can enjoy an array of flavors and nutritional benefits that can be easily altered from week to week. This cookbook provides a range of ideas for entrees and side dishes, to accommodate a wide variety of tastes.

Like the other books in this series, the presentation is very appealing and fun, with beautiful photography and vivid colors. As far as quibbles go, I do wish their had been more vegetarian entree options, as they are heavily weighted towards meat and seafood (though it should be noted that the side dishes are very vegetable-forward). Fun book for a practical, flexible dining option that I hope takes off in the West.
