A very gripping book with twists and turns at every point. Some difficult subjects covered so maybe not for everyone. Well written characters recommend

I did not realise that there would be so many deep issues to contend with when I started this book. It is not something I would usually read and parts were quite upsetting. It is definitely thought provoking and overall quite interesting.

I enjoyed the first part of this book far more than the last bit.
Getting to know the characters,their grief and how things happened.
The second half,I just felt like everything was being thrown at me in an attempt to shock.
It's quite grim reading at times.
At one point I did wonder if the pier or Australia were ever showing up.

The Woman on the Pier by B P Walter is a multi faceted book with a storyline that tackles many different issues.
When two people meet on a pier, only one person leaves alive. There are many deaths in this book, there are terrorist attacks that leave many people dead and injured. One of them is a teenage girl who’s at Stratford to meet a friend for the first time. Her parents believe she is at Somerset staying with a girlfriend. The storyline tackles grief, marriage, infidelity, sexual abuse and relationships. This isn’t an easy book to read because of the wide ranging issues it attempts to tackle.

One of my favourite books of the year so far! From the very first page you are gripped. As in you will not be able to put it down at all . This book has many twists & turns, excellent characters & brilliant storyline.. You end up really caring about my characters especially Caroline .This book would make a great TV series & is absolutely brilliant

The Woman on the Pier by B.P. Walter, published by Harper Collins UK/ One More Chapter, is a heartwrenchingly, fast paced, complex read. Excellent written kept me the story in suspense from the start til the last page.
A mystery/thriller of its finest, I read the book, cover to cover, in one sitting. I recommend the book, 5 stars.

Having only recently read The Dinner Guest, I was looking forward to the authors next release. It goes without saying that this book deals with some incredibly tough topics which I think are handled really well. The characters are a mixed bunch of flawed individuals and the protagonist Caroline is fairly likeable. There were a few neat twists although nothing that wowed me but the plot kept me interested throughout. I do think there was a lot that needed to be expanded on, especially towards the end, as a lot felt unfinished to me. I also think it would have been beneficial to know more about Caroline's background with her parents in Australia as this really was only touched on and far too late in the book in my eyes. Similarly, the epilogue wasn't satisfying to me because of how it was left - I think there was a better point the story could have ended on. So while I enjoyed The Woman on the Pier, I personally needed more substance for the book to leave a lasting impression.

Having recently read the Dinner Guest I was excited and enthused to read this new novel. The first quarter was enthralling and I was totally engaged with Caroline and Alex, parents to Jessica, murdered in an terrorist arrack in a London station. Caroline and her husband are estranged in their grief, both suffering in their own way and reading their dialogue is excruciatingly painful and powerful. Caroline was not expecting Jessica to be at that station that day and senses that if she can figure out why, her closure and grief might be helped by revenge. The second quarter has Caroline tracking a young man who was communicating with Jessica. The third quarter has Caroline, an intelligent professional woman coming completely undone in often over the top scenarios which detracted from my first half joy. The last quarter is devastating, revealing and tragic. The title is misleading, the meeting is only a couple of pages and is not the most relevant part of the book. The relevance is mothers and daughters, grief and grace, revenge and rage, tragedy and terrorism.

I am a huge fan of this author already and his debut was amazing but this is next level!!!!! I could not put this brilliant book down

A gripping read that will have you hooked as you read chapter after chapter. A mother grieving the loss of her daughter, and all the turmoil that comes with that. There are many twists and turns, and this novel is full of revenge and heartbreak, you will be hooked on this book.

The Woman on the Pier is an amazing thriller read!
I loved everything about this book. The character portrayal and the suspense.
Walter has done an excellent job in keeping us readers hooked on to the story till the end.
This is very well written and has a twisty plot which flows extremely well and with surprises you don’t see coming. The plotting feels like a coiled spring, it’s taut and tense with ripples of unease, a sense of impending danger and you wonder when all the turbulence and altered dynamics will unfurl.

Caroline is a grieving mother. Her daughter, Jessica, was killed in a shocking terrorist attack. Three months later, she still doesn’t understand why Jessica wasn’t where she said she was going to be that fateful day.

Caroline eventually decides to go through her daughter’s phone, and finds what she’s been looking for. Jessica was supposed to meet a boy she had been talking to online that day. He never showed up. Jessica believes he’s the reason her daughter is dead. A bit unhinged, she determines she’s going to make him pay.

...But nothing is ever as it seems.

The synopsis and title of this book are a bit misleading, considering the scene at the pier takes up all of maybe 2 pages. The book is about so much more than that. It’s a tale of revenge, mental health, fighting personal demons from the past, and grief.

There are many triggers, but I will refrain from discussing them as they could be construed as spoilers.

It took me a while to warm up to this one, but I did manage to find most of it gripping and compulsively readable. There are some very dark and disturbing themes that are difficult to read. However, I also found a lot of the plot melodramatic. Certain situations were OTT, and the characters were mostly despicable (not in a fun way).

While the revelations are interesting, none of them blew me away quite like I expected. And yet, I suspect this book will stay on my mind for some time.

When I see B. P. Walters’ name on the cover, I didn’t read the blurb or I didn’t care what this book was about, I just went blind!

That’s the rightest thing to do! Because in my opinion the blurb not truly summarizes the story, actually it gives a major spoiler about it! Normally the plot summary informs us where the story starts but for the Pier, its blurb gives away the opposite!
So you’d better not read the blurb and dive into this story directly! Be hundred percent sure to be hooked up at first chapter! It’s absolutely intriguing and picking your interest after reading the first pages. You’re literally drawn into the characters and you don’t want to put it downN

This book is not about a woman who avenges her daughter’s killer by confronting at the pier!
This book is about pure, earth shattering, heart ripping, painful, intense grief and disturbing, fist clenching, rough, heart wrenching abuse !

A shortest summary: THE MOTHER loses her child at the Stratford terrorist attacks. Her daughter shouldn’t have been there if she hasn’t lied to her parents to meet with THE BOY! It’s more a psychological and domestic thriller with triggering subject such self inflicted pain, psychical and verbal abuse, cheating, addiction, domestic violence!

B. P. Walters rocked my entire world one more time! I’m rounding up 4.5 stars to 5 heartbreaking, tearful, sad, grim stars!
I cannot wait to read anything he writes in near future !

Wow what a riveting read. I was hooked right from the beginning. Some horrifying subject matter but so well written and very unpredictable. I gasped reading the last few chapters. Loved it.

This is such a good book, the settings are great, the characters are good and the story is good, it is full of suspense, twists and unpredictability as well as a dark undercurrent running through it. Such a good read

A sad disturbing tale, compassionately written, dealing with the grief of parents, whose daughter has been murdered in a terrorist attack. I like the real life references to book titles.
Thank goodness the story is based on imagination rather than factual, but I found it very sad to read of a terrorist attack on an area I know so well.
Nevertheless, cleverly plotted and had me gripped. Its five star.

I just flew through this in a few hrs! It's an amazing book and will have you glued to the pages. The twists and turns are impossible to have predicted and you find yourself having to pick your jaw up off the floor more than once..... in saying that..... this isn't some light hearted revenge tail or a horror or a thriller that might make you a bit uneasy because if the 1 in a billion chance that your neighbour may be a serial killer stalker....... this is a really tragic book and to be honest, the hits just keep on coming. It touches on very real, very painful subjects that could trigger a lot of people. And it seems to have all the tragedies thrown in there!! Because it is so well written, and because its so relevant with the terror attacks in London then its also highly relatable and possibly a bit too realistic for comfort. If you like twists and relatable thrillers then yeah, this may be the one for you. But be warned, it's not just terrorism, its the London bombings/ stabbings to a tee, its child trafficking by the rich and famous, children being molested and raped, self harm, parental neglect, murder, the murder of a daughter, the need for revenge, incest..... you need a strong stomach to get through this because a large portion of this book is heavily based on real events that we recently lived through and it really does bring to light the tragic effects these events can cause the victims and how things can spiral. To be honest, I just feel really sad after reading it

As a die-hard B P Walter fan I expected to love this book but I LOOOOVED it.

So twisty, turny and delicious, I was riveted as I raced to the end, even as I regretted that it would end. I read it in one day, I just couldn't put it down.

Wow! This book left me speechless by the very end. The second half of the book sucked me in, I stayed up past 1am to finish, then the end kept me awake. My brain could not stop spinning! Wow B.P. Walter, you really dropped some plot twists up until the very end! Caroline, our main character recently lost her daughter in a terrorist attack and she can't understand why her daughter Jessica was even there. She obsessively digs and finds a boy her daughter was interacting with. She leaves her home after another terrorist attack occurs to track down this boy who she believes is the reason her daughter is dead. Though we learn, things are not always as they appear, in more ways than one!

I haven't been able to stop thinking about this book since I put it down and it will take me some time to process just what impact this story will have on me

The synopsis for this book sets out a tale of revenge. A grieving mother who cannot come to terms with the fact her daughter was murdered in a terrorist attack and seeks revenge for her death.

The terrorists were killed at the scene at the time of the attack however Caroline discovers her daughter, Jessica, was only at the scene of the attack to meet a boy who did not show up for their date.

Caroline then focuses her attention on this young boy, blaming him for Jessica being in that area, with tragic and devastating consequences for all involved.

Whilst this gives the impression of a thrilling, revenge-seeking novel (and it is), this book is far more than that. Whilst the need to avoid spoilers prevents me from discussing too much the stories of the children in this novel are heart-breaking and give the novel a depth that you do not normally see in these types of books.

This is my second novel by this author and I genuinely hope this catapults B P Walter to where he belongs - in the homes of every reader!
