Cute and easy read with an enemies to lovers storyline. Overall I enjoyed it but it wasn’t a standout for me among other romances books I’ve read this year.

I enjoyed this book so much more than I thought I would.

It’s the love story of Grace and Noah. Grace, an interior designer, inherited her grandparent’s fixer-upper house on the beach, and Noah is her real estate developer neighbor who wants to buy her house so he can improve his property. Grace and Noah are in a feud fixing up their properties when they finally decide to throw in the towel and decide to help each other out.

This is a enemies to lovers book filled with DIY, home renovation/HGTV vibes. Once Grace and Noah stopped bickering, they had the sweetest relationship. I really loved the design backdrop of the storyline and it was fun seeing both their houses improve and their relationship develop through the process. There was also fun scene dealing with paint. It was a charming read!

A huge thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an advaned copy in exchange for an advance copy.

This story was so cute. I love a good enemies to lover trope and that’s what this was. It reminded me of Tools of Engagement with less heat. This was cute read that I read during a whole weekend. Highly recommend for those who are seeing a cute weekend read or quick beach read.

If you like HGTV or home renos and the enemies to lovers trope, this is a must-read for you!

Grace Travis is an interior design student finishing up school, while working as a barista, dog walker, and anything else she can do to get her degree and dream job. Enter, Noah Jansen, a real estate developer who is used to getting whatever he wants by throwing money at it. When Grace inherits her grandparent’s home, she’s unaware that she’s also going to inherit Noah, who wants to buy the property to expand his own. Not very neighbourly of him..

I enjoyed this book, it was a like an afternoon tea, cosy and much-needed! It was sweet with a little sap, and it was a fun read. While I didn’t realise that this is a somewhat series, I’d love to go back and read Ten Rules for Faking It, but reading that first does not matter as this is a great standalone novel.

I love a grumpy Hero. This was such a cute story. I loved it! Can’t believe I forgot to post my review but I read this in one day. Can’t wait to read more from this author! Definitely worth picking up.

eBook provided for free from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I can't believe I forget to review this book until now! "How To Love Your Neighbor" by Sophie Sullivan was a great follow-up to Sullivan's "Ten Rules For Faking It", which I was also fortunate to read early thanks to Net Galley + the publisher).

Home reno rom coms, like "How To Love Your Neighbor" seem to be having their moment as I've read a number of them in recent years. But I'm a sucker for HGTV, so you won't hear me complaining. If you like enemies to lovers, fun best friends, and dogs, then you're going to love reading this book. It's a light fun romp that you can tear through in a single weekend.

Such a cute book. Even as I was sure how it would end, it was very entertaining getting to that point. I loved the little side dramas with their parents and the relationships , friends and family.

"Sophie Sullivan’s writing feels like a warm hug.” —Rachel Lynn Solomon, bestselling author of The Ex Talk

Enemies-to-lovers meets HGTV in this frothy, effervescent romantic comedy from Sophie Sullivan, author of Ten Rules for Faking It.

Interior Design School? Check. Cute house to fix up? Check.

Sexy, grumpy neighbor who is going to get in the way of your plans? Check. Unfortunately.

Grace Travis has it all figured out. In between finishing school and working a million odd jobs, she’ll get her degree and her dream job. Most importantly, she’ll have a place to belong, something her harsh mother could never make. When an opportunity to fix up—and live in—a little house on the beach comes along, Grace is all in. Until her biggest roadblock moves in next door.

Noah Jansen knows how to make a deal. As a real estate developer, he knows when he's found something special. Something he could even call home. Provided he can expand by taking over the house next door--the house with the combative and beautiful woman living in it.

With the rules for being neighborly going out the window, Grace and Noah are in an all-out feud. But sometimes, your nemesis can show you that home is always where the heart is.

An inoffensive little story set in the very popular home renovation world. The mains were likable, the drama was not too dramatic, the romance low-heat.

I didn't really feel the sparks though despite the stakes suggesting that these two had all the ingredients to rub each other the wrong way...all the way to happily ever after. It just didn't click for me.

Thank you to NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are my own.

Grace Travis is finishing interior design school when she gets the news that she’s inherited a small, rundown, beach cottage from her maternal grandparents. Determined to make it her home, she moves in and plans her renovations. Everything is perfect until she meets her grumpy, handsome, next door neighbor, real estate developer, Noah Jansen. He offers to buy her house so he can expand his mini mansion onto her property. Grace doesn’t want to sell or move, however, with just getting started in her career, can she afford to renovate her place? When Noah approaches her with a job opportunity, with the only catch that she’d had to work side by side with him, she can make her dreams a reality. But what if she just can’t get along with him to get the job done?

How to Love Your Neighbor is listed as a rom-com, which it is, but I feel like it’s more chick lit or women’s fiction. Grace had a complete learning and growing arc, as does her neighbor, Noah. I loved their sweet, sexy chemistry and witty banter. The cast of other characters, some we met in her previous book, Ten Rules For Faking It, are funny, smart and endearing. Great overall read!

This was kind of a sweet story.

Grace grew up in a trailer. Her mother was selfish and uncaring and Grace dreamed of leaving and establishing herself as an interior designer. Between school and multiple jobs she has no time for romance. She never knew her grandparents but when they died they left her their home near a beach in California. Enter the rich guy next door who wants to buy her house so he can have a pool but Grace wants to make a home more. This is the hate-to-lovers trope but I never felt there was hate but more a conflict of two people who had way different upbringings. Noah is the brother of Chris who was introduced to us in a previous book so it was fun to see more of the interactions with the brothers. I liked Grace with her drive and determination and all the ideas she had for the designs of the homes. The middle seemed to lag a little bit but I did like the final conflict with Grace's mother, Tammy. She was horrid.

I would like to thank Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for providing my copy of this book.

I love a good grumpy sunshine trope! After 10 Rules for Faking it I don’t think Sophie could write something I would enjoy as much, but here we are. Maybe I find Grace so endearing because I too am a huge klutz that would fall head over heel… literally… in front of that hot guy on the beach.
I liked the other relationships in this book as well and how it wasn’t just a straight shot to them being in love.
This was such a cute, fun read. I can’t wait to see what Sophie writes next. I’m hooked on her books now.

How to Love Your Neighbor by Sophie Sullivan is a delightful new romantic comedy. Grace Travis, focused and determined to carve a place for herself in the home design industry, does not intend to be sidetracked by romantic entanglements. Little could Grace predict that when she inherited her grandparents timeworn beach house that her infuriating new neighbor Noah Jansen, a real estate developer, would rock her world. Sparks definitely fly as Grace and Noah go toe-to-toe, neither willing to bend or to see what is right in front of them.

Romantic comedy is not my usual genre but I could not put this book down. I loved Grace’s sassiness and determination, as well as Noah’s strength and vulnerability. In a story that could so easily be formulaic and mundane, this book kept me reading and made me laugh out loud. All of the characters were realistic, relatable and most were charismatic as well. By the time the book ended, it seemed as though they were all my friends. I hope that Sophie Sullivan won’t make us wait very long for her next book! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy and all opinions are my own.)

The book had an intriguing premise and a promising start. The characters had some good potential for development. The writing was pleasant and easy to follow and the plot was well-paced. Overall, it's a sweet romantic fiction that will make you feel all sorts of feelings as you embark on the journey of following the characters as they fall in love.

A cute, fun read. I loved the interior designer angle, I thought that was fun. The chemistry between the characters was great!

While the love story was cute about neighbors going from enemies to lovers I did not enjoy the trope of the rich man playing basketball at a community center in order to show empathy and compassion as well as character growth. It felt kind of icky in the current climate.

It was just ok for me. I liked the relationship but it seemed a little too forced for me, and the it just all the sudden changed. It was cute but not something I would really recommend to others.

I received an ARC from Netgalley for an author totally new to me. This isn’t her first book, but it is mine. It’s a standalone which doesn’t require reading other books in the series, but I’m sure they will be fun to read also.

Grace is really the star of this story, but Noah makes for a great co-hero. Grace is estranged from her mother, a self-serving, narcissistic manipulator. She grew up in a series of trailers with no one to rely upon but herself. Her journey involves learning that she can rely upon other people.

Noah is estranged from his father, a self-serving, narcissistic manipulator, but he comes from a very different background. For one thing, he has close relationships with his mother (divorced), his two brothers, and his sister. He already knows he can call on others for help. What he doesn’t know yet is that his belief that he is incapable of making commitments is due to never meeting the right person. Grace is the right person.

They initially find a myriad of things about which they can argue. Grace inherited a small house on the beach from grandparents she never got to know. Noah recently purchased the larger house next door. Things get off to a rocky start when he assumes she will sell her property to him because he is offering her more than the appraised value. But there are more important things than money to Grace and when Noah boasts of his success in business, Grace responds, “Everyone has a different definition of success.”

The attraction between them is palpable from their first interaction and it only builds the more they get to know one another. Naturally, they fall in love, and each learns to deal with their troublesome parent with the emotional support of the other. Both realize that there’s a difference between a house and a home and both find the home they’ve been looking for. There’s nothing earth-shattering about it, but it’s a fun, engaging story. Although it wouldn’t make it to the list of favorite stories, it would make the list of stories I enjoyed and would be willing to read again.
