“I believe in the devil, but I have doubts sometimes that there is a god. If there is, I don’t know how he can let so much suffering occur and do nothing about it.”

This book is broken into 4 parts and takes place on a remote island in Scotland. It is told primarily from Laura’s POV with a few others (no spoilers sorry). What you think is a “honeymoon from hell” soon becomes soooo much more. This book was fast-paced and kept my interest. It had creepy vibes to it and was very twisty. The book completely switches up about 2/3 in (that’s all I will say because again, no spoilers) but it was great. I loved the twists and I loved Laura. I was shocked at the very end twist and didn’t see it coming but was 100% here for it. Definitely recommend this for my fellow thriller fans! I know I’ll be checking out some of the other books she’s wrote.

The ultimate honeymoon from hell. Isolated in a foreign country for a romantic honeymoon turns into the scariest, most detrimental decision this newly-wed couple could ever make. This put a fresh look onto the stalker story and I was able to read this within one sitting. I loved it.

Liam and Laura are newly weds. Because Laura's mother died the day after their wedding, they put off a honeymoon trip until now.

They're staying on a very remote island just off the coast of Scotland ... just the two of them. The boatman promises to return in a week. There's plenty of food, all the amenities you'd want or need ..except for cell phone service. The island is rumored to be haunted .. following a horrific past.

Both of them get t he feeling of being watched, but they re alone, aren't they? They wake to find a message scratched into the window, their worst fears confirmed. They aren’t alone on the island. And this stranger wants them dead.

Suspenseful from the first, it maintains a high level of intensity throughout. There are twists and turns that lead to an unexpected, surprising ending. The characters are solidly drawn.

Many thanks to the author / Avon Books UK / Harper 360 / Netgalley for the digital copy of this psychological thriller. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Laura is grief stricken and suffers with depression with the loss of her mother, her best friend in life. Laura's husband Liam has tried to help in all the ways a loving husband can. But he has his faults and flaws. They decide to take a long overdue honeymoon trip and to help the relationship and hope to bring Laura out of her shell and relive her grief.

Arriving at their destination, the only cottage on this remote island off the coast of Scotland, Liam and Laura become intrigued. The dark black water of the loch, reflecting off the sunlight creates an ominous view, that sends shivers down Laura's spine. However, the cottage to their surprise resembles a much brand-new modern style.
After unpacking, Liam begins to investigate a little through books and maps he finds. The island it turns out hold castles and chapels on the island and he wants to explore. But they soon discover that all is not as it seems, after hearing that the island is haunted and cursed, Laura feels eerily scared. As for Liam there is nothing that scares him.

Until one morning they wake to find a message has be scratched into the window that reads "𝗗𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗟". Who is it that is on this island? Or are the rumors true, is there something more sinister and darker going on?

WOW! Brilliant work from author Sarah Alderson! Such a crafty, plot driven novel with such emotional and brave characters. I enjoyed the multiple person's view of the different chapters and felt no confusion whatsoever. This is a new favorite and is just an amazing novel. I loved the ending twist and all the tricky pieces that came together it came together perfectly well!

A spine-tingling, edge-of-your-seat thriller that will have mystery readers white-knuckling its pages late into the night.

Liam and Laura are off on their dream honeymoon on a remote island off the coast of Scotland. Or at least, that's what they thought until they wake up one morning to find a message scratched into their window, and it becomes clear that they are not only not alone on the island, but they're in very real danger.

With its fast pace, haunting setting, and captivating mystery, this is one thriller that is nearly impossible to put down. I devoured it in one sitting and can't wait to read more from this author!

This was a great book! I absolutely loved the buildup & wow the twist was incredible. Things are definitely not always as they appear.

I also loved the incorporation of Scotland, the history & the spooky castle setting. It was the perfect thriller setting!

I have read many of this authors previous novels and was looking forward to this new one. Good, but not my all time favorite. A young couple supposedly along on a delayed honeymoon on a remote Scottish island find out they are being watched. Around three quarters in, I almost didn’t finish but suddenly the story changed. It opened up and I enjoyed the rest much more. Wished it had opened up a little earlier which would have given more texture to a rather repetitive storyline.

The premise and haunting setting of The Stalker are both sooo good. I had a lot of hope going into the book, and ultimately I feel a bit let down. Sarah Alderson set this thriller up so well -- an isolated island, an ominous past, Celtic ruins, wary locals -- but the plot didn't hold up for me. The ending was fine; however, it feels like there were so many opportunities to take things to an even more unexpected place that readers couldn't see coming.

Finally! I book that lives up to it's blurb. This book had me sucked in and the twist surprised me. I love the way this story unfolded...bit by bit. It was very eerie and atmospheric. The setting was isolated and the weather descriptions help bump up the creep factor. I loved Ms. Alderson's descriptive writing. I felt like I was on that island with Liam and Laura. I loved how the author was able to write such intense and intricate relationships among the characters.

Bottom Line:
I so enjoyed this book. There was a lot of detail and multiple plot lines. It really makes you think about the perception of others isn’t always accurate. Definite suspense and irony. Stayed up until 3 in the morning to finish!

My neck is still aching from the whiplash I received from the surprise ending! Wow!!!! It took me by complete surprise, which does not happen all that often! The Stalker takes you into its grasp and does not let go until the shocking end. It is filled with chills, terror, and every emotion in between. Sarah Alderson does a superb job of keeping you in suspense, and I absolutely loved the descriptions of this completely isolated island. I will now question a vacation on an island completely cut off from civilization...

Laura and Liam are passionately in love and are finally able to go on their honeymoon. Laura has been grieving the loss of her mother, and has had a few rough couple of months. This desolate, achingly beautiful island that is located in the middle of a Scottish loch sounds like just the ticket to celebrate the beginning of their married life. To be able to focus just on each other and not have a single soul bother them...or so they think! The island is magical and the cabin is impeccable and stocked to the gills with everything they could possibly want. They have the makings of a truly memorable trip.

All that changes when Laura swears someone is watching them. The hairs on the back of her neck go up and goosebumps cover her arms. Certain areas of the islands send off alarms in her head, telling her to run. Alderson does a fantastic job for setting the eerie undertones of the story. That makes your heart rate jump, as you whittle your thumbnail down to the quick.

This is a book that you cannot put down! I ignored my family and devoured each tantalizing word. The unexpected twists and turns of this book, kept you at the edge of your seat. The setting of the story just makes it even more fascinating; you cannot go wrong with a Scottish Island set in the middle of a loch.
With deep history setting the tone, castle ruins, ancient cemetery, medieval monastery, and ancient burial barrows. The ending of the story blew my mind! Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for giving me this riveting read. Be sure to pre-order your copy, you will not be disappointed!
