Liam and Laura Carrington are on their honeymoon. Due to the recent death of Laura's mother (right after the wedding), they've changed their trip to a small private island in Scotland. A boat leaves them on the island and the captain directs them to the private cottage that is stocked with all the amenities they could wish for. With no cell service and dangerous currents surrounding them, the two newlyweds are surely alone for a heavenly week.

Except someone else seems to be there. The two uncover newspaper articles and think they glimpse a man, or something out of the corner of their eyes. Things start to go very very wrong quickly.

I liked this novel. The premise was great and the twist really made it worth it. I think that book could have been better if the twist was revealed midway rather than the end. The buildup/set up was too long for me and I thought that the last third of the book was far more interesting then the first third.

The novel is gripping and you will feel that you too are abandoned on an island. Perfect for those who love thrillers, domestic themes, getaways-gone-wrong and horror lite. Thank you

It sadly has been awhile since I've read one of Alderson's books but it almost immediately is didn't take me long to once again remember why I love her writing so much.

I was sucked right into the story from the very first chapter and it was hard to put it down. I loved the darkness, the mystery and most importantly, the fact that I didn't have it all figured out after the second chapter which sometimes happens when you read a lot of mysteries and watch a lot of crime shows.

This was so wonderful done and kept me guessing at times at what was going to happen next but most importantly, it kept me reading and let me escape for a few hours and get wrapped up in the mystery. I absolutely devoured this and am looking forward to picking up more of her books again in the future.

One of my favorite reads of 2021 so far! The Stalker follows a newlywed couple on their honeymoon to a remote island in Scotland. They were told they would be the only ones on the island, but someone else is there...and telling them to leave.

I did not see the twist of this book coming at all. I love these dark, twisted thriller novels and this was no exception.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book.

I have mixed feelings about this book. ON one hand, it was engaging. On the other, for a thriller, it didn't have many thrills. While the pacing was decent, there was no moment in this book where I was particularly shocked by what was happening. I figured out a lot of the twists very early and read on to see if I was right.

The Stalker was the best suspense thriller I've ever read! This was the first book I've read by Sarah Alderson and I will continue to read more.

The book set me on a different track because it read like a Victorian/gothic novel at the beginning. All I can is to future readers, prepare yourself for a scary, scary ride! Situations arose that did not allow me to put the book down. I read it in one day! So many emotions involved in the story. Great characters, creepy settings - that's all you need for a great story!

Thank you #Harper Collins and #NetGalley for providing AC! I loved it!

Looking for the PERFECT twisty psychological thrillers that keeps you up all night reading? You've found it. This book is like the proverbial roller coaster, slow bends, moderate speed, until you realize you're racing for the top incline that is super high up, and you have no idea where it goes after that, as it is shrouded in clouds. Then you're on a race to the finish at break neck speed, and you can't stop reading, EVEN if you know you need to (cause you know your alarm is going off in an hour!)! With the required blind herrings, red herrings and magical distraction, the ending of this book will seem to come out of nowhere and leave you stunned! Do NOT miss this book- it is sure to be made into a movie, especially when you realize the author is a screenwriter and can easily adapt her own book!

The atmosphere of this book was fantastic, creepy and dreamy all in one. Who wouldn't want to go to a remote island to spend with their loved one? What could go wrong?

Well, many many things can go wrong and this book inhabits all of those dark nightmares no one wants to think about. Liam and Laura decide to spend their honeymoon on a small island on the coast of Scotland after months of Laura going through the depression and grief of losing her mother unexpectedly to cancer. No one is around. They don't have cellphone service. They have the island all to themselves.

All is well at the beginning of their stay, until someone begins stalking the couple on the island. Liam, being a detective, wants to make sure his wife and him are safe and obsessively tries to find the stalker to confront them. But it always seems like the person sharing the island with them is always a few steps ahead of Liam. Which only fuels the fire and the reader finally gets to seem glimpses of Laura's dreamy husband.

Through out the story there are different time periods you read from, which break up the story nicely and give you small details and clues of what's going on along the way. I really enjoyed the way the story went at then end, even though I was able to clue in on what was going to happen.

I thought this book was written well and had just the right amount of mystery. I loved how Laura grew as a character and took up for herself. It was a great read!

I loved Sarah Alderson's The Weekend Away, so I was really excited to see this thriller on NetGalley. Remote island thrillers are very en vogue at the moment, but this story has something different for sure!

In one sentence: Liam and Laura's romantic Scottish honeymoon turns into a nightmare when a mysterious stranger starts sabotaging their trip.

Alderson has done it again - this is another twisty thriller with multiple OMG moments I didn't see coming. This will be a great read for the Halloween season - just don't read it right before bed. Be aware that this is a darker thriller with plenty of violence in addition to the psychological elements. It's a little too dark for me to give it 5 stars, but I read it in 2 sittings and really enjoyed the ride!

This novel is extremely addictive. Liam and Laura are spending their honeymoon on a remote Scottish island. Laura is struggling with depression after the death of her mother. Thankfully, handsome Liam is there to pick her up. The feeling of dread starts imbuing everything, but at first nothing happens. Then, suddenly, things get scary when it’s obvious that there’s someone else on the island with them. With no way of leaving or even calling for help, Liam and Laura will have to try to survive. When you read as many mysteries as me, you eventually pick up on some clues that tell you where the story is going. I figured out part of the twist, but it didn’t matter, since I was enjoying the plot. Another revelation required a considerable suspension of disbelief, but I rolled with it. I didn’t mind anything because I liked the pacing, the story and the characters. Laura is an animal lover who cares about a crow as much as any human. She is also doing her best to get over her depression. The atmospheric setting almost makes you want to rent the isolated cabin. But mostly the way the clues are planted. Once the twist came, I went back and analyzed the story. Every single clue is well-planted and so subtle they’re easy to overlook. I don’t like when characters lie to the reader, but this is not the case here. Once you think about the plot in the light of the revelation, the story becomes even more masterfully done.
I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thank you, NetGalley/ Harper 360, Avon!

*2.5 stars*

While this was a super fast read (I literally finished within 24 hours), it was just "ok". Entertaining at times, sure; scary at times, yes. But ultimately the writing wasn't great and I guessed one of the big "twists".

What a wonderful creepy, twisted story! The island was the perfect ominous setting. I actually got off the couch and locked the door and closed the blinds while reading this. I love when an author gets me that emotionally involved. I thought I knew what was happening, but was completely blown away when I realized I was SO wrong. I loved this book and have loved her previous books and will definitely read everything she writes in the future.

WOW! If you like suspense with a heavy dose of creepy this is a fantastic read. Suspenseful, and full of twists and turns with an ending I never saw coming. Have to say spooked me a few times, but great read.

TERRIFYING!! Absolutely terrifying. Now that my hands have stopped shaking from the non stop terror and paralyzing fear of what I just read I can complete my review.

Sarah Alderson has an extreme talent for putting your mind into a whirlwind of twists, turns, and unexpected reveals that leave you speechless and hiding under your covers. I had to read the remaining 40% of the book all in one sitting, because I couldn’t fathom that what I was reading was truly happening. How can an author be so beyond talented that they can make a novel with so many shocking actions.

The Stalker is a story of a couple that goes to a remote location for their vacation. They find that there has been someone stalking them, hence the name, and go into depth on the actions of this individual. What would you do if you were trapped on an island where you can’t call for help? What would you do if you realized there was a man stalking you and your husband while you were trying to enjoy time together? This book gave me the luxury of seeing through someone else’s eyes for a short time and living the fear and seclusion they were going through.

Each character in this book was so thoroughly scripted that I felt as though I was one of the characters living each moment. Beware of what lurks around the corner, what shadow forms in the room, and who you can really trust. Everything that you thought was real is all a facade. You’ll be begging for the truth to set you free, but you’ll find that the truth is even more gut-wrenching that you don’t want to close your eyes at night.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sarah Alderson for allowing me the opportunity to review your novel with the Advanced Reader Copy I received. I was thrilled to be able to read such a great novel before publication. Can’t wait to read more by this author! She is truly amazing.

I am so happy that I was granted the approval to read this ARC because it has offically made my top 10 thrillers of 2021 so far! This novel hits it out of the park: creepy setting that is perfect for a suspensful thriller, keeps you guessing on what is really going on while also allowing the reader to try and fit the pieces together, and really keeps you on the edge of your seat. This was my first book by Sarah Alderson but it will not be my last! Looking forward to reviewing this one on my Youtube channel in the near future :)

"Newly-weds Liam and Laura are spending their honeymoon in paradise: just the two of them on a remote island off the coast of Scotland.
But they soon discover that all is not as it seems, and the island has a tragic past. And they can’t shake the feeling of being watched..."

I requested this book from Netgalley on a whim since I never read this author before, but the description and cover was intriguing and I was not disappointed! The twists and turns were fun even if I had a slight idea of what they could be, but definitely surprised by the ending!! A psychological thriller I think won't disappoint! I would definitely read more of this author's work.

Thank you Netgalley and Harper 360/Avon for advanced e-copy!
