Three sisters kidnapped at children, a 13 year old and a set of twins. How could this happen is such a safe small town with little to no crime? Fast forward to days before the 20th anniversary. All three sisters are haunted by their kidnapping and each are dealing with it differently, but none of them are coping. Strange notes and incidents begin occurring to the girls and the date draws near. Are they being set up by the kidnapper or is it paranoia? Fast paced and engaging mystery that brings the reader to understand how a child's trauma stay with them forever. Mystery and suspense keeps one reading to the end.

This was a unique read, centered on sisters Carly, Marie, and Leah, who were abducted as young children. The book goes back and forth from their harrowing experience to the present time, in which all 3 are still irrevocably affected from the trauma they experienced. The book is very fast paced and did a great job of painting a picture of each character.

I had a few different guesses as to who the villain was, but ended up being wrong. Even when the truth was exposed, the author threw a couple more twists at the reader before it was all said and done. The author did a great job of really making you feel like you were there during the abduction and subsequent imprisonment- I could clearly picture the environment and feel the terror they experienced.

I walked away from this book feeling like I really understood each character and where they were coming from, as well as how the traumatic experience from all of those years turned them into the people that they were today. This is a sad story but somewhat hopeful as well. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to those who like mysteries and psychological thrillers. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Maybe I’m getting tired of all these ladiiesfirst thrillers. Or maybe this one just didn’t have the proverbial it quality. To be fair, I didn’t expect much and might not have even selected it had it not been for one of the characters having OCD. That should have made it interesting. For me, anyway. And it did, to an extent, but a disorder can only go so far. Even though, the author tries to get more mileage out of glitchy brain matters by throwing in another, much more exotic mental disorder on top of things.
But takes those away and what you get is a very typical thriller, although the author busies it up so much with numerous split narratives and timelines, it might take a while to notice. It’s the Gilmore Girls approach, talk mile a minute and someone might not notice you don’t have that much to say. Busy, busy, busy. Three sisters and side players to boot. You’d think just the sisters would be enough. They are, after all, the main attraction.
The Stolen Girls as the press had dubbed them. The Sinclair sisters. 20 years ago the 8 year old twins Leah and Marie and their older halfsib Carly were taken from their backyard. Stolen. The ordeal was notably brief and overall, not as terrible as it might have been, but terribly traumatic all the same. It all but annihilated the Sinclair family, but the sisters stayed close.
Now, 20 years later, the man responsible is getting out of prison and it pours gasoline on their already difficult personal situations. Carly’’s something of a shut in who barely gets by, Marie’s a junkie in debt and Leah’s OCD is spiraling up and pushing her dearly beloved into the arms of another woman. They can all use the mad money offered to them to tell their story once more for the special anniversary. And they all have reasons not to.
And then mysterious notes begin to arrive and strange things begin to occur and suddenly trusting becomes far from given, even among the family.
So who if anyone is after the Sinclair sisters and what can they do? Read and find out. Or don’t. There’s nothing new here and the narrative is ridiculously convoluted, it jumps around like its been told the linear narrative is lava. Reads quickly enough and it is reasonably entertaining, just nothing special.
The OCD is actually represented well and is the other mystery disorder, the rest is just kinda there. If you like stories about severely f*cked up families, this might work for you. Thanks Netgalley.

I enjoyed this one. Suspenseful with great characters, it’s the story of three sisters who were kidnapped and eventually found. Past and present come together as we experience the kidnapping through the eyes of the girls and read how their lives were forever changed because of it. Not just a narrative of the tragedy, however, as there are some surprises still to be discovered. Another good story from this author!

I love Louise Jensen's books and I was so excited to see her new one was available to request. What a thrill ride!

The Stolen Sisters by Louise Jensen is an intense thriller. Three young sisters were kidnapped twenty years ago and they are still dealing with the issues from that scary ordeal. The aftermath after the kidnapping only got worse for these sisters. It’s hard to deal with the trauma they have endured but it makes it worse when not everyone is being honest.

This is a solid 4 star thriller! It consistently switches between the points of view between three sisters who were kidnapped during their childhood; flipping between sisters as well as "now" (current day) versus "then" (when they were kidnapped). I feel like that is an important note for those who struggle with non-linear timelines. I would definitely read another book by Louise Jensen.

This book is absolutely amazingly frustrating (in a very good way). I thought I figured this out a number of times. I never once even came close to what was happening in this story. This book will get hooked in the first couple pages. I stayed up a few nights trying to figure this out. I absolutely loved this book. I will be recommending this to others. Great story line, shows that not all children are resilient like some adults seem to think.

What. Just. Happened? Holy cow, talk about a crazy carnival ride! The book sucks you in and the girl’s stories are all so sad and tragic. Very believable though. I appreciate a mystery that isn’t too graphic or violent and this one gives us enough of a storyline without going too far. Quite a few twists and turns keeps the reader flying through this one. I especially liked the following thought- “Guilt is corrosive. It eats away from the inside out. We paint on smiles and it looks like we’re coping but we’re not, not really.” I can relate.

Louise Jensen’s novels are always a sure thing for me! I went into her latest book The Stolen Sisters completely blind and didn’t even read the description! So in saying that, I don’t want to touch on any of the storyline details, but I will say you will not be disappointed! From the very first page, I was hooked, as in so hooked, I finished this book in just a couple of days! Louise Jensen is a master creating a mystery/thriller that keeps you on the edge-of-your-seat by placing twists and turns in the absolute perfect places! If you’re looking for a novel that will keep you captivated and entertained the entire way through this is the book for you! As per usual, I am already looking forward to Louise Jensen’s next addictive read!

The Stolen Sisters by Louise Jensen is a disturbing, terrifying thriller full of twists and turns. The chapters alternate between the past and the present. In the past, 3 young sisters - Leah, Carly, and Marie - are kidnapped and taken to an unknown location. They struggle to survive as their abductors withhold food and stick them in a dirty, smelly room. In the present, the 3 sisters, as adults, deal with the trauma of their abduction each in their own way. But, a new threat is coming. Everyone is keeping secrets. Who knows more than they should?

Here is a horrifying excerpt from Chapter 1, which is set in the past:

"It all happened so quickly that afterwards Carly couldn’t remember which order it all came in. The balaclava-clad face looming towards hers. The forearm around her neck, the gloved hand clamped over her mouth. The sight of Leah struggling against arms that restrained her. The scraping sound of her shoe as she was dragged towards the van at the other end of the alley. The sight of Marie, almost a blur, flying towards the second man also clad in black, who held her twin, pummelling him with her small fists.
‘Stop! You can’t do this! Don’t take her. I don’t want you to take her!’
The soft flesh compacting against hard bone as Carly bit down hard on the fingers that had covered her mouth.
‘Run!’ she had screamed at Marie as the man who held Leah grabbled to find something of Marie’s he could hold on to, clutching at her collar, her ginger pigtails, as she dodged his grasp.
‘Run!’"

Overall, The Stolen Sisters is a dark, disturbing thriller that had several twists that I wasn't expecting. I took off 1 star, because I found the subject matter - young children being abducted - to be very distressing. I did not enjoy those chapters, which made up about half of the book. I am aware that many people enjoy reading thrillers about abductions, so this is just my personal opinion. In addition, I did not like any of the characters in the present. Although Leah, Marie, and Carly may be realistic portrayals of what happens to people who experience trauma, I could not relate to any of them. I was looking for a strong heroine to solve the mystery, but that's not what this book is about. If you're intrigued by the excerpt above or if you're a fan of thrillers in general, you can check out this book when it comes out in October.

Twenty years ago the Sinclair Sisters, Carly, Leah & Marie, were abducted from their home. Their case made the news world wide and the masses rejoiced when they were reunited with their family. But the traumatic event is never far from the girls' minds and as devastating secrets are revealed the plot only thickens.

I really liked this book. The switching of viewpoints allowed the reader to experience the story from several different angles. The plot was well paced and the characters are relatable. Every time I thought I figured things out a twist was thrown in that knocked my theory off course. I only knocked off one star because towards the end the descriptions got a bit wordy. Overall I would recommend this book for both the family dynamics and the interesting mystery.

I was given this book in exchange for my honest opinion. Thank you to NetGalley and Harper 360 HQ for this ARC.

The Sinclair sisters were abducted almost twenty years ago and the coming anniversary has thrown all of their lives into disarray. The story narrative switches between Leah in the present and Carly in the past, at the time of the abduction. Carly was thirteen and babysitting her eight year old twin sisters when a mishap with their dog caused them to leave their yard. They were almost immediately grabbed and thrown in a van, then taken to a disused military installation where they were kept hostage for several days. They eventually are able to escape and get home, but have trouble readjusting to their home life, never quite believing that they are safe.

We see them now as dysfunctional adults - Leah has a myriad of mental health issues and a distant husband, Marie is an alcoholic who only occasionally finds work, and Carly has never had any close relationships. As if the approaching anniversary isn't bad enough, one of the captors is due to be set free any day. At least when he was imprisoned, the women had some sense of protection but now they are seriously panicked. As the anniversary nears, it becomes clear that there was more to their abduction than they believed, and terrible secrets are exposed. Just when you think you know what really happened, another piece of the puzzle is revealed and the story becomes even more devastating. Don't bother thinking you know how this one will end, because you don't! It's a true psychological thriller that you can't put down and it will stay in your head long after you do.
