I did enjoy this book to an extent--especially the beginning and the different POVs between the two main characters. However, I just couldn't bring myself to like either of them. The middle of the book was a little slow, and I really just stuck around for the ending--a twist that felt forced.

Engrossing read! It caught my interest early and kept it throughout. Two narrators kept it interesting and prolonged the suspense.

I love these Authors and every book they have written. I was beyond excited to read this one. The characters are amazing. Avery is a little (!) unconventional and Marissa and Matthew both had their secrets. Clear the decks before you start reading this incredible book. Thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and the Authors for the privilege to read and review this book.

Big thanks to St. Martin's Press for sending the this widget in exchange for an honest review. I loved these authors' other books and dove right in.

Avery is an unconventional therapist who is helping Matt and Marissa using her 10 step plan. Matt and Marissa seem to have a great life with an 8 year old son and plenty of money. But when Marissa confesses to a one night stand with someone at her gym, will Avery be able to help them save their relationship?

This was good but not great. I absolutely loved the first two novels from these authors. But the second two have been in the good category. I liked the story and there were just enough character that may have been up to no good. I did not figure out where this one was going. But I felt like this one didn't have the big surprises that the first two books had where I had to stop myself and say what did I just read? Perhaps they just set a really high bar. I will definitely read their next offering.

The Golden Couple is a complicated story of a husband, their family and friends.
What a twisted life this golden couple leads that finds them in need of a therapist.
That is the beginning of all hell breaking loose on them.
The ending is totally unexpected!
I see a Lifetime movie here!

This book was just OK for me. The beginning was good, but as the story went on it seemed to drag for me. I kept waiting for the big twist, but it didn't pan out for me.

I've read all of these author's books, and eagerly anticipated The Golden Couple. This book did not disappoint! This book had several surprises and kept me reading it long past my bedtime. I couldn't put it down until I finished it. My only complaint is now that I've finished this, the wait begins again for a new book!

I loved this book! I've read all of the books by the Hendricks/Pekkanen duo and I think this one may be my favorite so far. I can imagine this one being a movie, it's captivating and suspenseful with several twists and turns you don't see coming.

Thank you to #netgalley and #macmillan for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

Prefacing this review with the following - when I was approved for an arc of this duo's work, I may have squealed, twice - once when approved, and once when the publisher sent me a copy. The publisher thanked me for being such a supporter of Hendricks and Pekkanen's works, and I really am - which may be what propelled this review from a 2.5 to a 3.

Good will and past works will only get you so far, however, and this effort does not live up to their previous novels. Too many cooks in the kitchen - even if something manages to come together, it's still messy. The authors eventually brought most of the plot lines to fruition, but they did not quite connect into a full circle.

The main plot line itself is intriguing - when she lost her therapist's license, our main protagonist, Avery, turned to private practice. After she took on one of her client's problems, she became a whistle-blower, stopping production of a powerful pharmaceutical company's dangerous drug. And even though she's being stalked by
fixers for said company, somehow Avery decides it's best to see clients in her own home.

Her newest clients are Marissa and Matthew, a high-powered, high-class, high-wealth 'golden couple' dealing with infidelity. When Avery starts to work her 10-step system on them, she realizes they have not arrived on her doorstep by chance.

The book gets really muddled on the way to a resolution, throwing tons of unnecessary scenes with fake clients, parking lot stalkers, ex-girlfriends, step-daughters, and terrible assistants as peripheral characters. Too many extras really take the focus way from - and ability to care for - the main characters.

Thank you again to Netgalley and the publishers for the preview! It just didn't pack the same punch as the authors' previous novels for me.

Yeah, so, this is great. There were a couple of points, specifically a bit before and a bit after the halfway point, when I thought there were just too many balls in the air - there wouldn't be a way to reconcile all this without turning at least one character inside out or semi-transparent. But. They managed and with some aplomb.

Marissa and Matthew Bishop were the golden couple, until she had an affair. Desperate to save their marriage, perhaps more for the sake of their son than their love for each other, they seek counseling. But their counselor, Avery Chambers has lost her license due to her very unorthodox methods, she gives her clients just 10 sessions to “get better”. And during those sessions, anything goes…anything. This is a domestic thriller on steroids and a must read for fans of the genre

Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have created a fabulously twisty psychological thriller with the Golden Couple. I could not put it down! Hendricks and Greer crafted a story told from the point of view of two of the main characters, weaving the plot along until we see it all come together in Part 3. While Marissa is facing her own demons, and seems to become consumed by them, Avery, her therapist, is dealing with her own dramatic events. The reader does know that these two are connected, but not the circumstances surrounding them.

The events leading up to the big reveal kept me on the edge of my seat; this will be a very popular book for 2022! As an added gem, I really like how they wrapped it up with Natalie at the end. Kind of an uplifting moment 🙂

I was so excited to receive an advance copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review and opinion. Greer and Sarah are two of my favorite authors and I always look forward to their newest release. I loved this book and was sad to finish it! As in all of their previous books there is a surprise twist at the end which keeps things exciting. I am now waiting for their 2023 new release so I hope they write fast!

I am a huge fan of this brilliant writing duo, so when I had the opportunity to read their latest novel, The Golden Couple, it was a no brainer. This one starts as a bit of a slow burner but then takes off into multiple plot lines that ultimately resolve with the authors' trademark twist. Fans of Hendricks/Pekkanen will not be disappointed by this unique and compelling story. 3.5 stars.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for providing an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

I have never read a book I didn't like by Greer and Sarah and this was no exception! I was riveted throughout the entire novel and didn't anticipate the ending. All I can say is I hope the two are working on the next collaboration because I want it.

While Avery isn’t your typical DC therapist, her unconventional ways prove to be effective. So when the “golden couple,” Matthew and Marissa, walk into her office, she is ready to embrace the challenge they present. Overcome with guilt over her infidelity, Marissa weaves a web of lies that she needs Avery to help her out of, and save her marriage. But are the lies too deeply woven to untangle, or will Avery be able to salvage the marriage of this perfect couple? Told from multiple perspectives, the twists and turns don’t stop coming throughout this suspenseful thriller!

I received the Golden Couple in exchange for an honest review. I was very excited to receive it as I have read all of this pair of author's books and have loved each and every one of them. This was very good as well. Keeps you guessing until the end.

It’s been way too long since I have last read a thriller by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I did the happy dance when I was asked to review their latest effort, “The Golden Couple.”

I started this novel late at night, which was a bad idea as I could not put it down. Avery is a therapist (or was, she just lost her license because of the unorthodox measures that she uses). She guarantees to solve your issue within ten sessions and as of yet, she has not failed. Marissa reaches out to Avery because she has cheated on her “perfect” husband, Matthew. She loves her husband and their son and is determined to do anything to get her husband to forgive her. Yet, Avery has her own issues she needs to resolve and like many doctors, cannot follow her own treatment. The story alternates between the voices of Marissa and Avery. While set in the D.C. area, politics is not this novel’s theme (thank goodness), though I do promise you that there is plenty of deception going on.

If you have read any of the authors’ previous works, you know nothing is as expected. Talk about unreliable narrators. Who can you trust? The novel piqued my attention from the first chapter but it took several more chapters for the pace to pick up; there are plenty of unexpected surprises that most thrill seekers will not be disappointed.

This novel was worth the two year wait. Four out of five stars.

Thank you the authors, NetGalley and St. Martins for the eARC of this novel.

This book is quite the wild and twisted ride…and the fun is in guessing where it may lead. Intriguing characters and a layered plot propel the suspense until the very end. A very enjoyable thriller.
