This was one of my most anticipated thrillers when I saw it was going to be released in 2022. I was thrilled to get an advanced copy.
This story is told from two perspectives: client and therapist. Matthew and Marissa are the picture perfect golden couple. Marissa reaches out to Avery, an unorthodox therapist in need of help with her marriage. Avery claims ten sessions with her will fix the issue. Thorough out the story, Marissa and Avery are dealing with their own issues but then they intertwine near the end of the story. I did really like the setting which was Washington, D.C. and mentions of the Eastern Shore which gave me a connection to the characters. Also, props to the authors for having Avery adopt the underdog Pitbull from the shelter, it made me like her more.
This was a slow burner in my opinion, like the author’s previous story: The Wife Between Us. There was definitely a few plot twists I did not see coming. It wasn’t as fast paced as I would have liked, but it was still a solid thriller. I give it 3.5 stars. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

Starting the Golden Couple? Best to cancel everything in your day because once you start you’re hooked and won’t stop reading.
Avery, an unconventional therapist who “cures”: patients with her unique 10 meeting plan, meets with husband and wife Marissa and Matthew where Marissa announces she’s slept with another man. On the outside this couple look like they have everything, wealth, smarts, and gorgeous looks, but the cracks are there and Avery is positive she can help them. But Avery is dealing with some large issues of her own and the more meetings she has with them the more entangled they all become.
This is a well constructed suspense novel with several strong plots happening at the same time and the authors carry them off brilliantly. I highly recommend The Golden Couple and think it will be a huge hit.

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
A beautiful couple visits an unconventional therapist who discovers that they are hiding far more from each other. There are dozens of plot twists in this novel.

I read everything these two authors co-write. They are each one different and all are very good. This one is no different. When Marissa has a one night stand, she takes husband Matthew to counseling to tell him. As the two try to mend their marriage, Marissa feels threatened by an “unknown” admirer. Counselor Avery has skeletons in her closet. The reader slowly finds out more and the unusual happenings in Avery’s life begin to make sense. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to be an early reader in exchange for my review.
