This was a 3 1/2 star for me. I have read all the books now from this author duo. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them a great amount. Greer and Sarah are so good at writing seamless, intriguing stories. I can't wait to read what is next.

The dynamic writing duo of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen has struck gold with The Golden Couple. I loved their thriller An Anonymous Girl and was pleased to be offered the opportunity to read and review their latest–considered one of the must-read books of 2022.
The Golden Couple is a compelling suspense novel that’s hard to put down. I especially enjoyed the duel points of view of psychological consultant Avery Chambers and her client Marissa Bishop as they narrate their intersecting stories in alternate chapters. Though told from different perspectives, a single story forms. I really liked both characters and rooted for them throughout the book. There’s an abundance of red herrings to keep us guessing, but all the plot points are threaded by the end of the story. A satisfying read. *NetGalley Top Reviewer*
Many thanks to NetGalley and St Martin's Press for providing an ARC of the story to read and review. This review will be posted to the Bayside Book Reviews website and Instagram page on release day. https://BaysideBookReviews.com

Hendricks and Pekkanen have established themselves as heavyweights in this genre, so anything they release is instantly moved to the top of my TBR pile. This latest effort feels more slapdash than some of their previous books, and I do wonder whether their prolific output is at too quick a tempo for them to really hunker down and perfect each book before its release. There's a lot of great stuff here, and the concept is great, but it feels more like an early draft rather than something that has been carefully plotted and refined over several drafts. It's not that the book is bad, it's just that it's a bit disjointed, like the dots were drawn but not connected. An example of what I mean is with the title: the titular Golden Couple is not the center of the story; Avery is the lead character, and one of the two storylines she's given involves the so-called Golden Couple-- though even that feels weird, as there's never a point where they even feel like a literal or ironic Golden Couple. It feels forced, but not like something insurmountable-- which is really what the entire book feels like to me.

Avery is a former therapist, whose unorthodox methods caused her to lose her license. Now she works as a “consultant” using those same methods to treat her clients, including The Golden Couple, Marissa and Mathew. What follows is an edge of your seat psychological thriller, deftly told in alternating POVs between the characters, with plenty of “holy cow” moments throughout. Fans of this dynamic duo of authors will have no problem with this one. Outstanding read, easily 5 stars! I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I read this in one day.. Another great example of the exciting domestic thrillers these two turn out. This immersive story got me turning the pages to get to the secrets these characters were hiding. Tune out the world and start reading, you won't want to stop until the last page. I recommend their books all the time, especially to those patrons who want to get lost in a book. Another winner for sure!

I love this writing duo. They write the most compelling page turners, and make it so hard to put down. The question here is which is the story? The cheating wife (not a spoiler) or the very controversial therapist? Great writing, shocking twists and a jaw dropping ending!

Secrets. Lies. Betrayal. This book has it all. Marissa and Matthew, also known as the Golden Couple seek marriage counseling with Avery, a therapist. Avery only takes on couples that she “knows” she can “fix” in 10 sessions. But you’ll find out Avery needs a therapist for herself! Lots of characters to keep track of so it took me longer than normal to get through this book. I was not expecting the ending - its a doozy! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review. To be published March 2022.

I received and ARC of this novel from NetGalley.
This is the story of a fairly young married couple (Mathew and Marissa) and their therapist (Avery). The couple goes to Avery for counseling over an infidelity issue.
This story is full of puzzle pieces, unanswered questions and plot twists. The characters are simply puzzle pieces, not people whose beliefs, feelings and character traits the reader ever gets to know. Other puzzle pieces are a single male friend of Mathew's, a young lady that works in Marissa's boutique shop, one of Mathew's ex-girlfriends and Mathew's father. And, yes, the couple has an 8-year-old boy. Other puzzle pieces include a piece of rope, a pair of blue gloves and a note left under the boutique shop door. And somehow the murder of a teenage girl killed while Mathew and Marissa were in high school somehow is going to figure into things.
The authors do a good job of creating mystery and suspense. The reader needs to tolerate some lies that are told to throw you off. Eventually, the truth about the infidelity matter is revealed but how that affects the characters is not going to be spoiled here.

4.5 stars
I was so excited to read this book. I absolutely loved An Anonymous Girl and couldn’t wait to read this newest book by the authors. I am pleased to say I was not disappointed. The book is filled with Interesting, multi-layered characters including two strong women as the main characters who narrate the story in alternating chapters. Avery Chambers is an unorthodox therapist who lost her license for breaking the rules. She still sees a select group of clients and is still breaking rules with her controversial counseling methods. Marissa Bishop is one half of “The Golden Couple”. She and her husband Matthew seem to have it all - looks, money, and love, until Marissa’s unfaithfulness changes everything. Marissa seeks Avery’s help in putting her marriage back together.
The book has an intriguing, complex plot that kept my interest from the beginning until the very end. Things are not as they appear and Avery, Marissa, and Matthew are all keeping secrets. The plot has plenty of twists and turns, including a few things that are hard to believe. That doesn’t keep this from being an outstanding book, though, and I really didn’t want to put it down. The ending is surprising and something I never saw coming, but I loved it!
Thank you to the publisher for providing an advance copy of this book. The book was provided to me at no cost, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.

3-3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This my third book by these authors and I was thrilled to receive an advanced copy in NetGalley but I have to be honest and say that it wasn’t quite as good as I had hoped it would be. In a nutshell I would say that the beginning was REALLY good, the middle started to drag a lot, but the ending was pretty good! There were a few things in the ending that were just a bit “too much” and unbelievable. Also I think this book didn’t get higher stars from me because I honestly didn’t like any of the characters…except for Bennett (their little boy). They were all annoying. I wanted to like Marissa (even though she was the one who had the affair), but she just got on my nerves with how nervous she always was. I didn’t like Matthew as soon as they started “therapy” and he was suddenly so forgiving of what Marissa did. Skip and Polly, I had mixed feelings about. And Avery, honestly…I felt like she was a detective throughout the whole book rather than a therapist. She was really bossy and a “know it all”. Overall, it wasn’t one of my favorite books but I do think a lot of people will probably like it. I just wish the middle would have been more exciting.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

The dynamic duo has done it again! I was intrigued from the first few pages, and by the halfway mark I didn't trust a single soul in this book. I felt sketchy about each and every character. But, by the final page, it all came together beautifully and I let out the breath I had been holding. A fantastic story, with the perfect cocktail of drama, suspense and lies - I can't wait to get a physical copy of this on my shelf in 2022! Bravo Greer and Sarah!

Amazing book. Exactly how psychological suspense should be done. Great multidimensional characters that you sometimes loved and sometimes just wasn't sure how you felt about them. The storyline was well written and somewhat intense, keeping the reader off balance and making it difficult to put the book down.
A very satisfying read that shouldn't be missed!

I didn't like their last book but "The Golden Couple" has renewed my faith that every author can have a pooper of a book. Glad this one was so good!

The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks; Sarah Pekkanen is the second book that I have read by these duo of authors.
Marissa and Mathew Bishop have found their way to seek help with their marriage. Avery is a therapist unlike traditional ones.
The storyline has a few main characters and keeps you guessing as to what each is really like. A good book, and storytelling both.
Thank you to Netgalley, the Authors - Greer Hendricks; Sarah Pekkanen, and St. Martin's Press for my advanced copy to read and review.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would!!! This book, the writing, the plot was a phenomenal read!! Way to go to the thrill duo Hendricks and Pekkanen for an absolutely captivating, stunning, compelling, and psychologically mind bending ride through your work!! There were so many twists and turns to this especially when the end was near but the anticipation and intrigue flowed through the whole book! I loved how it went back and forth between Avery and Marissa, and I have to say Avery turned out to be my favorite of all the characters. I loved the whole live outside the box and really live not to just be an image but to find what makes you happy. I really like the character development for Marissa and Matthew and how it all played out while wondering if I really knew how it was going to end! I won't give spoilers but I am pleased with the leading up and ending of the book! Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read this and review, I am so glad I got my hands on a copy! Thank you St. Martin's Press and to the dynamite thriller duo, once again I am hooked and in love with your book!!!

I was ecstatic when I was granted early access to The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen.
Ever since their first book collab together, I’ve read every book from this duo. Their writing style bring something new to the thriller genre.
The Golden Couple is a psychological thriller that keeps you on the edge until the end. Avery is an unconventional therapist who takes on Marissa and Matthew’s case. Marissa confessed her infidelity to her husband Matthew and they see Avery in attempt to amend their marriage. Avery thinks she got what it takes to help the seemingly perfect couple, but they’re hiding more than Avery knows.
There are so many complex characters that show up in this book and piecing the puzzle together was kinda confusing at first. However, as the plot unwinds, characters show their true colors.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher St. Martins, and the two authors for an ARC in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Well, this book was good. It took turns I didn't see coming.
Avery is a therapist who has some very unconventional ways. So much that she lost her license because of it. Marissa and Matthew seem like he perfect couple until Marissa drops a bombshell in their therapy appointment that she has been unfaithful. As the story unfold, Avery becomes entwined in their marriage.
This book had me staying up way too late to keep reading each night. The twists and turns it took kept me interested and I feel like they left this open at the end to follow up more with Avery.

Wow! Another amazing read. Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen do not disappoint! I read this book in less than 2 days, I could not put it down!
The Golden Couple offered twists and turns and I loved the way it was written from the perspective of the two main characters telling the story. Looks can be deceiving and those on the outside should not judge a book by its cover. Marissa hires Avery to help her marriage but what they both learn along the way is that you can never know what's going on in someone's head.
The sessions with Avery prove to be difficult and revealing.of so many secrets being hidden and divulged when it is too late. You can never underestimate your partner.
Hold on, because it's a wild ride!

Wow this sucks you right in, it’s so good! Avery Chambers is a fixer of sorts in couples counseling. The Golden Couple - Marissa and Matthew Bishop seeks Avery’s advice. Avery is intrigued with this couple and takes them on as clients. She delves into their lives - home, work, social activities. Secrets are revealed and it gets quite twisty! Thank you to St. Martin’s Press for a gifted copy.

This book sucked me right in. It unfolds with excellent pacing and I love the dual viewpoints (even when I usually don’t).. I have some issues with how quickly the ending happened ans how the resolution was a bit out of nowhere… seems there could have been a few more hints in the earlier parts of the book so it didn’t seem so abrupt, but overall well written and I enjoyed reading this.
