If Avery Chambers can’t fix you in 10 sessions, she won’t take you on as a client. Her unorthodox method is wildly successful, and clients are begging for her help.
Marissa and Mathew Bishop appear to be a golden couple, rich, beautiful, and in love. But Marissa cheated, fracturing their fairy tale lives. Wanting to save her marriage, she convinces Avery to take them as clients.
Avery’s methods stir hidden secrets, and eventually blow everything up, putting her clients and her own life in danger. Highly recommended.

Talk about a thriller of a ride! I could hardly put this book down and read it in just a couple of sittings.
Controversial (and unlicensed therapist) Avery Chambers takes on Marissa and Matthew Bishop as clients. Marissa is desperate to reconcile her marriage after a one-night stand, but as the Bishops delve deeper into their marriage, more secrets come out. Avery is dealing with her own issues and is being actively persecuted by a corporation upset by her methods and whistleblowing.
Each chapter takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of twists and turns that leads inexorably to the explosive climax when everything becomes clear.
I loved this book and highly recommend it!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing a digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. The dynamic duo is back again with another zinger! Just when you think you've figured it out, they throw another wrench in the story... Marissa and her husband Matthew appear to be the golden couple - beautiful home, 8 year old son Bennett, successful careers - but the facade is beginning to crack prompting Marissa to schedule a therapy appointment with Avery so she can tell Matthew her secret: she cheated. Avery is not your typical therapist; she has a 10 session goal of fixing your issue, each session with a specific theme. Her facade had already cracked when her license was revoked and her husband died. Perhaps that's why the Bishop's chose her to counsel them. As the story unfolds, it is quite clear that everyone is holding back, even when sharing secrets.
I found at times for Avery, the line between therapist and private detective were a bit blurred and often distracting, but the Bishops had an inkling of what they were getting into when they hired her for her unconventional ways. What was most shocking is that they didn't push back on her request and often gave her what she wanted, no questions asked. I spent a good amount of time with my investigative hat on when a new character was introduced in the story, which kept it fun and engaging! I typically have the guilty one pegged pretty early on, so I was pleasantly surprised at the end.

I received an advance copy of, The Golden Couple, by Greer Hendrick, Sarah Pekkanen. I am not a fan of books with adultery in them, I could not get into this book at all, or even finish it. Others will like it though.

I loved this book!! Marissa and Mathew seem like the “golden couple” and truly have it all. When Marissa makes a devastating mistake she seeks out Avery and her 10 step counseling program. It really is a slow burn with so much going on, building up to a huge twist!! A page turner for sure!! The characters were flawed and just somewhat likable, but this worked so well for the story. You were never quite sure who to believe or trust. The writing is very unique and edgy!! Overall great thriller and I highly recommend it.
Thank you so much to St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC! This is published on March 8, 2022.
Definitely pick this one up!!

I stayed up all night reading this book. It is a fun, twisty, atmospheric story. Mild in terms of content - nothing truly terrible happens. Lots of red herrings. Lots of descriptions of DC area. Lots of rich people descriptions. Super easy to read and a great beach, day trip, all-night book. I have read every book by this author(s) and they continue to not dissapoint.

This Hendricks-Pekkanen novel is one you can't put down and days later you are still stunned by the ending. Each book they write is better than the last!
Controversial therapist, Avery Chambers, decides to take on Marissa and Matthew Bishop as clients to fix the relationship of this "Golden Couple". Lies and half truths blur the reality in many of their sessions as Avery calls them out on their actions and reactions. Meanwhile Avery is a whistleblower who has her own enemy threatening her life.
Just when you think you know something it dissolves into a quagmire of doubt. Every character is operating on an agenda that is not as it seems. I am still shaking my head at the entire plot with its constant twists and turns. Then the final reveal and the light of truth makes you review every step of this story.
Bravo! '

I don’t read a lot of suspense/thrillers, but when I do, this is EXACTLY what I’m looking for. THE GOLDEN COUPLE features a twisty plot, interesting characters with complex backstories and mixed motives, and developments that kept me turning pages late into the night. This is a fun book to escape into, and now I’m off to explore the other books by this author team. I really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing a copy of this book.

The twists and turns of this book were great and kept me guessing. The ending was a complete shock, which I loved. All of the characters were well developed and interesting. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves angst, drama and/or suspense.

I thoroughly enjoyed the rich descriptions of the main characters. They drew me right into the story. Just when I thought I had it all figured out it twisted again. Great psychological thriller!

The Golden Couple, was one of my most sought after books this years. I prayed , I crossed my fingers and toes as I anxiously pressed the tab to request this tantalizing novel . Please, please, please let me be approved ! It haunted me for a week, checking daily to see if I was approved.
At last, I receive the email, “approved” !!!!!!!!!! Thank you, Netgalley ! Thank you for my uncontrollable shriek of excitement! Yes yes yes !!!
The Golden Couple was beyond everything I expected . The storyline was well developed . Marissa, Avery, Matthew, Skip, Chris, Polly, Natalie and Bennett. Do you know these people? I sure as heck feel as though I do ! The character development was on point . I fell into the typical routine of being led to hate a character (Natalie) to only end up loving her !
This is not your typical domestic thriller . It is much more intricate than that . I devoured this novel in less than 8 hours . I couldn’t stop. Each page was an addiction, I could not will myself to put this book down for even a 3 minute bathroom break. I had to know what happened next . Plot twist ? Check! You will not see this ending coming as hard as you may try . Sarah Pekkanen and Greer Hendricks narrate a story that leads you exactly in the direction they want you to go in. I have favored both of these authors since I picked up An Anonymous Girl (another insane mind blowing read!) .
I will shout my recommendations for this book from the rooftops . Without a doubt, this is a five star read. This is a novel you do not want to miss and I am honored to have been given the opportunity to read and review The Golden Couple, prior to its release date ! Now, go pre-order ! Yes, now .

This book is well-written and moves relatively smoothly. Still, it is not of a style that I like all that much. Marissa has cheated on her husband Matthew. She brings him to see Avery, an unconventional therapist who lost her license because of her unconventional methods.
The chapters alternate between Avery’s first person accounts and third person accounts of Marissa. Lots of twists and turns that I didn’t particularly like, but they sure were not hinted at at all. You definitely won’t figure out what is coming very early in the book.
Language gets sort of rough near the end. That is always an issue with me and cost the book a star. Most of the book was find until the last several chapters. Be aware of that.
Overall, a decent, but not spectacular read.

A fabulous book that you can read in a day that doesnt disappoint... Towards the end I did figure it out because when you have read an author(s) before, you do get to know their style. Still, I was at the beach yesterday and read it from start to finish.

Avery is a therapist that has unique and questionable counselling techniques. She is good at her job and her therapy works, if you follow it as she suggests. She is a rule-breaker, a badass, and not afraid to toe the line to the point of questioning those boundaries. She lost her official counselling license some 5 months ago but that doesn't stop her from offer her services to those who are interested.
She is hired by Marissa Bishop, who says that her marriage to Matthew is in trouble. The Bishop's are the seemingly perfect "golden" couple. A perfect life, perfect home, perfect marriage, perfect family... you get the picture. But of course, as we all know, looks can be deceiving, and who really knows what goes on behind closed doors... we only see the things that others want us to see.
I enjoyed reading from the differing POV's of Marissa and Avery. It was an addictive domestic thriller that had me flipping the pages to see what would unravel and be revealed next.
A must read!

Avery Chambers is a therapist, one who uses controversial methods to try and fix her clients problems.
When Marissa and Matthew come to her to save their marriage, Avery sets up her 10 step program for them little realizing that they are not telling her everything and it is those secrets which will change the whole program that Avery has set up..
A good thriller which follows through to a slightly unexpected ending.
Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a fun book, but I can think of a better title. Just call it The Red Herrings and be done with it. Never have I read a book that led you down more blind alleys. Every time I was sure who was behind all the mayhem in the lives of the featured couple, a new twist would be revealed, and I would have to back up and integrate the new detail into my thinking. Although that is usually a good technique in developing a mystery, in this case the unpredictability became so predictable I stopped being fooled. I did like the way the chapters focused on the couple and on their therapist who played a major role in the dynamics of the story. Avery, the unconventional therapist, has quite a few issues of her own. Rather than just being a sounding board for the couple attempting to repair a broken marriage,, she takes an active role in shaking up their relationship. We see the moves she makes to push them forward while at the same time we follow the equally turbulent drama in Avery’s own life.
All in all, this was an entertaining story and I could see Nicole Kidman producing or starring in this for Netflix.

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
First, let me say I would pre- order any book that Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen writes. I previously loved The Wife Between Us, Anonymous Girl and You Are Not Alone, so I was shrieking (well, silently) with joy when I received this copy of their latest book. Thank you so much for that.
This book didn't disappoint, I finished it in two days, and it was just as good as the previous three I read.
The book had a parallel plotline- one of the golden couple, and one of the narrator, and I spent a long time questioning the motive of the narrator, and is she who she says she is. The initial visit, chapter one set up the story beautifully, including her line about how she is no longer a therapist, she lost her license- I was instantly hooked. My heart pounding wildly when Marissa found the Life Savers in Bennett's hand, and I remember thinking: I need to know what happened!!
I especially liked the Natalie storyline wrapping up fully in the last chapter, very pleasantly surprised by the women uplifting women part.

The Golden Couple are not so golden. In fact, we learn that they are more than a little tarnished. Marissa has risked her marriage by having a one night stand. She is unable to live with the guilt and decides to see a therapist - Avery. Not just any therapist, but one that promises to fix you in ten sessions - for a very high fee. Both Marissa and Matthew attend the sessions and Matthew appears able to forgive Marissa’s indiscretion. However, Avery is not one to accept how things appear on the surface so if she is to fix things in ten sessions, she needs to dig deeper into their lives. And dig deeper she does.
I have read this duo’s previous books and thoroughly enjoyed them so I was happy to get this one to review. This is the kind of book that once I start reading, I can’t put it down. The characters are very well developed and it’s a good mystery/thriller. I think they could make a series out of Avery’s clients and her escapades.

Synopsis in Three Sentences:
Avery Chambers is a former therapist turned consultant who tries to help people overcome problems in 10 sessions. Marissa and Matthew Bishop need help repairing their marriage after Marissa has an affair and they hire Avery. Unfortunately, everyone is keeping secrets and as everything begins to unravel it's not just a marriage that's in trouble.
My Thoughts:
The Golden Couple is a story that sucks you in right away. It's like a jigsaw puzzle as the reader tries to find all the pieces and how they fit together. The story is told in alternate perspectives which leaves the reader perplexed, determined to keep reading to figure out how everything is connected. The characters are mysterious, alluring and seductive. The story reminds me of a private eye or detective trying to find answers. This is one of my favorites that this author dual has released.
**Thank you St Martin's Press and NetGalley for the free advanced readers copy in exchange for my review. The

This was a fast paced thriller that I devoured in a day. I enjoyed the two POVs, although the voices were not always distinguishable. I found all the characters intriguing. The resolution felt realistic and there were enough clues throughout the novel to not feel like a cheat. I wish there had been more with Avery the therapist. I thought the novel was going to include more about her sessions but they just mentioned other clients and the names for the sessions. I wanted more showing and not as much telling for this aspect. I enjoyed this novel and recommend it highly. Thank you for the opportunity.
