So many secrets! Each character is keeping a few of their own secrets, and it isn’t until the end that they are all revealed and we find out how everyone is intertwined. The book kept me on the edge of my seat and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Perfect amount of drama, real life and suspense. Thoroughly loved it.
Thanks to author, publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free, it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.

The Golden Couple. It’s power couple Matthew and Melissa Bishop and it doesn’t seem possible that they would need marriage counseling. So, when during their first session with Avery Chambers, Melissa confesses that she has had an affair with a guy from her gym, it sets in place a chain of events that will end in death. And along the way, so many secrets are revealed that you’ll need a scorecard!
There are two stories here. One is the troubled marriage of Matthew and Melissa. They are united in love for the son Bennett but are leading parallel lives. The other story is Avery’s. She’s a therapist who lost her license due to over involvement in a case, a therapist who has developed her own 10 step program to work through issues. She’s also hiding a secret that can never be revealed, no matter how much someone wants to know.
Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen make a strong team. All the characters in The Golden Couple are multilayered and seem to lie easily. The plot is full of twists that keep you guessing until the final shocking conclusion. It’s a hard book to put down and a surefire 5 star read.
Thank you To NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen for this ARC.

This was good but not great. Very typical of the authors plot twisting. The central character, Avery, was well developed, as were the other women characters. The men are very stereotypical, evil or good. But, a great summer read!

Thank you Net Galley for the ARC of The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen.. What a ride! So many twists and turns in this book. Matthew and Marissa appear to be the golden couple until they don't. Don't want to give too much away but each character has secrets of their own that get revealed throughout the book. Just when you think you know the direction of the story, the authors pivot and it goes in a different direction. The layers are peeled back for each character. If you like mystery and suspense with characters that keep secrets that change their lives, this is the book for you!!

The Golden Couple tell dual stories about a couple struggling with infidelity and the therapist who contends she can”cure” any problem in 10 sessions. What lies between these tales is a carefully interwoven story that seriously keeps you guessing about who can be trusted and what part each person plays in the couples past. This amazing writing duo could write the phone book and I’d probably still take a peek to see how it ends. While the ending wasn’t a huge surprise, I’d still highly recommend The Golden Couple. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Special thanks to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for gifting me an advanced copy to read and review.

This was a fun and twisty read! I really had no idea how it would end and I kept being surprised. You will have to suspend some disbelief but it’s a page turner that will keep you guessing! Thanks to st martins for the arc!

This has all the earmarks of a domestic thriller but the entire plot is just super convenient and asks for too big of a leap in logic in too many places for me. And I’m still not sure what Avery’s therapy methods are? We were just supposed to believe they work? Idk. That was a big hole for me. But it did keep me reading and wanting to find out what happened so there’s that.

Avery is such a badass character! The spiderweb that is wound through this entire book is crazy. The beginning was pretty slow it took awhile for me to get into it. I read the first half in about a week and the second in a day!

If I had to sum up this book in one word, it would be amazing. The characters were complex, and very well-developed. You can’t help but get deeply invested in their lives, and before you know it, you’re deep into the book and hours have passed. You wouldn’t expect a book that starts with infidelity and marriage counseling to be so well paced, but there never seems to be a truly dull moment, even when you aren’t sitting on the edge of your seat. This could easily be turned into a brilliant movie to TV series adaptation. Highly recommend!

Marissa and Matthew are the Golden couple- the power couple, the Instagram-perfect couple, the couple everyone wants to be. They were teenage sweethearts and are now married with a young son after being married for years.
The trouble is that they’re not actually perfect- far from it. After a shocking betrayal, Marissa and Matthew attend couple’s therapy with Avery Chambers who is upfront about the loss of her therapist’s license and her unconventional approach. But everyone has secrets, even Avery, and therapy might not be enough for this couple as they face outside threats to their marriage.
The Golden Couple is definitely in a different vein than Anonymous Girl and while I enjoyed that book, this one is even better. I didn’t find a single flaw in this novel and I was hooked all the way through.

The Golden Couple takes you down a long and winding path with a nice little twist at the end.
This was a solid 3.5-4 star read for me. I didn't find it so incredibly gripping that I couldn't put it down (until near the end), but it was engaging enough to keep me reading. The end isn't going to blow your mind but it is satisfactory and not too easily spotted.
Avery is a rogue therapist who has developed a new and controversial method to help her clients. Marissa and Matthew are a picturesque couple who seem to be crumbling behind the happily married facade they have built. The couple enlists Avery's to help save their marriage, but soon it becomes clear there is someone sinister in the picture and that this golden couple has many secrets that are about to unravel.
I wrestled with my predictions throughout the book as there are a ton of red herrings that keep you guessing. Just when you suspect one character of being the antagonist, someone else does something a bit shady and keeps you guessing. That inability to make up my own mind was the most enjoyable part of the book. I like a narrative that makes you work for the answer, but still has enough foreshadowing to make it believeable.
Will definitely read another book by this dynamic duo.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for a free digital copy of this book in exchange for a fair review.

I was glued to this book for an entire day. I didn’t want to put it down. While I wasn’t a huge fan of An Anonymous Girl, and The Wife Between Us was good but it didn’t blow me away, I still felt the need to give this duo another chance, so when the opportunity to review the Netgalley came, I jumped on it and I’m so glad I did.
The story is told in first and third person alternating points of view between Avery Chambers, therapist extraordinaire who no longer has a license to practice, and Marissa Bishop, a wife and mother who wants to repair her marriage after a rather guilt-inducing misstep on her part. Both women are receiving threats from separate parties for differing reasons but the coincidences just keep adding up to maybe it’s not a coincidence. Avery and her 10-session method pulled me in right from the beginning. While there’s a huge elephant in the room for me on this one, I chose to look away from it because I was just so intrigued by Avery’s methods and curious as to how the story in her personal life was going to connect with the “golden couple” that she was treating. Recommended for thriller readers who love to watch the web as it finally weaves together in the end even if they think they’ve figured it out.
Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the free copy provided for an honest review.

The Golden Couple is a twisty psychological thriller that focuses on Marissa and Matthew, a seemingly perfect couple, and their unconventional therapist. I liked the alternating viewpoints (the story is told from Marissa and Avery’s POV), so you’re never quite sure who to believe. It was a quick read, and one I will definitely recommend.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the free copy.

The Golden Couple is Marissa and Matthew, until they are tarnished by Marissa’s affair with their longtime friend. At Marissa’s request, they visit a therapist to help save their marriage. But this isn’t just any therapist. Avery has lost her license but continues to practice with her proprietary 10 session package, which is highly successful.
Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen are experts in developing relatable characters that are multi-dimensional and engaging. This is the fourth book of their’s that I’ve read and I never fail to be astonished. There are the usual twists and turns that Hendricks and Pekkanen are known for, which always makes for an engrossing read. The Golden Couple really took me by surprise, though I probably say the same thing about each of their three previous books. Just when you think you have it figured out, then guess again because chances are, you don’t. And although this is their fourth book, there is nothing formulaic in their story-telling that I could detect.
I especially enjoyed the therapist character Avery and hope she reappears in a future story. Besides her unconventional techniques, she was a good detective. The chapters alternate between the POVs of Marissa and Avery. Sometimes I got frustrated by lengthy descriptions and was eager to get to the next chapter. But the flow of the story overall was fine. I look forward to Hendricks and Pekkanen‘s next collaboration and know I’ll be in for quite the surprise.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book had so many twists and turns and I loved it!
A wife cheats on her husband. She wants to be forgiven and they go to therapy. Sounds straightforward, right? Not in this book!
The wife has secrets, the husband has secrets and everyone around them has secrets- even their therapist! The story is told from multiple points of view. I thought I knew where this story was going, and what the secret was, but no.. because there were more secrets and then more.. This was a crazy, fun story with some real twists.
I want to thank the author, the publisher and #netgalley for the ARC which did not impact my review. I really enjoyed this book!

The Golden Couple
A Novel
by Greer Hendricks; Sarah Pekkanen
OMG!! I was in the zone with this read. And the ending? Just made me drop my reader. What a brilliantly, on the spot read. I want to see how it would look on the BIG screen. Mystery, suspense, and wowsa it was a home run.

This is a thriller with unreliable narrators and lots of twists and turns. I'm not sure I'll remember the plot forever, but I sure had fun turning the pages!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
WOW! What can I say... But WOW. Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have managed to knock it out of the park - again.
I have loved all their books this far - and The Golden Couple did not disappoint.
I love their writing style and characters. Every time I thought I figured it out - there was another twist.
Run, don't walk, to pick up this book. You won't be disappointed!

4/5 stars. I have recently discovered Greer Hendricks and love her books! Every single one I have read I cannot put down once I’m halfway in! This book follows Marissa and Matthew through their marriage counseling with Avery due to infidelity. I had no idea what was going to transpire at the end, and was not disappointed!
