I'm so sad this one didn't turn out to be as good as I wanted it to be. Sophie Sullivan is a favorite of mine, especially with her first book, Ten Rules for Faking It. This one just fell flat for me. Hoping to read her most recent soon!!

Thank you SMP Romance and NetGalley for the eARC of How to Love Your Neighbor! All opinions in this review are my own.

The house next to Noah has been vacant since he moved in and he really wants to buy it in order to expand his backyard. When Grace finally moves in, Noah immediately offers to buy her house. Little does he know, this house was Grace's grandparents' and she can't wait to renovate it. In this close proximity, hate to love romance, Noah and Grace grow closer as they both deal with the problems of rennovation.

I have to admit Noah walked a very fine line for most of the book. I find that sometimes hate to love romances push so far into the hate territory to start that it is hard to recover from once the characters fall in love. Noah's tendency to solve his problems with money got old quickly, however, I was glad we also had his point of view. I think without hearing his side of the story, Noah would have come across as a much shallower character and it would have been hard to believe that he had genuine feels for Grace.

I love how the tension built throughout most of the book but both characters acknowledged that they wanted different things. I appreciate that Grace recognized Noah didn't want a relationship and wasn't trying to "fix" him until he was ready to truly be with her.

I liked Noah and Grace's romance but I'm really excited to go back and read Chris and Everly's romance in Ten Rules for Faking It!

Thank you to Netgalley & the publisher for providing me with an ARC!

This book was so cute and would be the perfect summer read. The character development, writing, & pacing was well done.

I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a cute romance book!

I can see the real appeal of “How to Love Your Neighbor” and why so many readers were drawn to it but it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.

For starters, the characters were a big no-no. Noah, the leading hero, whole personality was his wealth, making everyone say ‘Yes' to him, whiny and immature behavior. He also belittled the heroine on multiple occasions, and always ended up saying sorry with gifts whenever Grace catches onto his BS. And time and time again, she forgives him. There was nothing compelling about his character and I find it hard to believe Grace would fall for someone like him.

Aside from the characters, the enemies turned lovers were poorly executed by the author. I found it funny that throughout the book, a good amount of characters kept mentioning how much ‘chemistry’ Noah and Grace had. Insert confused Pikachu face. What chemistry?! There was none whatsoever. The chemistry, tension, build-up between the characters were non-existent. Everything about their relationship was so quick—from being enemies (eyeroll), flirty neighbors and then falling madly in love all in the first quarter of the book.

The dual perspective writing style wasn’t doing the book any favors either and it’s bluntly obvious the dialogue was poorly written. It just felt like I was reading fanfic off Wattpad or something. There was no substance to this complementary romance and was overall an uninteresting romance I didn’t care to finish.

A cute RomCom with the Grumpy vs Sunshine trope.

A few swoon moments and some cute banter.

Liked this one!

This book was just sadly not for me! I was hoping for something different but it turned out to be something I was not expecting, which is okay and I'm sure someone else would love it!

This is such a delightful romcom. It has a bit of an enemies to lovers vibe. The characters are charming and it’s a cute book.

I had ultimately decided not to read this title after seeing that, at the time, it had under 3 stars on Goodreads which is just massively low. The star rating has increased but my TBR is way too long to read something with such bad reviews.

How to Love Your Neighbor by Sophie Sullivan

What a cute romance novel that was written by someone who most certainly knows how to write a great book. This one is very captivating with one of my favorite characters from another book, Noah. Then she adds Grace who is an interior designer and the book becomes perfect. You will find that love is worth waiting for in this romance story of a lifetime.

5 out of 5 stars

Thank you to NetGalley as well as the author/publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my unbiased and honest review.

I want to read more books that make me laugh, and I'm happy to add HOW TO LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR to that growing list.

I was hooked by the cover alone - the crossed out Hate is that one simple thing that made me want to read this book. I just knew that it was going to be a lot of fun. HOW TO LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR is described as an enemies to lovers romantic comedy, but I think it's more like strangers to friends to lovers to friends to so much more. I loved Grace and Noah's game of getting to know each other.

HOW TO LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR was a fun take on Trading Spaces and House Swapping. It was a fun, feel good book about figuring out who is important to us in our lives and making time and space for those people.

"We need to stop trying to prove ourselves to people that aren't even paying attention."

From the acknowledgments:
"To all of the people whp are afraid to jump because the landing is uncertain; I hope you find the courage to take the leap. Even when the landing hurts a bit, it is so incredibly worth it."
I love this so much and it's why I always read the acknowledgments.

I love a good grumpy sunshine/enemies to lovers trope. I didn't know this was a book 2 in a connected series of standalones. Grace inherits her grandfathers home which happens to be next door to Noah's who is a real estate titan. One comes from money the other comes from nothing. Grace is fierce and feisty and I love that in a heroine, she doesn't need a man to help her. I love the that the characters were drawn out and that there was humor involved. Another great spring/summer romance.

Thank you to Netgalley, St. Martin's Press and the Author for providing a readers copy for review.

I, unfortunately, wasn’t a fan of this book. I don’t think I got more than a couple chapters in before I DNF’d it. It’s not that the book was bad, it’s just that the way the book was written… I wasn’t a fan of it. And I was incredibly bored. It just didn’t do anything for me unfortunately.

First, I was very excited to revisit the Jansen family. I loved Ten Rules for Faking It and was hoping this would be another hit for me. In many ways it was. I liked the enemies-to-lovers relationship with Grace and Noah. Unfortunately I liked them better, and was more entertained when they were fighting. The constant competitions between them, while fun at times, became repetitive. Noah is not as endearing as his brother Chris.

What does shine is Sullivan’s writing style. It is easy to enjoy and is written like a dialogue with friends. The complicated parental relationships are realistically written. I am excited to continue this series.

Noah and Grace are both trying to reach their goals in life. They both have their own life challenges and do they have the time to fit in their friendship/ potential love relationship. This is them navigating and trying to come together.
This had potential but it was typical and surface level. I need some real life stuff and this just couldn't deliver

How to Love Your Neighbor was exactly what I expected from a cute romcom. I enjoyed the 'reality TV' aspects and the challenges that Noah and Grace shared and the process getting them to their HEA. While good, I'm not invested enough in the characters or the side characters to feel the need to pick up the other books in the story.

I didn't know this was a second book when I got it, but you don't really miss out on anything. Chris and Everly from the first book are in this one a few times, so I may check out the 1st book if I come across it. This book was a light read with very little angst. Honestly, not much to it, but sometimes you just want a breezy read.

This was cute and I liked Grace's voice, but I just could not buy into their attraction with one another. I did enjoy the HGTV home renovation vibes so I am disappointed that I didn't like the couple enough.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the eArc in exchange for my honest review.

ARC for honest review with no compensation Received from NetGalley

How to Love Your Neighbor by Sophie Sullivan is a new to me author and someone I will read in the future.

A humorous, heart warming, enemies to lovers romance, HGTV possibilities, family issues and so much more..

This was such a cute romance! Girl next door with an annoying neighbor, who is, of course, super attractive. Oh, and he's a jerk! Or is he? The book might be a little too sticky sweet for some, but overall it was very enjoyable.
