This was a cute, fun Rom-com. We follow Grace and Noah; Grace is a student who is almost finished getting her degree in interior design who keeps her heart tightly guarded after a lifetime of being let down by her mother. Noah is trying to find his own way after leaving his fathers company when he realized his father was leaving behind everything his grandfather had built. Noah settles into this beach house on the west coast and is determined to buy the neighboring house so he can put in a pool. Grace has decided to finally move into the house her grandparent left her. They automatically get off on the wrong foot, when he does everything he can think of to get her to sell her new home to him. When an opportunity to further both of their goals lands at their feet, they must work together to remodel his new home, but the more they work together the more sparks fly.

This is a perfect example of an enemies to lovers trope. I loved it, the plot was interesting and the characters were so well done you’d want them living in your neighborhood.

Grace inherited her grandmothers house even though her estranged mother thinks it should have gone to her. She’s an interior design student and can’t wait to get going on fixing up the house.

Next door is Noah, a developer, who moved from NYC to build his business on the West Coast and get out from under his father’s thumb. He has plans for Grace’s house, he wants to tear it down and use the lot for his pool.

Of course, he made plans without meeting Grace first, who is adamantly not selling her house. There is no price that would convince her. Once they meet, they’re attracted to each other but can’t get past their differences. They start spending time together while Grace designs the interior of Noah’s house for a magazine photo spread and article, and in true enemies to lovers trope style, they get together.

I highly recommend this book, it’s well written and the characters are fun and quirky. I really enjoyed the interior design aspects of the book, very educational! 4 stars.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Enemies to Lovers are always my favorite tropes in books and while this one was cute it was just ok. This one follows Grace who inherits her grandparents house and her next door neighbor Noah. Grace is finishing up her last semester of design school and is ready to start her next chapter in life but her neighbor Noah is making that difficult. Noah is used to getting everything he wants and he wants the house next door but Grace will not sell it to him. What starts off as a contentious relationship ends up being a woking partnership. Noah lands a spread in a Home Decorating magazine highlighting the renovations on his new house and Grace ends up as his designer. I really enjoyed the decorating aspects of this book but felt more meh to the main characters. I grew up watching Trading Spaces on HGTV and Grace and Noah with the help of their friends decide to do this in the book and it was one of my favorite parts in the book. Overall it was cute and fun but maybe not very memorable for me. Thank you St. Martin's Press for my gifted copy for review.

While this book was a fun and cute story, it got kind of boring. It basically was the same for the entire book with a few small conflicts that resolved quickly. Sometimes it's nice to read a book that doesn't give any stress, but this is ⭐⭐⭐ for me. It is a closed door romance, so if that's what you're looking for this might be good for you.

Grace has inherited her grandparents house on the beach. Being a design major, she is excited about the opportunity to fix the house up exactly as she wants. But, her new neighbor, Noah, has other ideas. He wants to buy this little beach house next door. Grace has no intention of selling!

Now, I was not a huge fan of Noah. I found him a bit overbearing and just plain rude at times. But, I know this is his design flaw! He does get better as the novel rolls along. And I definitely loved Grace. She is a go getter and she does not like to lose! So, these two have some pretty good bickering sessions. And…this leads to better things…onward and upward!

Need a cute fixer upper…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today.

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

Ten Rules for Faking It was a 5 star read for me, so I had high hopes for this book. Unfortunately, I didn’t connect at all with the story. I kept waiting to have some interest in the characters or plot and by 40% it still hadn’t happened. I never found myself rooting for the MC or the LI, so I chose to DNF. Because I enjoyed Sophie’s first book so much, I would still read another book by her.
I did a mix of audio and ebook. The narrator did a good job with the cast of characters. I liked that Chris and Everly (from the first book) were included. Morty was a funny character who added some grumpy spunk. I wish I had enjoyed this book, but it just didn’t happen this time.

Thank you to SMP Romance for a digitial ARC and to Macmillan Audio for the audiobook. All thoughts expressed are my own honest opinions.

I really enjoyed this book. Yeah, it had a few cheesy parts but cheesy can be good. I loved the characters (well, except for Grace's mom) and the relationship between Grace and Noah. And I loved Grace's spunk! This is just the kind of book I needed to read right now...a charming, funny, romantic read. Loved it!

I gotta say, sunshine herione + grumpy hero = my catnip. I enjoyed this enemies-to-lovers romcom so much. It was fun and interesting and I absolutely fell in love with Grace and Noah. I didn't wanna put the book down....after all, who needs to eat or sleep?

Many thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.

I love romances. I especially the classic enemy to lovers and next door neighbor tropes. How to Love Your Neighbor has both of these plus an HGTV vibe that I can’t get enough of. There’s also just the right amount of steam to keep things interesting. I loved it!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Such a cute romance! I love rom coms and this did not disappoint! The writing was swoony and made my heart flutter. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes to read so this is another good one in that category. Read it!! You’ll love it!

This is the first book I've read by Sophie Sullivan. I've got to say I enjoyed it. The book is well-written. It's an engaging enemies to friends to lovers romance, with real feeling characters who have believable struggles. There is enough humour in the plot to be fun without begin trite. The story flows well as main characters find their way to true love. It's a light, all round enjoyable read.

This book was a very nice fluffy romance book! A sunshine meets grumpy trope that I seriously cannot get enough of! It is a heartwarming and humorous story that has nice developped characters.

Grace, a design student in her mid-twenties that is struggling to make her ends meet moves to her grandparents house - which she had just inherited. Problem is, her new (and very very handsome) neighbor wants to buy her house to extend his own property. Grace does not wish to sell her house, but her neighbor is determined to win.

As their feud continues, chemistry develops between the two. Can both parties stay professional or are spark flying a bit too high?

This book was an absolute pleasure to read. It has a lot of my favourite tropes in it. More than that, this book is not only a romance book, but it deals with very real issues that both characters have which elevates the plot and overall story of the book. Overall I would give this book 4/5 stars. Worth the read!

Special thanks to NetGalley for sharing this digital copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

What an absolutely wonder story! This is my first boo by Sophie Sullivan and I enjoyed every minute of it. Slow build romance, and it was done expertly. This ended perfectly and I'm hoping will be the start of a series, quite a few characters in this book need to have their stories told.

How to Love Your Neighbor - Sophie Sullivan

Fiction/Romance, 351 Pages

Grace Travis is an interior design student who recently inherited her grandparents' small house on the coast of southern California. As she wraps up her studies, Grace is excited to renovate the house and start her career. Her neighbor, Noah, however, has another idea: he wants to buy Grace's house. During the times that Grace and Noah spar they also get to know each other, participating in painting challenges in their respective homes and meeting each other's friends and family. Their hate, as is expected in the "enemies to lovers" romance trope, quickly develops into a relationship at the same time that a home design magazine decides to run a feature on Noah's house renovations and encourages Noah to pick Grace as the interior designer in order to pad the story-line. How to Love Your Neighbor is a fun rom com, but not one with much substance. The characters were endearing, but I found the first half of the book a bit repetitive and boring. It also felt like everything in the book happened too quickly - from the speed of the completion of the renovations to the intensity reached by multiple relationships in such a short span of time. Overall, this book was light and enjoyable but maybe not the best in its genre.

Rating: 6/10

I just finished a book that combines two things I love to read about and/or watch: home renovations and romance. If you’re a fan of next door neighbor and/or rivals-to-lovers romances, How to Love Your Neighbor by Sophie Sullivan is the perfect lighthearted read to add to your TBR list!

The story follows two neighbors, Grace and Noah, who become enemies while renovating their beachfront properties, only to find themselves working together on a significant career opportunity. What starts as a mission for Noah to buy Grace’s house turns into a challenge for Grace to transform Noah’s house one room at a time. Sparks fly as they work together, navigating the line between business and pleasure, with plenty of bickering and flirty banter along the way.

With a narrative that’s fun, humorous, and light on angst, a closed door romance that’s sweet and swoon-worthy, and characters that are charming, eclectic, and endearing, How to Love Your Neighbor is a quick, entertaining read. I devoured the audiobook over the weekend, enjoying the bubbly, upbeat narration of Chloe Dolandis. This is my first book by Sophie Sullivan but it definitely won’t be my last!

A very cute book with a great concept. It didn’t really pull me in like I had hoped but I’d definitely read more books by this author. I love a good enemies to lovers and even more a close
/forced proximity romance.

Grace Travis has recently inherited a little house on Harlow Beach, California from her grandparents. She will soon graduate from Design School and cannot wait to move into the house. She has been renting a room from an older man named Morty while also helping him as he’s had problems with his hip. To support herself, Grace works in a coffee shop and walks dogs, plus any other thing she can do to make a little money.

When she moves into her house, Grace meets her next door neighbor Noah Jansen. He immediately tells her he wants to buy her house. Noah is from a very wealthy family and he enjoys buying properties, some of which he later sells. He wants her house to expand the yard of his property to include a pool. She refuses.

They continue to encounter one another in their yards with little complaints from Noah saying Grace needs to help him repair and paint his fence. This is when their back and forth begins. They are attracted to one another but don’t know how to get along.

And this is when this book started to lose me. I had read so much hype about this book and couldn’t wait to read it. The more I read the more I was disappointed. So many scenes between Noah and Grace were juvenile and the entire book was vanilla and literally boring. I liked Morty because he was such a sweet man who truly cared about Grace’s welfare. I feel bad leaving a bad review because I love St. Martin’s Press and their books are always so good.

Copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

How to Love Your Neighbor is a sweet and fun enemies to lovers romcom but make it DIY. Grace Travis is an interior design student who just inherited her grandparents house and make it her own. Grace didn’t have a great relationship with her mother growing up and because of that she never really had a place to call home… until now. With everything starting to work in her favor (school, jobs, house) she’s content until her new neighbor Noah Jensen tries to buy her new home. Noah is trying to prove to himself and those around him that he’s not the playboy he seems. He’s left behind everything he knows in his old life (minus his brothers) and found a place to call home in sunny California… but wasn’t expecting Grace. They make a deal and so the show begins.

I really enjoyed the character building in this book. The way the relationship between Noah and Grace grows naturally throughout the book is perfection. Sometimes with enemies to lovers its like no, no, no, no, bam… I love them but with Grace and Noah its more like, nope, meh, maybe not so bad, ok ok I get see you, love.

Did I like this book? yes.
Did I read the first book? I did not and I wasn’t lost. It’s a standalone in a series which I love.
Will I read the next book? maybe. Probably eventually.
Will I recommend this book/series? Absolutely
stars? the first part hooked me but after about half way it took me another month to read so 3.5 but I'll round up for the cute cover and give it 4
