Thanks to Netgalley for sending me the ARC! I wanted to like it but it was sooooo slow! I DNF about halfway through. I rate it a 1.6

The fourth book in the Kate Fox series, set in the sandhills of Nebraska, is another good mystery with memorable characters and a great locale. It is always nice when a series continues to enthrall and doesn't get old.

This newest book in the Kate Fox series is another pulse-pounding read. As the Sheriff, Kate has earned the trust of many people but not all of her colleagues. Now that her ex-husband has stepped in as the Sheriff of a neighboring county, she feels even more pressure to prove herself. When a recent murder seems linked to her younger brother, Kate will go to any lengths to prove his innocence, even if she must step on some toes. As she tracks down leads and pressures her ex to do his job better, Kate also feels the pressure to start dating, which is perhaps a more difficult challenge than solving crimes. It's an exciting plot with humor and love sprinkled in to keep you going. I can't wait to see what happens next for Kate.

This fourth in the Kate Fox series finds Kate working on a case that involves her brother Jeremy. A dead body is found in Jeremy's truck and he has gone missing.
Kate's ex-husband, Ted, is the sheriff in the county where the crime occurred. Of course that does not stop Kate from investigating and proving that she is the better sheriff.

The story moves along quickly. I recommend reading from the beginning of the series, but you will be able to read this as a stand alone. Characters are well developed and there are some twists until we reach the conclusion. I look forward to more Kate Fox.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC. The review is my own.

Every Kate Fox book that I have read gets even better. This is my favorite so far. They also seem to get a little darker which I like. It reminds me of when Jeff Abbott started the Jordan Poteet series about this quaint small town librarian and then wow.

No synopisis, you can go to Amazon for that.

The mystery itself is good, but that's about the only thing I liked. This far along in the series I would expect Kate to be further over Ted. Not to mention the Ted and Roxy show is getting old. Especially the way they are always welcomed with open arms. The only thing related to Ted that I enjoy is the way Kate shows how inept he is. My biggest problem with this story was the bigotry and racism of too many townsfolk.
I have enjoyed the previous books in this series. The mysteries are always fast paced and keep me guessing. I just couldn't get into the groove with this one. Too many things annoyed me. I read the blurb for the next book and I will give it a try because I am really hoping for some resolution.

Great installment in the Kate Fox series. She is still working on proving herself as a better sheriff than he ex, and succeeding as most people prefer talking to her and know that she gets to the bottom of things.
A dead body found in her brother Jeremy’s truck brings things a little to close to home, will she be able to bail him out like she did when he was little. She is also still looking for her niece, will she get closer, and how is Josh fitting into her life?
Page turner from page one, looking forward to more of Kate Fox’s cases.
Thank you to NetGalley and Severn River Publishing for a chance to read this book early in exchange for my opinion.

A MUST for your TBR list! Fast-paced! Riveting! Exciting! Addictive! Not only is this a very well-written book with wonderfully-interesting characters, but the suspense builds at just the right pace as the story unfolds. It was an artful melding of twisted psychological thrills and nail-biting suspense that kept me on edge the whole way!

*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.

This book was a decent read but just ok for me?! For some reason it just didn't hold my attention?! It had intrigue, suspense, action, but the storyline just didn't grab my attention. Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
