This was SUCH a fun read! I liked the parallel storylines of the therapist's personal life alongside her clients' personal lives, so we have two stories happening at once. The twist was wonderfully written and totally surprising - I thought I had everything figured out, but Hendricks and Pekkanen planted the perfect red herrings to convince me I knew what was going on.

If you're looking for a quick thriller that will raise your heart rate and that you won't be able to put down, this is a great pick!

This book is crazy town and I loved every minute of it. The former therapist who steps way over the line, side characters who have ulterior motives (or do they)? and an awesome rescue dog named Romeo. Hendricks and Pekkanen have knocked another one out of the park.

This is your typical psychological thriller. It was still entertaining enough but I felt that there were too many threads and they didn't get tied together successfully.

Well written as I always like reading novels by Hendricks. It was lacking substance in places and I did not enjoy the ending. I rated it 3 out of 5 stars on Goodreads.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and these authors will continue to be an auto read for me. Great story and it kept me guessing!

The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

330 Pages
Publisher: St. Martin’s Press
Release Date: March 8, 2022

Fiction (Adult), Adultery, Murder, Mystery, Suspense, Thriller

Avery was a therapist but because a woman complained about her unorthodox methods, she lost her license. She continues counseling people using her ten-step method. Marissa and Matthew Bishop seem like the perfect couple. He is a lawyer, and she owns a interior design furnishings store. When Marissa has a one-night fling, she knows her marriage needs help. She and Matthew begin working with Avery through her ten steps.

The book has a fast pace, the characters are well developed, and it is written in the third person point of view from two different perspectives. This book had me all over the place. I had no idea who did it until the end. Avery has a very strong personality, and the reader sees growth in Marissa’s character as she accepts the consequences of her actions. If you like books with strong women characters, you will enjoy reading this one.

The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen is a terrific novel with such a great plot that it will be a novel that you will not be able to put down! The character development is excellent. It is told through the eyes of the main characters with each one getting various chapters in the novel. The insights of each character make the novel complex with many twists and turns. I would highly recommend reading The Golden Couple! Thank you to NetGalley, St.Martin’s Press, Greer Hendricks, and Sarah Pekkanen for allowing me to read this novel in exchange for a fair and honest review. Reading novels such as this one is one of the reasons why reading is so enjoyable .

This book is GREAT!!! Can I say it any louder?? Love the twists, turns, spins, suspense, and the subtle build of the storyline.

I absolutely loved the therapist, and the therapy itself, and I would ready any books that had this main character in it. Totally better then I ever expected, and will always look forward for more from Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen.

They were known as the "golden couple." Perfect jobs, perfect marriage, perfect house, perfect son. But not everything is as it seems from the outside. This couple is in counseling...with a therapist who is no longer licensed... to fix their marriage. Everyone in this novel is connected. None of them are who they seem. They all have secrets. Up until the very end, you will wonder who is good and who is bad.

I really enjoyed this one. Suspenseful and quick read!

This dynamic duo did it again! Another suspenseful cat and mouse game that kept me turning pages quicker than I could keep up with! I love how these authors create such perfectly deceptive storylines with characters that you will hate to love and love to hate. It was a very entertaining read and I already can’t wait to read what they come out with next !

The Golden Couple
Holy Crap! I mean what other words do I have after pulling an all-night-read-a-thon? I didn’t see it coming, but this is most definitely a Golden novel. I could summarize the story, but why would I when the publisher’s worked for hard on the dust jacket synopsis? Here I’ll give you my list of highly addicting and compulsively readable parts:
- [ ] Each chapter alternates perspective between the Avery (non-therapist) and Marissa (wife) which gives us glimpses of what is happening in the lives of the characters, but who is to be trusted? Whose perspective is real? Whose perspective is posed?
- [ ] Wonderfully flawed human characters whom offer moments of genuine realizations. This captivated me as a reader and I had to know what these human characters will choose to do with knowledge because, after all, all knowledge comes with a choice.
- [ ] Short chapters that had this reader CONSTANTLY self-narrating “I’ll stop after the next chapter.” It was truly addictive and I was continuously wondering when I’d be able to pick it back up and jump back in!

I am embarrassed to admit that this is my first title that I’ve read by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen but it WILL. NOT. BE. THE. LAST. I want to thank NetGalley for this ARC and am deeply excited to this title is already in print (as of March 2022) so everyone reading this review can run to get their eyeballs and minds into this sinfully messy novel.

Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen deliver another fabulously tense domestic thriller with THE GOLDEN COUPLE. They consistently bring their characters to life as they throw twists and turns into the narrative. What a read!

This was such a good, twisty thriller! I loved all the drama and was so anxious to find out what happened next. At one point I was cautious of everyone!

The "golden couple" Marissa and Matthew hire a therapist, Avery, who has recently lost her license, to save their marriage. Marissa has recently admitted to an affair and this is the story of how Avery is trying to help the couple through the cheating scandal. But there is more than meets the eye in this thriller and there are lots of twists and turns throughout!

I was intrigued by all the characters and really enjoyed this one! I don't know why I waited so long to pick it up because it was such a good read.

*Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an advanced copy. Opinions are my own.

I love a good thriller, but I often find them to be forgettable - even the good ones! It’s surprising for me to keep thinking about one after I finish it but The Golden Couple is the rare exception to that! The pace was quick, the characters were engaging, and the tension was real!! I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up rereading this one sometime - I enjoyed it that much!!

Sarah and Greer have done it again! I loved that this book was set in DC, rather close to where I live. They write the best psychological thrillers that are suspenseful but not scary. I love the dual story line. I held my breath as I read the second half of the book trying to figure out what was going to happen. Excellent page turner!

This writing duo is honestly as near to perfect as is possible.

Keep writing stories. I'll keep reading and reviewing them. Love the fucked up therapists.

I read this book back in May and forgot to write a review. I must have enjoyed it at the time since I gave it four stars, but going back and reading the synopsis is not making any bells ring about why I liked it so much.

More twists and turns than you can imagine. One of the best psychological thrillers that I have read. More please.
